SELF-PERFORM SERVICES Concrete Division ESI’s concrete division has more than 175 experts in the field and a dedicated office support team that specialize in structural concrete, site concrete, flatwork, tilt-up and concrete paving, removal, and replacement. Our teams have completed quality concrete projects for: • Industrial • Commercial • Education • Civic • Community living • Retail Projects range from a 200 square-foot remove and replace to 600,000 square-foot new paving projects. Structural concrete work includes everything from dock replacements to high-rise office buildings.

We’ve placed curb and gutter, walkways, footings and foundations, cast-in-place elevator pits/cores, concrete pads, post-tensioned podiums, multi-level concrete buildings and parking garages.

ESI also maintains a professional staff of earthwork and utility specialists with extensive experience in mass grading, utility installation, structural excavation and fine grading. In 2021, ESI conducted its sixth annual Safety Stand Down for Fall Safety event with more than 500 construction workers in attendance. The Stand Down included ESI and subcontractor’s employees.

The safety training included a demonstration on correct use of fall protection.

One attendee reported it was the best Stand Down they have ever attended and took several of our safety compliance processes home to their team.

Training requirements are the first step in advancing our team’s competency.

Our people and our partnerships are important to us. We take pride in ensuring we all return home to what really matters, safely and healthy, every day, what we call our Level 4 Safety Commitment. All employees receive initial safety orientation training to effectively prepare them to implement site-specific safety policies, programs and site rules, ensuring all are aware of the hazards they may encounter and how to implement the proper precautions. Training continues throughout employment and includes 10 and 30 hour OSHA, CPR/First Aid and Forklift operations training along with task-specific safety training. In addition, mandatory weekly safety meetings are conducted each week to address safety topics pertinent to current work.

INSPECTIONS

Our team has experienced, trained professionals dedicated to ESI’s success which hold certifications such as Authorized OSHA 500/510 trainers, Board of Certified Safety Professionals credentials, and ASP. Other specialized training is presented as needed, which includes but is not limited to fall protection, scaffolding, hazardous materials and demolition.

Training Superintendents monitor each project individually and adjust site plans to ensure safety compliance from contracts to closeout. The ESI safety team evaluates projects and conducts formal audits, statistically measured based on the data collected, and provides any necessary training.

Monitoring Projects Responsibility for on-site safety inspections is shared between the safety team and project personnel. Site personnel perform regular safety inspections while our field safety director visits the sites periodically to perform additional reviews which includes monitoring overall safety program implementation and specialty contractor compliance.

OSHA PARTNERSHIP ESI and OSHA formed a strategic partnership in 2001 which is a unique agreement designed to encourage, assist, and recognize ESI efforts to eliminate serious hazards and enhance workplace safety and health practices. ESI and OSHA work together to establish goals, strategies and performance measures to continually improve worker safety and health.

Project descrip�on Manage and construct six high clearance concrete tilt-up structures on 61.62 acres of IP zoned land for a Denver based private equity firm, Bow River Capital.

Phase One The first phase of the master planned industrial park includes two 135,000 square-foot buildings and one 192,000 square-foot building. All buildings are rear loaded, dock accessible, 32’ clear and include at grade parking. Fenced outdoor storage will also be available for excess tenant storage Phase Two ESI was also selected to complete phase two of the project, which is currently underway. This phase includes three additional high-clearance tilt-up buildings totaling 439,600 square feet.

ESI served as design-builder, general contractor and construction manager for Scentsy’s new 60-acre campus, which serves the company’s corporate, manufacturing and distribution arms.

The new campus includes a distribution facility that incorporates a dozen loading docks for shipping inventory.

The distribution center is 158,976 square feet, and there are two floors of office space plus a mezzanine, totalling almost 32,000 square feet.

ESI also designed and constructed a 1,250 linear-foot rail spur and transfer and storage system for liquid wax deliveries utilizing the adjacent railroad tracks.

The break room and restroom portions and partially covered exterior walls are made of stone cladding. The main roof covering is white 60 milliliter single ply TPO roofing. Break room and restroom walls are painted gypsum board and the ceilings are mostly open to structure with some gypsum board ceilings.

All floors are to be sealed concrete.

The project included 586,345 square feet of concrete paving and over 500,000 square feet sloped slab-on-grade; elevated concrete decks, including insulated decks; multiple support structures; chemical tank structure; silt collection structure; numerous sump facilities, ranging in depth from 5 to 20 feet; below and above grade loading docks.

ESI served as the design builder for a new building and site at a hops manufacturing plant in Montana.

Flathead Valley Hops is a campus of 5 acres, and ESI constructed three pre-engineered structural steel buildings. There is a plucker building that processes the hops, a pelletizer building that converts the processed hops into pellets, and a freezer building for cold storage.

Total square footage of these buildings is 26,852.

Mill 95 is a campus of 20 acres, ten of which are initially being developed to include parking, landscaping with water features, a small solar farm, truck dock, truck scale plus a hop growing area to be used for demonstrations.

ESI constructed two pre-engineered structural steel cold storage buildings connected with a covered breezeway. Total square footage of these buildings is 48,216, accommodating approximately 1.2 million cubic feet of hops storage capacity.

In addition, ESI built a 13,200 square-foot Pelletizing Mill building and a 6,600-square-foot brewery building that provides a venue for visitors to sample brews and to lease for special events.

ESI was the design-builder for a new PerforMix Nutrition Systems, LLC. plant, which manufactures nutritional supplements for livestock and distributes its products to farms, dairies and ranchers throughout the Pacific Northwest. The project involved design and construction of five pre-engineered metal building structures and four tank farm foundations set on a 6.58 acre site fully developed with UG utility infrastructure, rail spur for bulk material deliveries, truck bellydump offloading area, an in-ground elevator for the receipt and distribution of raw materials, spill containment basins, tractor trailer parking and staging areas, as well as a truck scale.

Buildings were finished with associated offices, control rooms, break rooms, warehousing & storage mezzanines, product conveying systems, tanks for raw materials and finished products, manufacturing and distribution piping, pumps, mixers automated control systems for monitoring materials inventory, finished product inventory, and various process adjustments during manufacturing. ESI self-performed all of the concrete work.

ESI was the design-builder for a new 388,000 square-foot manufacturing facility and an attached two-story, 22,000 square foot office building. The Autovol Nampa Industrial Building is the first of its kind in the state of Idaho. The innovative project uses robotics to manufacture automated volumetric construction housing units for affordable housing projects. The scope of work included a design to accommodate a manufacturing facility that utilizes a sophisticated robotics fabrication process and administrative spaces. Construction included a concrete slab-on-grade with steel fame and steel bar joists roof framing, and exterior walls that are finished primarily with pre-finished metal siding except the office portion is primarily exterior insulation and finish system with clear anodized aluminum storefront assemblies. The manufacturing portion of the building has a volume of approximately 15,506,700 cubic feet.

ESI’s concrete division self-performed all of the concrete work, including steel structures with spreads, wall and fi�ng, slab on grade, and slab on deck work. The site work consisted of light and heavy-duty concrete paving.

ESI was the design-builder for the Beverly Industrial Park project, which consists of three new pre-engineered metal buildings on a five acre site. The site was completely redeveloped, including waterway relocation, underground utilities, asphalt paving, concrete paving, site lighting, landscaping, etc.

The three buildings consist of a 20,000-square-foot industrial office/warehouse, a 10,500 square-foot shop, and a 5,000 square-foot open shed.

ESI constructed a massive food distribution center, a truck returns/maintenance building, driver waiting building, guard house and a fire pump house on a 77-acre site. The warehouse includes three refrigeration/cooling spaces: a 100,000 squarefoot-10º freezer, a 93,165 square-foot 34º storage space and a 55,707 square-foot 55º storage area.

The facility also has 125 dock doors to receive trucks.

The building work included concrete foundations, CMU walls, steel structural columns and steel bar joists, roof framing, insulated metal wall panels, single-ply roofing membrane, interior concrete floor slabs, exterior concrete slabs and walkways. Sitework included grading, paving, utilities, erosion control and parking lot landscaping.

Intermountain Blending & Filling is a 166,694 square-foot single story warehouse with office space and three individual laboratories for product research and development. It also houses approximately 60,000 square feet of a processing facility with storage.

The building is constructed of tilt-up sandwich wall panels, steel girders with open web steel joists, steel deck, single ply TPO roof with metal framed skylights and a stone masonry facade.

Services provided include preconstruction, general contracting and construction management.

ESI is the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) for the process wastewater, domestic wastewater, domestic water, irrigation and land application for the True West Beef processing plant near Jerome, Idaho.

Pretreatment of the process wastewater is being provided with screening, grit removal, and dissolved air flotation. Following pretreatment, process wastewater is further treated via anaerobic digestion in a 6 million gallon covered anaerobic lagoon, a sequencing batch reactor for nitrogen removal, and solids dewatering. Biogas from the anaerobic digestion is recovered, conditioned, and reused in the beef processing plant facilities. Process wastewater effluent is conveyed to irrigation storage ponds and land applied during the irrigation season through multiple irrigation pivot sprinklers. The domestic wastewater (i.e., sanitary sewage) system includes a septic system with large soil absorption system (LSAS). The domestic water system includes two new potable water wells, a 1.0 million gallon water storage tank, water booster pumping station with fire flow capacity, and onsite water distribution system with water service connections and fire hydrants. The irrigation and land application systems include 7 acre and 20 acre ponds, and multiple irrigation pumping stations and pivot sprinklers. ESI is also the CM/GC for the fabrication, harvest, and security buildings of this True West Beef facility.

ESI self-performed the installation of 480,000 lbs of reinforcing steel on the Kraft Heinz WWTP. Construction consists of a 40-foot diameter by 20 foot tall sidewater depth secondary clarifier, effluent building and support buildings. ESI supplied and installed all of the rebar for this project.
