PLAY, ONSITE RETAIL & ATTRACTIONS

Play equipment installer Proludic goes the extra mile for top holiday park client

Back in 2019, Proludic was invited to install a play area at Park Foot Holiday Park in the Lake District with equipment mainly from its Kanope and Ixo ranges.

The focal point of this install was a Kanope structure that features a majestic, tall, transparent tower with an asymmetric playhouse perched at 8 meters above the ground. The owners of this leisure destination had previously used Proludic with the installation of another playground at their holiday park. When they needed to refresh their aging toddler play area, they re-approached Proludic with a request for a fun and exciting renovation with a tower.

Proludic’s Kanope range is ideal for the idyllic camping location overlooking lake Ullswater as its design is inspired by nature and fits into a landscape seamlessly. This is achieved with features such as the beautiful timber effect panels and structures resembling wild grasses and tree trunks. Each of Kanope’s structures has been designed to simulate an adventure trail with a variety of access points including wide offset steps, ladders, nets, ramps, or climbing walls inserted into the unit. Once at the top, it culminates with a thrilling descent down either the Kayak or spiral slide.

The new playground also included an Ixo multiplay unit offering children countless

opportunities for climbing, swinging, hanging, balancing and sliding. The junior play area for children ages 2-8, also provides numerous play opportunities from a multi-functional climbing frame, swings, roundabouts, springers, play panels and a multiplay unit complete with two slides. Overall, the new play area accommodates over 100 children in the toddler and junior play areas and has an excess of 85 play

features.

A play area certainly makes commercial sense and is a sound investment in this sector. Proludic commissioned independent research a couple of years ago which found that 89% of families were more likely to be drawn to a leisure destination with a play area. What’s more, 83% also feel inclined to return to a leisure destination that has invested in play facilities – and almost half (48%) of leisure customers consider staying longer if the attraction has a good playground! This is particularly important for the leisure industry when you consider that the UK holiday market expects ‘staycations’ to continue rising.

Proludic is one of the leading outdoor play and sports providers in the UK. They are extremely passionate about what they do and are very customer centric. They have an extensive range of equipment to suit all ages using a varied sustainable material palette from Robinia wood to metal. They also have a bespoke design service which stands them apart as they can design something unique, or themed for any project.

How Liberty Games Transformed Bridge House Marina

They’ve worked with a number of parks recently to get them ready for summer, and they’re always up for a challenge. Bridge House Marina is one of their past customers, and they were more than happy to chat about why they chose to add games tables to their holiday park.

What made you want to install the games tables?

We installed the games tables because we wanted to offer our customer something to do while staying here and as a way to attract new customers i.e. young families and grandparents.

Did you see some elsewhere or hear that they might be successful?

We have seen them on other sites and believed it was a good way to ensure people chose to visit us over other sites as we would have more to offer

Did you carry out any customer surveys before installation to see what might be popular?

We did ask customers what they would prefer to see as well as asking our staff.

What made you select the type and exact models of table that you chose?

We were looking for quality games tables that would survive heavy usage, as we believe that buying cheaper items would not have been cost affective over the long term.

Do you have the tables set to freeplay or do you take an income from them?

We take an income off all the games tables we bought to try to cover any maintenance costs we would incur on the games and hopefully recover the cost of buying them over time. The only exception to this is the Table tennis we offer this free if they have their own bats and ball, and if they don’t we will hire them the equipment.

Either way, how are you finding this and do you have plans to change?

This seems to be working well for us and we have no plans to change the way we operate the games tables currently.

Do you find them to be as popular as you expected them to be? Or less popular, or more popular?

The games tables have proved to be slightly more popular than we expected and are certainly a good addition to our site.

Do you have plans for more?

Yes we will be looking to add to the game we currently offer in the future.

What advice would you give to a caravan park operator who was considering investing in some games tables?

If you are looking to attract more customers especially young families and make your site stand out from the competition, while creating another revenue steam its almost a no brainer. Don’t be tempted to buy the cheaper home games but go for the more commercial machines as this will be more cost effective over time.

ALL THE LIGHT UP TOYS FOR GIRLS & BOYS!

Staffordshire based Novelty Imports have shown a huge presence in the light up novelty sector over the last 20yrs. They supply a range of fast selling novelty event glow lights to many sectors including, theme & holiday parks, pantomimes, circus and funfairs.

Nigel Browne told us it’s been hard post Covid to manufacture products in China, the very same situation many car companies are facing! With shipping costs high, we have had to adapt fast, relying on our agents in the Far East to secure factory production and arrange regular deliveries using the most economic routes. Although we expect to see LTD stock and products selling out fast again, we hope we have minimised this as much as possible in 2022. As we enter uncharted territories with the huge rise to the cost of living, the public do not seem to be holding back when buying light up novelties at events or whilst on holiday, possibly due to savings and the terrible 2 years previous of Covid Misery.

We strive to ensure our items are reliable, fast selling, & great value for money most importantly safe with CE markings & EN71 toy safety certificates gained for each item imported.

Covering the whole of the UK with a 24 hour online secure website, Novelty Imports also boast a customer showroom (appointment only) close to Junction 11 M6 at the heart of all the motorway networks, where all the latest and best selling light up glow event novelties, inflatable prizes, carnival festival items and pocket money toys can be found.
