I M PAC T Shane McGrath, Class of 2020, has heard all the stories about student loan debt from his siblings, which is why he is even more appreciative of having received the Class of 1942 Endowed Scholarship. “My older brother and older sister are paying off their loans now, and I hear about it at Christmas,” said the health and physical education teacher education major. “Scholarships take a load off a future of paying.” With this realization, McGrath, who is president of the Health and Phys Ed Club, has applied for and just received three more department scholarships for this year: the James R. Chamberlain ’69 Endowed Scholarship, the Class of 1938 Endowed Scholarship, and the Frank D. and Marjorie C. Sills Endowed Scholarship, while working as a ropes course facilitator at Stony Acres - ESU's student-owned 119-acre wildlife sanctuary - and as a work/ study student.

McGrath is also one of two ESU Warrior mascots, a role he has played since he was a freshman. “This has been my busiest year,” he said. “It’s making me a better person and a better professional. I believe the experiences within the experiences will help shape my life in general.”

“I put on the suit, they put on the music, and I was a WWE fan at the time, so I just did those kinds of moves,” said McGrath. “Soon after, I got an email saying I got the job, and that weekend I had an event.” page 13

“I like being outside, fixing things up and cleaning up. It’s my comfort zone, and it’s a relief from on-campus pressure and stress. Stony Acres has great people there that I enjoy being with,” McGrath said. As president of the Health and Phys Ed Club, McGrath initiates events so members can get hands-on experience. He also attends the Pennsylvania State Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (PSAHPERD) Conference every fall semester. It is the HPE profession’s statewide organization. “Every year we like to have the most representation there,” he said. “I do these things because I enjoy doing them. I don’t do them to stack my resume. I know I can do a good job.”

Dear Friends,

On a beautiful fall evening in October 2018, I had the honor of standing in a room with more than 250 guests who had gathered to celebrate East Stroudsburg University’s 125th Anniversary. It was the culmination event after a busy year of festivities that recognized ESU’s founding in September 1893. In the time I have served as president of ESU since 2012, I cannot remember a year so full of excitement. Not only did we honor those who came before us, but we set the stage for years ahead, pledging to always place our student’s success as our motivator in all we do.

If one gets true joy from giving, then you are among some of the happiest people we know. I say this because, as donors to the East Stroudsburg University Foundation, you have had a profound impact on our year in fundraising. In fact, 2018-2019 was a record year for the 33-year old organization.

That evening was also an example of the energy that can be harnessed when we come together for an incredible cause – student scholarship. Alumni, friends, faculty and staff, and community members joined us to celebrate a milestone year, raising more than $175,000 for scholarships in one evening. An event of this size and financial success is unprecedented for ESU and it filled my heart with joy to see individuals and businesses raise their paddles to support students in need. The 125th Anniversary Celebration set the pace for a record-breaking year in fundraising for the ESU Foundation which, thanks to you, secured $4,648,606 in gifts and pledges in 2018-2019. In its 33-year history, the Foundation has worked to fulfill its mission to support ESU and its students, and the past year’s efforts show momentum is building as relationships and partnerships flourish.

Your support also resulted in stunning photo opportunities and dreams realized at the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Creekview Park complex and dedication of the Dr. Jane Huffman Wildlife Genetics Institute. The details of these projects can be found within this Annual Report and Honor Roll of Donors, along with a multitude of other program highlights and events that made 20182019 one to remember. Of course, you will also discover the names of thousands of individuals, businesses and organizations that - like you - understand the importance of higher education when it comes to philanthropic giving. There are many contenders that vie for your support and we are humbled and deeply touched by the depth of your generosity. Looking ahead, we still have much work to do, funds to raise, and projects to accomplish. We invite you to remain our friend and partner in 2019-2020, providing students with the best we can possibly offer and ensuring every ESU Warrior has the tools they need to succeed.

I invite you to enjoy Milestones, Our Year in Review. The 2018-2019 Annual Report and Honor Roll of Donors provides you with a snapshot of a year that recorded gifts and pledges totaling $4,648,606. Within these pages you will discover the remarkable successes of several campaigns and the results of a vibrant scholarship program that every year grows leaps and bounds. Take a look on page 37 and see the 10-year progression of scholarship funds disbursed to students since 2009-2010 – from $358,950 to $943,649 in just over a decade. These figures are more than a listing in a bar graph. They are actual dollars provided to students pursuing their college degrees and we are honored to share many of their stories within this report.

It’s very important to the ESU Foundation to properly steward your gifts and thanks to the diligent work of the board’s Investment Committee, as of June 30, 2019, the Foundation’s endowed funds had grown by eight percent. We also received a clean audit from our independent accounting firm, reinforcing our commitment to accuracy and transparency and affirming trust that your gifts are properly managed. I would like to extend my thanks to the full board for their dedication this year as well as ESU President Marcia G. Welsh, Ph.D., and all faculty and staff, for partnering in major campaigns and initiatives. Also, thank you to the Foundation, Advancement and Alumni Engagement team who continually strive to better their programs one year to the next. Moving into 2020, we won’t rest on the good news of the prior year. Goals for the Foundation include increasing the number of new scholarships by six percent, awarding $1 million in scholarship support and broadening our donor base and expanding our alumni engagement reach. Not easy tasks but, based on the greatest level of support we’ve seen in the Foundation’s history, we are confident.

I M PAC T If not for the generosity of donors to the APSCURF ESU Chapter Annual Scholarship and the Geography Graduate Annual Scholarship, graduate student Weston Strubert ’16 would not be able to do one of the things he likes to do best: beautify the ESU campus through the planting and identification of plants and trees. “For me, the financial aspect lets me do what I like to do: community service, volunteering, and research,” Strubert said. The 2016 ESU environmental studies graduate from Pocono Summit, Pa., is now working toward his master’s degree in biology in the studies of geographic information systems and remote sensing in environmental science. “I always knew I wanted to do a master’s program, specifically in botany, and get more knowledge in that,” said Strubert. “Learning, in general, is a big part of life. The more you know, the more questions you ask, the more interesting something is.” Strubert and the ESU Environmental Club, of which he was president, published an Arboretum Guide that identifies all the plants on campus, including GPS locations and descriptions. “I am proud of my ability to share this with the public. It is a very big win in my book,” Strubert said. “We made it in a way the public will understand and in a way they will be able to appreciate nature.” Strubert will be working for the National Park Service located in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, continuing what he loves to do, made possible by ESU scholarship donors. As Strubert told his scholarship donors in his application letter, “I am very involved within the ESU campus and I strive to make an impact in the community. With the scholarship funds, I plan on continuing my multiple research projects and aid in making ESU a frontrunner in the science field.”

Santoro Dear Friends, If you have ever wondered if your support to the East Stroudsburg University Foundation truly makes a difference, then the 2018-2019 Annual Report and Honor Roll of Donors should put your mind at ease. We have appropriately named this annual issue Milestones, and as you read through the pages, you’ll see why – and how – you and so many others had a significant role in the Foundation’s recordbreaking year in fundraising for the university and its students. You will discover how your generosity benefits every area across campus, with your gifts having an impact for decades to come. In total, the ESU Foundation secured $4,648,606 in gifts and pledges in fiscal year 2018-2019. The most ever in our history! Academic and athletic programs, facility improvements and student scholarships are among the many areas where your support shines through. We aim to share with you, in complete transparency, how every dollar helps students succeed in the classroom, on the athletic field, and out in the world. As a result of your gifts, our promises made at the launch of several campaigns have been realized: • We closed a $1.8 million campaign and held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Creekview Park complex, providing a state-of-the-art complex to our baseball and softball teams. • A campaign to rename the Dr. Jane Huffman Wildlife Genetics Institute raised more than $150,000. This created an operating endowment for the lab. A ribbon-cutting and dedication was held in April 2019 to celebrate Dr. Huffman’s legacy.

• Many of you joined us for East Stroudsburg University’s 125th Anniversary Celebration in October 2018, which drew 250 guests and raised more than $175,000 for scholarships in one evening. • More than $100,000 was raised for new equipment for the soon to be relocated and revamped Aquaculture Laboratory. The Foundation’s scholarship program continues to be strong. To enable students to focus on their studies, we awarded $943,649 in scholarships in 2018-2019. That number will continue to grow as donors established 39 new funds this past year. To provide a little historical perspective, I’m proud to say the Foundation has established 143 new scholarships during the past four years and now has 434 scholarships available to ESU students. Putting a face on those statistics, throughout this publication, you will read about students who have benefitted from the gift of scholarship. Their testimonials speak volumes on the impact you have had on their lives. Thank you for your belief in our mission to provide opportunities for students to receive the best education and university experience possible. It could not be done without your support. From all of us at the ESU Foundation and the students who benefit from your generosity, thank you. You can be assured, we may have set a record for our 33-year old organization, but we are looking ahead in hopes of surpassing this benchmark in the coming year. The President’s Distinguished Medal is the highest honor the university can award to an individual or organization and is presented at the discretion of the president. Honorees are selected based on their commitment and work that has exemplified the values of ESU. PLAY BALL! $1.8 million campaign results in fields of our dreams East Stroudsburg University’s new baseball and softball fields were dedicated on April 5, 2019, at the ESSA and Hughes Field and Creekview Park Complex in Stroudsburg, Pa. The ribbon cutting followed the ESU Foundation’s $1.8 million fundraising campaign that provided for the installation of artificial turf on two fields, two sets of bullpen areas for each field, construction of home and away dugouts at both fields, permanent and accessible bleacher seating for fans, designated hitting cages for each field, and overhead netting to protect fans from foul balls. Construction was completed in March.

Dr. Jane Huffman Wildlife Genetics Institute dedicated CELEBRATION CAPS $150,000 FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN The Dr. Jane Huffman Wildlife Genetics Institute was dedicated on April 24, 2019, honoring its founder and visionary and celebrating a $150,000 fundraising campaign by the East Stroudsburg University Foundation. The Foundation began the campaign to rename the lab in early 2017 following the passing of former Distinguished Professor of Biological Sciences, Jane Huffman, Ph.D., M’07. Huffman was a member of the ESU family for 29 years, retiring in 2015. She began her career at ESU in 1986 and from the start was a powerful influence on students studying biological sciences, particularly those in wildlife microbiology and parasitology. In 2005, Huffman supported ESU’s efforts to develop The Northeast Wildlife DNA Laboratory which played a

significant role in the establishment of Pennsylvania’s Lyme Disease Task Force, established by then-Governor Tom Corbett. Huffman’s work in the lab with ESU graduate Melissa Shaw ’11 resulted in development of Lyme Aid (now known as CutterTM Lyme Disease Tick Test), the first-ever faculty/student commercialization agreement at ESU and within Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. Located in ESU’s Innovation Center, the Institute is an extension of the Department of Biological Sciences, providing training for undergraduate and graduate students. The lab also provides invaluable research to physicians, a number of state wildlife agencies, and pharmaceutical and biotech companies.

East Stroudsburg University, the Stroud Township Board of Supervisors, and the Stroudsburg Little League announced a partnership in June 2016 for the enhancement project. On May 3, 2018, ground was broken for construction to begin. The three ballfields at the complex are now named the R. Clinton Hughes Jr. Field (baseball), Vigon International Field (softball), and the ESSA Bank & Trust Field (Little League).

Golf classic benefits

Prince Hall Scholarship Fund The Educational Scholarship Golf Classic to benefit the Prince Hall Endowed Scholarship celebrated its 28th anniversary on August 6, 2018, welcoming more than 90 golfers to Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort in Shawnee On Delaware, Pa. The golf outing benefits the Prince Hall Endowed Scholarship which enables students who attend the Prince Hall School in Philadelphia, Pa., the opportunity to further their education at ESU. Since the partnership with the Prince Hall School and ESU began in 1988, 18 Prince Hall scholars have gone on to graduate because of this scholarship. Golfers gather at the 28th Annual Educational Scholarship Golf Classic.

Warrior spirit is field level at annual President’s Tents Football season gives President Marcia G. Welsh, Ph.D., and the ESU Foundation an opportunity to steward donors at the President’s Tent and the Dr. Jake Piatt ’61 President’s Box at Gregory-Douds Field at Eiler-Martin Stadium. Each of the five games welcomed a different segment of donors and friends, including board members, the Council of Trustees, corporate and foundation partners, and reunion and legacy alumni.

Ryan McMunn, CEO and founder of BRIC Language Learning and CEO of Tricam Industries, and Chris Paradysz ’84, Co-CEO and founder of PMX Agency, were the featured guests for East Stroudsburg University’s President’s Distinguished Entrepreneur Speaker Series on Oct. 17, 2018, and March 27, 2019, respectively.

August 22, 2018, marked the new website launch for the East Stroudsburg University Foundation and ESU Office of Alumni Engagement.

BRIC, which stands for Brazil, Russia, India, China, is an interactive online language learning program that accelerates fluency in Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Brazilian Portugese, and other languages. McMunn encouraged ESU students, faculty, staff, and community members to abandon the fear of failure, to learn the culture and subculture, to guard against making preconceived judgements, to be creative with employee incentives, and to network as frequently as possible. Paradysz, along with Mike Visceglia, bassist in Kinky Boots on Broadway, discussed “The Power of Creativity to Solve Problems” and led the audience on a musical journey to discover their inner creativity. Football networking event connects players with alumni The Warriors football program joined forces with the ESU Foundation to hold a Networking Night on April 29, 2019, at the Innovation Center. Supporters and alumni of the football program had the opportunity to meet with current players to foster camaraderie and give team members a chance to network professionally with alumni in a variety of backgrounds.

CELEBRATING SUCCESS: Field Hockey, Women’s Soccer and Lacrosse Alumni and donors congratulated the teams and coaching staff of the Warriors field hockey, women’s soccer and lacrosse programs for successes and championships won over the past several years. Held on March 30, 2019, in the Lenape Residence Hall Lounge, the event was hosted by ESU President Marcia G. Welsh, Ph.D., Gary Gray, Ed.D., director of athletics, and the ESU Foundation. The reception gave supporters of all three programs the opportunity to connect with the coaching staff, team members and alumni to celebrate their accomplishments. Over the past five years, the three women’s programs have achieved numerous championships and had significant success at the national level.

The two websites offer an improved design layout with both mobile-friendly and desktop interfaces. Providing visitors with an easier way to browse information based on their personal choices, the websites also offer ease in navigation on who we are, the impact of donor support, estate and gift planning, event promotion and alumni news. Students also have enhanced capability in applying for scholarships online and thanking donors for their support. Integrated social media buttons for Facebook, twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Flickr foster improved sharing and communication. Content is continually updated with helpful information, alumni and Foundation announcements, and event registration forms. The team at the ESU Foundation, Office of Alumni Engagement and University Advancement began planning and converting to the new websites in late 2017. East Stroudsburg University’s proposal to create a Community Health Education & Simulation Center was boosted by a $207,000 grant provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, Monroe County. Other funding partners are being contacted for the ESU Foundation to reach its goal of $750,000.

TWO SPECIAL FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGNS WERE LAUNCHED BY THE ESU FOUNDATION IN 2018-2019 AND WILL CONTINUE INTO THE NEW FISCAL YEAR.

The university already has the 1,150-square-foot space for the Simulation Lab on the second floor of the DeNike Center for Human Services, but equipment and staff are still necessary. Life-size manikins programmed to respond to environmental changes and medical intervention in addition to other state-of-the art technologies will supplement student learning in multiple disciplines. They will advance healthcare workers’ ability to perform complex medical procedures and life-saving techniques including: seizures, delivery of babies and heart attacks.

SCHOLARSHIP CAMPAIGN UNDERWAY FOR

Acrobatics & Tumbling East Stroudsburg University Foundation’s fundraising campaign for ESU’s newest varsity sport, Women’s Acrobatics & Tumbling, has begun with a goal set at $500,000. A pledge for scholarships in the amount of $100,000 has been confirmed.

International Gymnastics Camp Owner Bruno Klaus will lead a fundraising committee which is being formed. Seven members have been confirmed and Coach Miles Avery is working with the ESU Foundation to recruit seven more members to lead the way on the campaign. Competition is scheduled to begin in the 2019-2020 academic year. The sport is a combination of gymnastics and cheer, governed by the National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association.

Clark, who is the head residence advisor for Laurel Hall, has been the recipient of the Agnes T. McCartney Endowed Scholarship for the past three years. “Being an R.A. has shaped who I am, given me best friends, lifelong friends, and made me more confident,” Clark said. “R.A.s are here for the students. We get the 4 a.m. call when they’re locked out of their rooms. We are the fun police. We teach them how to do laundry. We see them find their passion.” Clark found one of her passions by accident. She was studying in Shawnee Hall when students began to gather for an R.A. meeting, but Clark didn’t feel like moving her things to study elsewhere. “They were talking about free housing, and I realized it was a bigger operation,” said Clark. “I had no intentions, but now here I am, an R.A.” Clark is a first-generation college student, and the more she experienced ESU, the more she fell in love with it. “Being away from home felt like home,” Clark said. “The faculty at Accepted Students’ Day made me want to be part of everything. It was like them saying they wanted me before I got here.” Clark feels the same way about the donors who have helped make her college experience a reality and wants other students to know that not all scholarships are based on GPA. “Receiving scholarships helped shape me into being who I am,” said Clark. “I want to put a face to who they’re helping.” 2018-

The film festival, which is held in September and October, is the only one of its kind in Northeastern Pennsylvania that showcases movies from Latin America and Spain that are currently unavailable for home viewing but are making rounds on the international film festival circuit. A total of six films are free and open to the ESU community, as well as the surrounding area. Many students attend the film festival to gain cultural awareness necessary for their diverse fields of study. Students may also receive credit in a wide variety of courses across campus.

People with CCN are unable to speak using their voice due to some type of physical disability. Currently, the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders has an AAC (Augmentative Alternative Communication) Lab that allows students to learn about devices that assist people with CCN. Some CCN include people with cerebral palsy, autism, and traumatic brain injury. Graduate students have access to these devices to learn to program them and implement speech therapy for various people with several types of speech and language disabilities.

$1,000 Exhibitions by three artists were presented: Kristen Woodward, Tom Laudenslager and Margaret Cogswell with workshops by Laudenslager and a talk and panel discussion with Cogswell. An exhibition in October 2018 featured Woodward’s paintings and Laudenslager’s clay sculptures at the Madelon Powers Art Gallery. Laudenslager led a workshop in clay handbuilding sculpture techniques and the use of colored slips to apply color to clay. Participants were invited to construct and complete the exterior color application to a piece during the workshop. Cogswell presented a multimedia installation on the relationships between communities and their water supplies, including a video/audio piece created with the participation of Monroe County residents. She gave a talk on her work and participated in a panel discussion with water activists and ESU faculty on the value of art in climate change messaging.

“Creating a Masterpiece” celebrated East Stroudsburg University’s President’s Circle donors and 1893 Society members on Sept. 14, 2018, in Kemp Library. The 2018 President’s Gala, hosted by ESU President Marcia G. Welsh, Ph.D., and the ESU Foundation, acknowledges individuals, businesses, and organizations who have given $1,500 or more over the last fiscal year. Members of the 1893 Society, those who include the ESU Foundation in their estate plans, also attended. ESU Foundation Executive Director Rich Santoro told guests that their generosity was responsible for the $2.8 million in support of ESU and its students during the 2017-2018 fiscal year. Thirty-five new scholarships were created, and ESU saw great success in the Baseball-Softball Turf Field enhancement project as well as the Wildlife DNA Lab project. President Welsh also spoke, focusing on ESU’s students, who come from varied walks of life and backgrounds with the dreams of pursuing an education that will lead them to a gratifying and successful life. “Everything we do is truly about our students,” said Welsh. President Welsh then told guests that each person, in his or her own way, is helping to create the whole student, a masterpiece. “Your support for scholarships, academic and athletic programs, facilities, and more are an important part of the equation,” Welsh said. “Without your support, so much would be missing from our students’ experience at ESU. And that beautiful student we are preparing for the world, might not be who they could have been without your help.”

I M PAC T For the past four years, Vincent Gervasi ’19 threw his heart and soul into East Stroudsburg University’s campus radio station, 90.3 WESS FM. He was the recipient of the WESS Service Award Annual Scholarship, established “to recognize the duties of certain students at the campus radio station.” “I was definitely happy to receive it. In the future, it will help me with paying back student loans since I will have less to pay back,” Gervasi said. “I didn’t get much financial aid and that was another reason that drove me to run for station manager.” WESS is a student-run organization, and when DJs are not on the air, the station is a place where members like to gather and spend time with each other.

Dr. Robert McKenzie is WESS’s university advisor. “I met Rob McKenzie when I first joined the radio station,” Gervasi said. “I only had him for two classes, but we clicked really well. He helped me grow as a leader, a person, and a student.” A disc jockey for WESS since his freshman year in 2015, Gervasi rose to station manager. He oversaw the radio station’s officers and DJs, led projects and event coordination, roles that prepared him for his current job, with QVC in studio and live production.

MOSAIC Piece by piece, the picture becomes something beautiful Mosaic, the theme of the ESU Foundation’s 11th Annual Scholarship Dinner, connected scholarship recipients with donors on April 17, 2019, at the Stroudsmoor Country Inn in Stroudsburg, Pa. More than 275 guests celebrated the 636 scholarship awards totaling more than $940,000 administered by the ESU Foundation this year. The dinner was an opportunity for students to thank their donors and for donors to meet the students they supported this past school year.

East Stroudsburg University Office of Alumni Engagement The East Stroudsburg University Office of Alumni Engagement is responsible for the engagement of more than 48,000 Warrior alumni. With outreach via 10 chapters nationwide and through collaborative efforts with academic departments, athletic teams and other university administrative offices, Alumni Engagement strives to unite Warriors of all generations, keeping them connected with campus updates and happenings. In 20182019, Alumni Engagement hosted 25 events as well as Homecoming Weekend. The ESU Alumni Association Board of Directors is supported by the Office of Alumni Engagement. For a third year in a row, the board obtained 100 percent participation from its members, raising $2,770 in support of their annual scholarship. Collaborative efforts with the Office of Career Development assisted in the development of a LinkedIn page for the Warrior Alumni Mentoring Network initiative, enabling alumni to share their knowledge and skills with ESU students. The office also worked with university admissions for representation at four open houses and 10 new student/parent orientations throughout the year.

HOMECOMING

More than 25 alumni events were held throughout the year, regionally and nationally. Each of the 10 chapters hosted at least one event in 2018-2019 and during Family Weekend, 20 families were pinned at the Legacy Lunch and Pinning ceremony. There are currently more than 400 alumni identified as legacy family members, each continuing the tradition of multi-generations attending ESU.

Homecoming 2018, themed 125: Our Legacy, attracted more than 1,200 alumni, family and friends back to campus. The Class of 1968 kicked off the weekend with the Annual Alumni Awards and All Alumni Banquet by launching a campaign to raise funds for International Student Travel with a $12,500 challenge. Five alumni awards were also presented to alumni who have achieved excellence in their respective fields. They were honored at a banquet held on October 5, 2018, at Stroudsmoor Country Inn, Stroudsburg, Pa. Celebrating reunions during the weekend were the Classes of 1958 and 1968.

SOCIAL MEDIA/ COMMUNICATIONS Social media outreach on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter platforms grew with an overall 10 percent increase in followers. Successful social media initiatives included ESU couples for Valentine’s Day, share your commencement photos and the very successful #wherewarriorsgo summer vacation campaign. Alumni were kept up to speed with regular monthly e-news blasts and targeted e-mail notifications throughout the year. A relaunch of the alumni website was also a highlight, and the Alumni Herald, the official ESU magazine, was distributed twice during the year to more 31,000 alumni and friends of ESU.

I M PAC T When Dominic Walton, Class of 2020, was awarded three different scholarships, it inspired him to work harder as a thrower on East Stroudsburg University’s track and field team and as an accounting major in the classroom. “I feel like if I do well, I’ll be rewarded in some kind of way,” Walton said. Walton’s good grades were rewarded through the Students First Tuition Scholarship. Walton would like to be a forensics accountant for the U.S. government after graduation. “It makes me happy that what I’m doing takes the stress of fees and tuition off my parents. I want to make them proud and make them happy,” said Walton, who lives in Old Bridge, N.J. Walton also received the Dr. Richard and Mrs. Jean DeSchriver Track & Field Annual Scholarship,

established in the name of ESU’s former track and cross country coach, and the Barry S. Krammes ’04 Annual Scholarship, awarded to track and field team members who are throwers. Krammes is a world-class javelin thrower and currently coaches track & field at East Stroudsburg South High School.

“Track and field has had a big impact on my life. It can apply to daily life with time management, balance, and dealing with stress,” Walton said. Instead, she had intended to enroll at another university when she was notified it had overfunded and had to take back her financial aid. Left with shock, sadness, and nowhere to go, Munoz knew she would have to pull it together, work full time, save her money, and look for a cost-effective college.
