How E Cigs are Banned and Regulated in Some Countries but Smoking isn't

The smokeless cigarette has been always under controversy as well as debate ever since they were introduced in the market. While many look at them as a harmless alternative for smoking, there are also a few who consider this innovation as harmful as real cigarettes. The advocates on behalf of e cigarettes always recommend that smokeless cigarettes should be marketed and distributed without any restriction as they do not contain any nicotine, do not produce any smoke and make any harm to the human body. A very recent study in Greece has demonstrated that e cigarettes do not cause any heart issue among its users. However, not everyone will concur with this and keep on protesting e cigarettes along with real cigarettes as well. This is why; you will see that the e cigarettes have different rules and regulation in different nations. If you just see how the e cigarettes are regulated in a few nations, you will get really surprised to see how they are being controlled.

It wasn’t a long time when the smokeless cigarettes were introduced to the market. To be precise, it was 2003 when this electric gadget was first produced and distributed on a commercial level. As they are relatively new in the market, the legislation of smokeless cigarettes is currently pending in many countries. However, there are a few countries who have already decided their stance regarding e cigarettes and you will be shocked to see that some of the nations have banned the production, distribution and advertisement of electronic cigs. There are also a few countries that have developed and devised a very restrictive policy to regulate the electronic-cigarettes and other related products. However, they haven’t banned smoking which seems to really absurd to me.

Take the example of many countries such as Lebanon, Finland, Estonia, and many others nations who have strict policy against e cigarettes and sale of any electronic smoking products with nicotine in it is absolutely forbidden in those nations. From March 2009, Canada has also prohibited the import, sale, and advertising of e-cig containing nicotine. However they have kept the non-nicotine e cigarettes as legal to be imported, sold and promoted through advertisement. It is also banned in Australia which classifies tobacco as poison and doesn’t allow promoting or advertising them. In line with this; the sale, import and advertisement of any kind of smokeless cigarette is also forbidden In Brazil as well. However, none of these nations have a ban on smoking or real cigarettes which are even more harmful to the smokers as well as people around them.

Many people argue that if the government and the policy makers are so concerned about public health, they should also ban the real cigarettes along with the smokeless cigarettes. They produce harmful smoke and cause more health issues than the e cig. However, still the government doesn’t take any severe action against them except for fixing a very high tax on the tobacco products. Probably the government isn’t banning smoking entirely as they get a big amount of revenue from this industry.
