Spring Review 2015

FaceTime Exhibitor Masterclass Partnership This year we partnered with the FaceTime Exhibitor Masterclasses and February saw the first masterclass of the year at ExCeL London with a packed day of education and inspiration!

“Welcome to your Spring Review. We’ve had a brilliant start to the year with plenty of activity, renewals and new members, and we’re busy planning the Summer months ahead. As part of my new Sales Manager role, I aim to acquire new members and look to increase ESSA membership each year. The ESSA membership is wide ranging and there are lots of opportunities to gain new members. It is my responsibility to ensure each prospect understands how ESSA membership can benefit their specific requirements. Under the sales banner I also deal with the selling of our AGM, In The Rough Charity Golf Day and G50 Conference events, whether it be to look for sponsors or speaking with our members who hope to attend. As part of my Account Management role, I work closely with our Membership Manager Christine, to answer any questions or queries our members have. We will always try and find the answer, and if we can’t we know the ESSA community are on hand to supply useful information. As part of the role, members can arrange bespoke meetings with me where we can discuss the next 12 months and ensure they are receiving all the possible benefits.”

New Members We’ve had 9 new members since the last review! ● X-Venture ● Lotus Exhibitions Ltd ● Macro Art Ltd ● Europcar UK Ltd ● EventShaper ● DKV Euro Service Benelux VOF ● Skala Contracts ● Zibrant ● Insight Graphics

As official partners to the event we showed our support by promoting our ‘Use an ESSA Member’ campaign, and giving you, our members, exposure to the thousands of companies in attendance who are scheduled to exhibit or run an event in the coming year.

Use An ESSA Member This year we have moved leaps and bounds in promoting our Use An ESSA Member initiative. Not only have we branded the campaign and showcased it at the FaceTime Exhibitor Masterclass, we have also been proactive in developing a digital strategy around this utilising email shots and social platforms which reach thousands of targeted industry professionals. UAEM aims to bring you, our members, to the attention of as many potential clients as we can, and prove just how ESSA members provide superior services.

CDM After more than two years of working and engaging closely with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), via cross-association member working groups, sector committees,

one-to-one meetings and industry forums, the Event Supplier and Services Association (ESSA), the Association of Event Venues (AEV), and the Association of Event Organisers (AEO), are now able to advise members and the wider industry of their plans. The associations are to roll out a number of new initiatives to help their members understand and operate in the same efficient manner as always, whilst complying with the now enforced Construction, Design & Management (CDM) 2015 regulations.

In February our CDM task-force met to discuss the most recent developments. Within these discussions with the HSE and JACE, we have established that a revised draft will be drawn up to better address our industry. The industry specific guidance described by Andrew Harrison, ESSA Director seeks to map and recognise current industry practice, using existing regulations and best practice to meet the new CDM regulations. In addition to this, the associations have committed to hold a number of free to attend CDM educational road-shows over the coming weeks. These will be spread geographically across the UK. We will be commissioning an event specific CDM app and web based solution to enable companies to comply with the submission of relevant documentation, and to enable a step-by-step understanding of the new regulations including roles and responsibilities. All relevant information will also be made available via hardcopy, and digital, ‘how to comply’ documents, providing simple step by step guides to complying with CDM2015.

Moving on Up Congratulations are in order to some of our team! Christine Hasler will now be Membership & Events Manager and in charge of all membership enquiries as well as the organisation of our events. For any queries around your membership, feel free to contact Christine at: christine@essa.uk.com

Simon Perry is now Sales & Account Manager, so if you would like to arrange a bespoke Account Management meeting or discuss sponsoring any of our events please contact Simon at: simon@essa.uk.com

Organised by ESSA and supported by the Association of Event Organisers (AEO), Association of Event Venues (AEV) and industry promotional body FaceTime, In The Rough has become a popular event in the industry calendar, and a generous donor to charity. Every year In The Rough raises money for two charities, one that works in the UK and one that works overseas. This year we will be working again with Lords Taverner’s and Events for Namuwongo. There will be the opportunity for over 80 players to battle it out on the fairways and the greens, and an evening gala dinner with award presentations and fundraising activities to round off the day for golfers industry guests. We’ve had fantastic interest in this year’s event, with over 75% of teams already snapped up! We’re sure it will be another successful day for all involved - well, we’re looking FOREward to it!
