As a result of this lesson, students will be able to ➜ Identify how sensors are used in technology ➜ Describe what a sensor is and how they are used today in Smart technology ➜ Design a doorbell that when activated rings, takes a picture and turns on the light ➜ Modify the system to be ‘Smart Technology’ by utilizing a sensor
Lesson Topics Computing Inputs, outputs, abstraction, debugging. Engineering Describe on a basic level how sensors are integrated into objects via logic and computer programming. Scientific Thinking Asking relevant questions and using different types of scientific enquiries to answer them.
Design and Technology Generate, develop, model and communicate ideas through talking, drawing and mock-ups. Math Measure and estimate lengths in standard units. English Language Arts ➔ Use information gained from illustrations and text to demonstrate understanding. ➔ Determine the meaning of general academic and domain-specific words and phrases in a text relevant to a grade 3-4 topic or subject area
