Learn about advanced lifesaving and supervision skills. *Step 1 Challenge yourself with more advanced training and be introduced to aquatic safety supervision. Assistant Instructor Start learning how to teach others to swim. *14yr + Step 2 Learn to help instructors with swimming and lifesaving classes through classroom learning and in-water practice. High Five PHCD Learn to teach quality programs that foster healthy childhood development. *14yr Develop an ability to provide quality programming and positive experiences for children. LSS Instructor Learn to teach swimming lessons, rst aid and leadership. *16yr + Steps 2 + 3 Includes two courses: Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor and Lifesaving Instructor. *Pre-requisites required to enroll 4 3 2 5 National Lifeguard Canada’s only nationally recognized lifeguard certication. *16yr + Step 2 Develop an understanding of lifeguarding principles, good judgement, and a mature and responsible attitude toward the lifeguard’s role. 6 Completed all the steps? Bronze Medallion

Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid Bronze Medallion teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue, judgement, knowledge, skill and fitness. Candidates must be 13 or have successfully completed Bronze Star. Course includes mix of classroom and pool learning – paper, pen, Canadian Lifesaving Manual and bathing suit required.

National Lifeguard and Standard First Aid The National Lifeguard certification consists of a core material dealing with guarding principles and techniques, together with specific items leading to certification in the NL Pool option. Candidates must be 16 and have successfully completed Bronze Cross. 100% attendance required as candidates are continuously evaluated.

LSS Instructors

Lifesaving Society Instructor School The Lifesaving Society Instructor and Swim Instructor course focuses on preparing the instructor to teach and evaluate basic swim strokes and related skills, and certify candidates in Canadian Swim Patrol, Bronze Family, Fitness and BFA/EFA and CPR. Candidates acquire proven teaching methods, a variety of stroke development drills and correction techniques. Candidates will be required to do some assistant teaching as part of the course. Candidates must be 16 and have successfully completed Bronze Cross by the end of the course. 100% attendance required as candidates are continuously evaluated.
