Would you take your nursing degree across the globe, battling childhood diseases in those areas most in need? Would you take your business degree and apply it toward developing a program to combat food deserts in urban America? And how encouraging would it be to know that others have gone before you, using their ESU education to truly be the change they wanted to see in the world? It’s not really about what we can offer you. It’s about what you can offer the world because of what you started here. At ESU you will build an education so you can build a better world.

Emporia State’s beautiful campus is buzzing (get it?) with activity. Getting involved is the stuff memories (and future job offers) are made of. With over 100 student organizations including a vibrant Fraternity and Sorority Life, intramural sports, Associated Student Government, religious organizations and more – there's always something to do! The Union Activities Council also brings tons of events to campus each year from concerts, to comedians, to 5K runs. If you’re looking to get published + get experience (as well as get clips for that resume), be part of the student newspaper, The Bulletin, or the yearbook, Sunflower. Stay fit at our full-service Rec Center that offers a weight room, gym, fitness classes, personal training and wellness challenges. P.S. We’ve added some very cool things this year that we know you’ll love! (like an Xbox lounge and slam wall).

For the 14th time in 16 years, the ESU volleyball team earned the Team Academic Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Emporia State student-athletes provided 3,632 hours of community service during the 2017-18 school year to rank 15th in the nation.

Hornet athletics. With 15 exciting NCAA Division II teams, there’s always something to watch!

Three Hornets were Google Cloud Academic All-Americans during 2017-18: football players Landon Nault + Marcus Houghton, along with track athlete Wyatt Sander.

Emporia

THE CITY OF

Hornets are lucky to call the City of Emporia their home. Some like it so much they decide to stay. Right out the front doors of ESU you will find: ȓȓ Shops + Restaurants ȓȓ Emporia Granada Theatre + Arts Council

The beautiful Flint Hills provide great biking and running trails.

ȓȓ Nightlife ȓȓ Fun events on Main Street like the massive Welcome Back block party

An awesome cycling scene with club rides most nights of the week. We're also home to the Dirty Kanza, a 200-mile gravel cycling event that draws thousands of cyclists from around the world.

Our alums do cool stuff. Jeremy Rusco, Business 2006, started Dynamic Discs while attending ESU. Now, it's the fastest growing disc golf company in the world. Impressive.

Five professional disc golf courses are within two miles of campus. Emporia also hosts the largest disc golf tournament in the world, the Glass Blown Open.
