Chris Skeith - ESSA Director “Welcome to our new quarterly update. It’s been a number of years since we sent out regular hard copy member news letters, but with such a great start to 2014 and so much to tell you about, we didn’t want you to miss out on our news stories, events and whereabouts simply because everything appears to live ‘online’ these days. So harking back to a more traditional way of getting news to you, we hope you enjoy spending 5 minutes taking in what is really a snapshot of ESSA’s recent breaking news”.

G5 commit to endorse ESSA Major victory for our campaign promoting ESSA members, with the decision of the G5 (Clarion Events, dmg :: events, Mayridge Group Ltd, Reed Exhibitions, UBM Plc) to promote the “Use an ESSA member”

The “Use an ESSA member” campaign has gone from strength to strength, resulting in significant interest and business wins for members.

Simon Perry, formerly sales executive with the Association of Event Organisers (AEO), joined ESSA in December 2013. Simon's experience of the event and leisure industries will make him a valuable addition to the ESSA team. Simon will be working closely with Andrew Harrison, ESSA deputy director, to increase the take up of our core services and benefits amongst members. Simon will also have responsibility for continuing the growth of ESSA's membership, and building even greater brand awareness. Andrew commented "We've got a big year ahead, and it's clear Simon shares our ambition to drive up engagement with, and membership of, the association."

One key target audience for the campaign is Event Organisers, and to have such commitment from such major players is a major endorsement of the value they place on the use of ESSA members. Chris Skeith ESSA director said ‘having endorsement from the G5 is a major milestone for the campaign, and we hope this move will encourage more event organisers to include ‘Use an ESSA member’ in their manuals, which in turn will help generate more work for our members and provide more security for their mutual customers.’

Andrew Harrison ESSA's deputy director, explained ESSA's decision "ESSA is adding further momentum to the campaign with these exhibition presences, promoting ESSA membership as a mark of quality assurance, standards compliance and best practice. Both EPS and Confex have a superb record in bringing together the most influential and notable decision makers in the industry and our message to them has never been clearer. We know from our own published research just how effective live marketing is, and both these exhibitions represent golden opportunities for us to communicate the clear benefits and advantages of choosing an ESSA member."

Chris Skeith, said "MWL provides a fantastic opportunity for members to engage directly with big brands and marketeers and develop personal relationships showing off their talent on the exhibition floor, and we see many members seizing this opportunity. In addition we continue our drive to promote the use of ESSA members and will be taking a stand ourselves, to show visitors the benefits of using an ESSA member."

ESSA supports the g-Guide ESSA has declared its support for the g-Guide, a document whose guidance is aimed at creating a set

ed minimum standard to which organisers aspire to, in connection with running an event / exhibition. The document calls upon organisers' employees, contractors and exhibitors to comply with these guidelines, the organiser's health and safety policy and local relevant laws regarding health and safety; to safeguard the health and safety of themselves and others who may be affected by their acts or omissions; to seek advice where there is any doubt regarding the correct action to take or the standard required, and to comply with the reasonable requests of the organiser's appointed health and safety staff and floor managers or any other health and safety official. The industry has seen a very strong move towards harmonised standards in the UK and we are pleased to see this principle being extended overseas.
