Здесь отражены пессимистичные прогнозы развития мировой экономики. По данным Всемирного Банка, рост мирового ВВП составил 3.7 процента в 2007 году. По предварительной оценке на 2008 год, рост замедлится до 2.5 процентов, а в 2009 остановится на отметке 0.9 процентов. Экономический бум начала века прошел, и становится ясно, что кризис ударит даже по самым устойчивым экономикам мира. Предыдущие споры о том, что большинство развивающихся рынков не попадут под влияние финансового кризиса в Северной Америке и Европе, выглядят слишком оптимистично. Двузначные в прошлом десятилетии показатели роста ВВП в Китае, по прогнозам на 2009 год, составят лишь 7.5 процентов. По международным меркам это очень неплохо, но безработица растет, корпорации разоряются, а поток инвестиций уменьшается. Согласно прогнозам, в Индии рост ВВП уменьшится с 9 процентов до 5.8 в 2009 году, больше всего пострадает жилищный и розничный сектора экономики. Сильная зависимость от товаров промышленного производства и их иностранных потребителей, выльется в снижение темпов роста, что отразится, на кажущейся устойчивой экономике. Экономическое воздействие террористического акта, произошедшего недавно в Мумбае, вызвало сильную волну коррекции рынка. В Европе, в Еврозоне, реальный рост ВВП на 2007 год составил 2.6%. По прогнозам он опустится до 1.1% в 2008 году, а в 2009 даже станет отрицательным (ВВП снизится на 0.6%). Великобритания, сильно пострадала от серий разорений крупных банков и корпораций, спада цен на недвижимость и растущей безработицы. Крупная часть британской экономики находится в стадии перехода в государственную собственность, так как правительство делает инвестиции в системообразующие институты для поддержания стабильности. В США наблюдается беспрецедентный рост государственного долга, что является непременным атрибутом ее политики. В краткосрочной перспективе для британского фунта прогнозируется резкое изменение его позиции относительно Евро и Доллара. Исландия встретила финансовый Армагеддон в третьем квартале, и десятилетний рост экономики резко сократился. Германия, Франция и страны Бенилюкса предоставляют государственные займы для поддержки разоряющихся организаций, в частности компаниям, имеющим большое влияние на рынке недвижимости. В Восточной Европе обстановка такова: Россия пострадала от кризиса ликвидности и резкого изменения цен на товары широкого потребления. Быстро увеличивающийся импорт в период процветания в Польше, Чешской республике, Венгрии и Румынии, сейчас сменился на экономический спад.

В Канаде, в особенности в западных провинциях, зависимость от энергоносителей и товаров народного потребления, привела к экономическому буму в 2008 году, но к концу года рост замедлился. Тем не менее, национальным финансовым учреждениям удалось устранить худшие последствия удара кризиса, в отличие от их коллег из Европы и США. Выгода от коррекции мирового рынка, заключалась в быстром устранении инфляционного давления из ключевых экономик мира. Понижение инфляции дало правительствам возможность свободно использовать процентные ставки по кредитам в качестве оружия в борьбе со спадом в экономике и торговле.
