Day Camp Information
Clubhouse Day Camp is a great way for your children to stay active and have fun. Children will participate in active games, art and craft activities, and of course swim every day!
Things you Need to Know… Clubhouse Camp Clubhouse Camp is an exciting adventure! Day campers are grouped according to their age and campers will take part in personal choices, group activities and special theme programs. All activities emphasize fun, challenge, creativity, imagination and cooperation. Clubhouse Staff Camp staff are carefully selected based on their display of enthusiasm, leadership skills and judgement. All Camp Staff attend pre-camp training sessions, are certified in Standard First Aid, CPR, Automatic External Defibrillation, and HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development. Camper Drop-Off Children should be dropped off at the Essex Recreation Complex/Essex Community Centre gym lobby. In order to ensure maximum safety, sign-in sheets will be provided and it is important that parents or guardians ensure campers are signed in each day. The gym is a camper only zone; parents are to remain in the lobby. Release of Camper Policy Children should be dropped off and picked up in the lobby area. Sign-out sheets will be provided and the Camp Coordinator must receive written consent from parents/guardians should a child need to be released into the care of an adult other than the parent/caregiver. Parents/guardians picking up children must present valid photo identification to the camp staff prior to a child being released into their care. Please ensure campers are signed out each day. What to Bring Campers should bring the following with them every day: swimsuit and towel, water bottle, weather appropriate clothing and hat, sunscreen, running shoes, bagged lunch with two snacks and a drink. Weather The sun doesn’t have to be shining to have a good time at camp! All Camp programs will continue during inclement weather. Please dress your child appropriately. Medical Information Health and safety are the Town’s top priorities. Please ensure your child’s information is accurate by completing the online ePACT registration from, and upload a small picture of your child. Medication must be prescribed by a physician, stored in original containers only and will be kept in a locked box. If your child develops a communicable disease during Camp (e.g. pink eye), we ask that you inform staff immediately. This will allow the Town to inform other participants and allow them to take the necessary precautions.

Withdrawal Regular Camp day is from 7:30am–6:00pm.
Early drop-off and late pick-up are now included in the regular camp hours. Parents may drop-off and pick-up any time between 7:30am and 6:00pm. Exciting trips are planned every week for an additional $25 (optional). Sign up at the front desk by 4:30pm on the day before the field trip to ensure your child has a place on the bus. Trips may be subject to change. Regular camp schedule will continue for those who stay back at camp. Multiple child discounts are available on full week registrations. 5% discount for two, or 10% discount with three or more family members registering. Financial Assistance is available for those who qualify.

The Town of Essex runs a variety of training workshops for children on PA Days. Our trained and certified staff will ensure children spend the day learning and having fun in a safe environment. PA Day/ Educational Workshops & Training

PA Day Clubhouse Day Camp Children will participate in games, arts, crafts, fitness challenges, and playing sports. The program takes place between 7:30am and 6:00pm.

My Safe Life – Personal Safety for Kids Children learn life skills that empower them to make safe, caring and respectful decisions in their everyday lives both online and offline. Traditional gaming, digital media, video, role play and repetition are used to educate and engage children in a fun and interactive manner. Children can be dropped off after 8:30am. This is an SOS4Kids program.

Babysitter Training Canada Safety Council certificate program has been developed for youth ages 12 to 17 where participants will learn skills to become more responsible babysitters. The workshop will cover a variety of topics including nutrition, safety, handling emergencies, first aid, games and much more. Children can be dropped off after 8:30am.

Emergency First Aid Training This emergency first aid camp certifies participants in CPR-B and Emergency First Aid which is recognized by WSIB. Participants will gain a general knowledge of first aid principles and the emergency treatment of injuries including: victim assessment, CPR, choking, and what to do for external bleeding, heart attack, stroke, wounds, and burns.

Fire Fighter and First Aid Training Town of Essex firefighters will provide hands-on sessions including fire extinguisher training, using a fire hose, ladder training, and participants will be put through several challenges. This program is designed to learn what is involved in becoming a firefighter. Most of the day will take place on site at Essex Fire Station 1. Participants will swim in the afternoon, and may ride in a fire truck. This includes certification - Basic First Aid / CPRA.

† The Lifesaving Society’s Swim for Life program is offered Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday for 45 minutes during camp hours - 1:45pm until 2:30pm. Staff will ensure your child is changed and ready to swim with our qualified swimming instructors at the designated time - it’s just one less thing for your “to-do list” this summer!
Please sign up for the swimming lesson that coordinates to your child’s weekly day camp registration and your child will be placed in the appropriate level. Registration will close on the Friday at 4:30pm of the week before lessons begin. Register early – Don’t miss out!
*Day Camp field trips are an optional add-on to camp for $25, and the location is subject to change based on weather conditions, number of campers, and availability at the site. Campers who decide not to participate in the field trip will have their regular daily activities to keep them busy! Registration closes the day before each field trip at 4:30pm, so please register in advance.


Clubhouse Day Camp Themes

Children participate in active games, art and craft activities, and of course swim every day! The activities will focus on weekly themes throughout the summer.
Week Themes Description 1 All Ball Junior/Intermediate/ Senior Campers will play all the traditional ball sports like basketball, football and volleyball. They will also try some unique ball games like gaga ball, bocce ball and Quickball. Other fun activities will include making popcorn balls and a juggling workshop. 2 It All Starts with a Little Bit of Magic Junior Can you feel the magic in the air? Campers will get a taste of magical moments they see every time they watch a Disney movie. Meet some of the iconic characters like Cinderella, Aladdin, Nemo and Ariel. They all look forward to bringing the magic to us. Harry Potter Intermediate/Senior Welcome witches, wizards and muggles! In this week of sports and games, campers will participate in fun filled adventures on Hogwarts ground. Campers will partake in wizarding traditions while being mentored by some of the most renowned witches and wizards of the new generation. 3 Clubhouse Colour Wars Junior/Intermediate/ Senior Colour Wars has finally arrived at the Essex Day Camp. Join us for a week of competition as RED and BLUE go up against each other to win the Colour War Games. 4 Rescue 911 Junior/Intermediate Safety first! Our camp rescuers will learn all about safety and emergency services. Activities will include a Jr. firefighter combat challenge, creating their own police badges and touring an ambulance. Lights, Camera, ACTION! Senior Lights, Camera, ACTION; Now on with the show. We will summon the campers’ inner drama queen and put it to creative good use at our talent week where we will sing, dance and act our hearts’ out. 5 Goin’ Green Junior/Intermediate/ Senior Camp will go green and eco-friendly for a week. Campers will learn all about the environment and recycling. They will go on bike rides, explore Sadler’s Pond and use recycled materials to create artworks. 6 Dr. Seuss Junior Dr. Seuss has come to visit. The Lorax sure wouldn’t miss it. Come eat green eggs and ham. As you sing with Sam, I am. There’s tons of fun to be had at the place where no one’s sad. Into the Woods Intermediate/Senior Sharpen your wilderness survival skills this summer! Campers will learn what it takes to survive in the wild: Preparing shelters, navigating, making tools. We’ll play fun outdoor games. 7 Holiday Extravaganza Junior/Intermediate/ Senior Aren’t the Holidays a great time of year? Why not celebrate them all in one week. Campers will get to experience multiple Holidays through the weeks. Campers will get a chance to experience Christmas in August, Easter egg hunts in the middle of summer and New Year’s by the pool. 8 Under the Big Top Junior/Intermediate Prepare to be amazed! Campers will spend the week at the circus. They will learn magic tricks, clown jokes and entertaining acts. There will be a Clubhouse circus performance at the end of the week. Clubhouse Pirate Adventures Senior Become a Clubhouse pirate for a week. Campers will race their pirate ships, design eye patches, and search for buried treasure. 9 Inventors Workshop Junior/Intermediate/ Senior Eureka! Let’s spend the week building, experimenting, and using our imaginations! Campers will build Lego structures, create board games, and code robots. 10 Hawaiian Hullabaloo Junior/Intermediate/ Senior Let’s celebrate the end of summer! We’ll have some fun in the sun on the last week of camp. Our Clubhouse luau party will include designing leis, limbo, water games and hunting for seashells.
