Happy 44th National Day United Arab Emirates! The second of December every year marks the formal union of the United Arab Emirates in 1971. It marks the UAE’s formal nationalization from the British Protectorate Treaties which ended on December 1, 1971 and the eventual, federal unification of the seven emirates in 1971 which combined to form the modern-day country, headed by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the federation’s first president. Grand celebrations are held across the country to mark the event. It is one of the main occasions that the UAE nationalities and expats celebrate alike.
With the approach of the national day, people start to decorate their offices, homes, cars, parks and building externals with UAE flags, colorful ribbons, lighting and other decorations that symbolizes the culture of the country. Moreover, the chief government authorities such as the Ministry of Education & Ministry of Interior Affairs celebrate the national day by suggesting their employees to wear the Emirati traditional costume and hold flags. Melodies of the national anthem are also played as part of the national day spirit. Embassies of other countries in UAE share this happiness and celebrate the national day with the UAE society.
