Orlando’s Pulse memorial wall set on fire in newly released footage A newly released video shows a person setting Orlando’s interim Pulse memorial wall on fire last month. According to the OnePulse Foundation, who shared the footage to their Facebook page, three memorial banners and the effects nearby were burned by a person who approached the memorial in a wheelchair on the night of Oct. 12. The video shows the person approaching the wall and setting the fire, then leaving as the flames spread. Orlando Police say the incident was reported last week and they are seeking a suspect. Mad Cow Theatre evicted from downtown Orlando headquarters The travails of Mad Cow Theatre came to a head last Wednesday, with the company being evicted from their downtown Orlando headquarters on Church Street by the city of Orlando. Mad Cow was served a termination of lease notice, effective “immediately” — as in, no one involved with Mad Cow was allowed to enter the building to retrieve anything in the way of personal items or equipment. City staff and Orlando Fringe had earlier discussed Fringe taking over the upstairs space at 55 W. Church St. to house an arts incubator; now with this rather final development, the initial discussions between the City and Fringe look likely to accelerate. However, Mad Cow executive director Mitzi Maxwell told the Orlando Sentinel that talks with the city were in fact ongoing for Mad Cow to remain in the space, saying she wants to work toward a “resolution.” Meanwhile, Mad Cow Theatre has not released a public statement in response to the eviction, and no updates have been announced regarding the shows and events currently booked there through December.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium’s famous dolphin Winter falls ill with possible infection The famous rescue dolphin that changed the fortunes of Clearwater Marine Aquarium has fallen ill with a possible gastrointestinal infection. According to a post on the aquarium’s Facebook page, Winter the dolphin stopped eating sometime last week. This led to concern among trainers, who are now closely monitoring the famous bottlenose dolphin. “Her story of survival has inspired millions of people around the world, and she continues to show a strong, determined, and fighting spirit,” they wrote. Winter was rescued by the aquarium in 2005 after losing her tail to a crab net. The dolphin’s tail was replaced with a prosthetic, a process fictionalized in the 2011 movie A Dolphin Tale.
