HAWAII

Shipping solutions for just about everything under the sun

Hawaii may be known as the Paradise of the Pacific, but the stress of making sure your freight arrives there safely can often end up feeling like anything but a vacation.

That’s where we come in.

At Estes, we draw upon more than 40 years of Hawaiian Islands shipping experience to make the process as seamless and hassle-free as possible. Your freight may be crossing an ocean, but you can rest assured knowing you only need to work with one carrier from start to finish—Estes.

Our Hawaii services include:

• Shipment tracking from origin to destination

• Simple documentation (all you need is a Bill of Lading)

• Frequent, reliable sailings

• Virtually all points coverage to the major islands of Oahu, Maui, Hawaii, and Kauai

• Port service to the islands of Molokai and Lanai

• Local shipping experts on the islands and the mainland

• LTL, LCL, FCL, and flat-bed service options

• Hazmat cargo

How It Works

Logistics-bar trailers and containers help protect your shipments

Your shipment will travel by Estes’ LTL ground to our La Mirada, CA, terminal. From there, we load the freight on either our own logistics-bar containers or on ocean containers reserved exclusively for Estes. The freight is then taken to the Port of Long Beach, where ocean transport providers sail directly to their first island of call—Oahu. Shipments destined for all other islands are trans-shipped to their appropriate destinations.

ALASKA

Reliability is just the tip of the iceberg

Sometimes sending your freight into rough waters is unavoidable. Which is why it’s important to choose a carrier you can trust.

At Estes, we know the ins and outs of Alaska shipping because we’ve been delivering there for more than 40 years. As one of the largest LTL carriers shipping to Alaska, we’re able to provide regular sailings and dependable delivery options all year round. Many of our containers are equipped with logistic bars and Estes’ proprietary Webb walls that help protect your shipments.

Our Alaska services include:

• Shipment tracking from origin to destination

• Simple documentation (all you need is a Bill of Lading)

• Frequent, reliable sailings

• Direct link to a comprehensive North American service network

• LTL/LCL, FTL/FCL, and flatbed service options

• Hazmat cargo

How It Works

Estes offers Seasonal Protect From Freezing (PFF) services

Your shipment will travel by Estes’ LTL ground to our Kent, WA terminal. From there, we load the freight bound for Anchorage, Fairbanks, and South Central Alaska/the Rail Belt on containers, many equipped with captive beams and Estes’ proprietary Webb walls. Freight bound for Southeast Alaska is loaded in dedicated ocean containers that travel by barge. Estes serves virtually every point in Alaska, however, most Alaska-bound freight goes to Anchorage and is trucked to its ultimate destination in markets such as Fairbanks and Kenai.

Note: Sailing service is to Anchorage, with ground service to Fairbanks South Central.

CARIBBEAN & PUERTO RICO

A simpler shipping experience from sea to shining sea

When it comes to shipping to the Caribbean or Puerto Rico, Estes has you covered. As a full-service carrier to the islands, Estes can handle virtually any type of cargo. And with more than 15 years of shipping experience in the region, we know how to keep the documentation process as simple for you as possible.

Just include the basic documentation with your shipment and we’ll handle the rest, making sure your freight is assigned a single PRO and a single point of contact us. You can breathe easier knowing you won’t have to deal with third parties, cartage carriers, or other agents to make sure your shipment gets where it needs to go. Many of our containers are equipped with logistic bars and Estes’ proprietary Webb walls that help protect your shipments. If you need help, we also offer documentation assistance for a small fee, and can help you file your Electronic Export Information (EEI) or process your tax payment through the Puerto Rico PICO system.

Our Caribbean and Puerto Rico services include:

• Shipment tracking from origin to destination

• Frequent, reliable sailings

• Direct link to a comprehensive North American service network

• LTL, LCL, flatbed, flat rack, volume and truckload, and FCL service options

• Hazmat cargo

How It Works:

Shipments to Puerto Rico sail from the Port of Jacksonville, but we also load dedicated containers at our Wilmington, DE terminal. Once your freight is loaded, our ocean carrier takes possession of the container and provides through service to Puerto Rico. Shipments to the East Indies are trans-loaded in San Juan, PR or sent to Miami, FL. From there, shipments are sent to their ultimate destination island.

FAQS

Does shipping to Alaska or Hawaii require any special forms or documentation?

Since both Alaska and Hawaii shipments are considered domestic freight, a Bill of Lading is the only required form. We deliver each shipment to Alaska or Hawaii on an Estes freight bill. Does shipping to Caribbean and Puerto Rico require any special forms or documentation?

Freight destined to the Caribbean or Puerto Rico requires a Bill of Lading, a Commercial Invoice, and an Electronic Export Information (EEI) filing. It’s very helpful to have the Commercial Invoice at the time of pickup whenever possible, and the importer’s Employer Identification Number (EIN) must be provided to avoid delays once the shipment arrives.

What is an Electronic Export Information (EEI) filing?

An Electronic Export Information (EEI) filing is required for single commodity items of $2,500 or more (some exceptions apply). The person or entity that receives the primary benefit, monetary or otherwise, from the export transaction is the party responsible for the EEI filing.

Specific information on the EEI includes the importer’s Employer Identification Number (EIN), the telephone number of the consignee, commodity description, weight or dimensions (or cube), and the invoice value.

Shippers can file an EEI themselves at www.cbp.gov/ace, or they can authorize Estes to file the EEI on their behalf by signing an authorization form and providing additional shipment information.

Will I be able to track my freight while it’s in transit?

Yes. You can track your offshore shipment online the same way you would track any other domestic freight with the PRO, Bill of Lading, Purchase Order, or Interline PRO numbers.
