ANDLEEB
ZAIDI
A 26 years old model based in Hyderabad. A graduate in accessories designing from NIFT, Hyderabad. Few things you ought to know about her are she’s an avid animal lover and love to spend her leisure time painting canvases, watching K-dramas and sipping coffee while looking at a beautiful landscape.
How did you become a Fashion Model?
While I was pursuing my education at NIFT, I was a very shy girl. I Used to feel insecure about being tall and skinny but my seniors used to scout me all the time for their photography assignments. One fine day, few of my seniors signed me up for the Femina Miss India audition. They convinced me that I would prove my worthiness on a national platform and so I did. After being a participant of a renowned beauty pageant, I started scoring good modelling assignments. That’s how a camera-shy girl who couldn’t even walk in heels entered the world of fashion.
What is your dream to work for?
My dream is to work for myself and be my own boss in five years down the lane.
What is a typical day like in your life?
On a typical day, when I’m not shooting I wake up around 9 am and prepare my breakfast which is usually fruits with toast and coffee. After I finish cleaning my house, I grab a light lunch and then head out to the gym. My workout usually lasts for an hour. Post that I go around the area to feed the stray dogs and return home. I meet my partners to work
on our business model and after all the goals for the day have been accomplished, I cuddle with my cats while watching Kdramas until I fall asleep. On the day of shoots, I wake up around 4 or 5 am, grab my coffee and head out to the shooting location.
What does it take to be successful in the field you excel in?
It takes a lot of physical as well as mental strength to excel in the competitive and ever-changing industry of fashion but one of the most important things which help to survive the cutthroat competition is being self-aware. If you know how you feel and what you want at a particular time in your life, you will be able to prepare yourself mentally and physically for the challenges to come.
What do you do in your free time?
I go to nearby cafes and sip hot coffee while chilling with my friends when I want to be out on my day off. When I’m at home, I love being creative and creating something new or just taking a nap with my forever lazy cats.
Tell us a funny incident which happened to you?

PAINTING PICNICS AT KBR PARK: FOSTERING CREATIVITY AWAY FROM THE CORPORATE GRIND
IN THE HEART OF JUBILEE HILLS, AS CITY SOUNDS FADE BEHIND THE TREE LINE OF KBR PARK, A DIFFERENT KIND OF COMMUNITY GATHERS EVERY SATURDAY FROM 4 TO 6 PM. PAINTS, SNACKS, AND STORIES ARE UNPACKED ON PICNIC MATS, AND WHAT UNFOLDS IS MORE THAN JUST ART — IT’S A BREATH OF FRESH AIR, A RITUAL OF SLOWING DOWN, A SPACE WHERE CREATIVITY FLOWS WITHOUT JUDGMENT.
BY SHWETA WATSON
“Working in a corporate environment focused on productivity, I craved an activity free from obligations and deadlines. Here, I'm known for not always finishing my paintings because I savour the process, and no one judges me for it,” shares Yashaswini Kollur, a 26-year-old clinical dietician, who has been part of Hyderabad Paints since last year.
The community, started in January 2024 by architect Sravani Rasineni and her friend Mavika, now has over 1,200 members and counting What began as an attempt to mirror similar creative meetups in other cities has grown organically, without frills or formal promotions.
“When I learned that several cities across the country have painting communities meeting in parks, I immediately felt Hyderabad needed one too. So, an artist-friend Mavika, and I started this last January, driven by my passion for building a stable creative community. Although Mavika has moved away, I've kept it going Our vision is to create a safe space where creators can consistently show up and thrive. We don't focus much on marketing; we prefer to keep it organic and authentic," she shares "As the summer heat was a lot we had a couple of meetups in cafes this month but we are planning to get back to KBR as the monsoon is almost onset,” Sravani adds.
Hyderabad Paints also hosts expressive art therapy workshops, where participants dive into their emotions through guided sessions. “These three-hour workshops are led by a yoga instructor named Anusha,” Sravani adds “They’re not about skill, but about release people explore memories, moods, and even silence through colour."
The sense of camaraderie and no-pressure painting draws people from across professions “Zoning out under the trees every Saturday with a paintbrush in hand is the ideal way to de-stress after a hectic week. Transitioning from my professional life as a designer, where I'm glued to my laptop, to exploring watercolours is a breath of fresh air We organise our meetings through our Instagram page and WhatsApp group, and we're always ready to share art supplies if anyone forgets something,” says 29-year-old designer Ravi Tej.
In this digital age, where consumption is rampant, this community encourages people to express their creativity, especially those who might feel creatively blocked "We sometimes set themes, like a postcard theme where everyone made postcards, but usually, it's free-flowing. Typically, about 15–20 people gather each week. While painting, we discuss significant topics like gender bias, love, the environmental crisis, work, and more,” Sravani adds.
For some, the journey into art has been serendipitous “Before joining the painting community, I wasn't an artist; I was actually involved with the reading community at KBR Park. One day, I gave painting a try at Hyderabad Paints. Despite feeling like I didn't do well, the encouragement from the community inspired me to continue learning Now, I draw subjects that are meaningful to me, including characters from my favourite game, Lost in Random,” says 25-year-old software developer PV Tejas.
And for Yashaswini, it’s become more than just a weekend routine “In small towns and villages, there's a tradition of evening gatherings where people come together to chat and enjoy each other's company. I sought something similar in Hyderabad and discovered this painting community in June last year. I work from Monday to Friday, but every Saturday, I eagerly anticipate this event. My art involves pastel crayons, capturing scenes of nature, insects, and the conversations happening around me. I'm currently learning watercolor painting and digital art I also love buying new stationery," she concludes.

Acting is meditation for me: Nabha Natesh reflects on 10 years in cinema
With a steaming cup of filter coffee in hand and eyes gleaming with stories waiting to be told, Nabha Natesh joined us for a warm and candid chat. As she marked a decade in the entertainment industry perfectly timed with our magazine’s 15-year milestone the actress opened up about her eventful journey in films, her upcoming projects, her passion for food, fitness routines, and love for travel Here are some delightful excerpts from our conversation:
Q. What are you working on currently?
Right now, I’m shooting for two exciting pan-India projects Swayambhu and Nagabandham Both films are on a grand scale, not just in terms of budget but also in storytelling They’re mythological dramas with elaborate sets and rich visuals, and I’m stepping into a completely new space with these roles. I’ll be seen in traditional Indian looks, adorned with stunning jewellery and vibrant costumes, which I personally find very captivating. Working with Nikhil in Swayambhu has been super fun he’s very chill on set but also incredibly focused and supportive, which makes collaboration easy In Nagabandham, I’m working alongside Virat Karrna, who’s extremely hardworking and brings a strong screen presence that adds so much to the film.
Q. You’ve completed 10 years in the industry. How do you feel?
It honestly feels surreal. I began my journey with the Kannada film Vajrakaya in 2015 and later stepped into Telugu cinema with Nannu Dochukunduvate in 2018 Hitting a milestone like this makes you pause and reflect on why you started and for me, it’s always been the pure love for cinema. Every time I watch a beautiful film, it reignites that spark and inspires me to do more. Even before I entered the film industry, I was actively involved in theatre Acting has always felt like meditation to me it’s the one space where you can truly be yourself. I hope this journey continues to be just as exciting, and moving forward, I’m eager to explore different genres and push my boundaries as an actor
Q. What is your workout routine like?
I follow a pretty intense fitness regime and hit the gym six days a week Mornings are dedicated to weight training, while evenings are usually reserved for cardio. I also incorporate swimming and dancing into my routine they keep things fun and help me stay fit in different ways. With both my shoot schedules and workouts being so demanding, fitness has become a core part of my lifestyle. I’ve also been practising yoga since childhood, and every morning I spend about 45 minutes meditating It really helps align my mind and body for the day ahead Interestingly, Ritu Varma and I go to the same gym. She was training with my trainer for a while, and we occasionally work out together. There was this one day when we had such a fun session that our trainer found it hard to keep us focused we were too busy enjoying ourselves!
Q. What does Nabha eat in a day?
I’m a total coffee lover, so my day always begins with a small cup just the aroma is enough to wake me up! I also start my mornings with a drink made of moringa powder, lime juice, salt, and hot water it's a great detox. Before my workout, I usually have boiled eggs, and post-workout, I go for a protein shake along with chicken or fish
My meals are high in protein and low in carbs. I snack on fruits, veggies, and some nuts in the evening, and often end the day with eggs for dinner. It’s not anything too fancy just simple, fresh, and home-cooked food that keeps me energised and feeling good
Q. Tell us a little about your travel sojourns…
I grew up surrounded by nature in a town called Sringeri in the Western Ghats of Karnataka, so I’ve always felt deeply connected to the outdoors be it mountains, trees, oceans, or just peaceful surroundings. Nature is where I go to recharge; it grounds me and feels like a form of spirituality. Travel, for me, is about experiencing new cultures, trying local food, shopping, and meeting people from different walks of life. I enjoy both solo trips and getaways with friends and family each comes with its own charm. Recently, I visited Kerala and Pondicherry, and before that, I had an amazing time exploring Vietnam
After the recent incident in Pahalgam, I couldn’t help but think back to my time shooting there it truly is heaven on earth. I visit the Himalayas almost every year. There's a divine energy in those mountains that’s hard to put into words The people, the food, and the serenity it all stays with you
Q. You do a lot of fun photo shoots. How do you define fashion?
I’m a total sucker for creativity I love doing fresh, unique shoots and sharing them on Instagram. For me, fashion is a form of self-expression, a way to show who I am beyond the screen Recently, I did a shoot wearing a traditional lehenga set against a modern, urban backdrop and titled it ‘Radha in a Concrete Jungle’ It was my way of blending tradition with contemporary life I don’t like to follow someone else’s narrative when it comes to fashion I prefer creating my own and telling my story through style.
Q. Tell us about your love for Hyderabad…
I absolutely love Hyderabad the food, the people, and the vibe of the city. From the time I first started shooting here to now, I’ve seen so much growth and development. It’s become so much more organised and vibrant. What really stands out to me is how Telugu audiences celebrate cinema There’s truly nothing like it anywhere else. The energy of the city is infectious and makes me want to call it home. And of course, no visit to Hyderabad is complete without a cup of Irani chai... it’s a little ritual I never skip
Q. Hyderabad’s beloved magazine Tulip is celebrating 15 years. What would you like to tell the readers?
Fifteen years is an incredible milestone a true testament to consistently delivering great content and celebrating people and their journeys. You’re doing a fabulous job, and I genuinely wish you another 50 years of success and storytelling. It’s such a joy to be part of this special moment Hopefully, we’ll be doing this interview again 15 years from now, with even more exciting stories to share. Here’s to both of us continuing to grow and do meaningful work

Move over, coffee catch-ups and high-octane parties — Hyderabad’s wellness scene is embracing something deeper, calmer, and a lot more heart-opening. Enter the cacao ceremony: a mindful, musical gathering where sipping a warm cup of ceremonial-grade cacao becomes the gateway to inner stillness, emotional clarity, and soulful connection.
Once rooted in the sacred traditions of Central and South America, this ancient ritual has found a new home in the city’s evolving wellness circles. From cozy garden setups to boho-chic studios, cacao ceremonies are popping up across Hyderabad, offering everything from guided meditation and breathwork to sound healing and ecstatic dance.
More than just a drink
“Cacao is a sacred plant medicine said to open our hearts to our inner wisdom and promote better connections with ourselves and our surroundings," says Akhilan Michael, one of the early organisers to bring these gatherings to Hyderabad at House of Gourmet (HOG) in Jubilee Hills. “I feel really happy and privileged to introduce this plant medicine and such meaningful gatherings to our city," he shares.
Ceremonial-grade cacao — unlike your average hot chocolate — is raw, minimally processed, and revered as the “food of the gods.” Sipped with intention, it’s said to activate the heart chakra, uplift mood, and deepen emotional awareness.
The new generation has a high-stress lifestyle; many people look for a way to reduce and manage their stress. Partying and dancing are usual go-tos for relieving stress, but they’re often accompanied by unhealthy habits like smoking, alcohol, and other kinds of intoxication. "Hence, we wanted to introduce a healthy way to party and have meaningful connections by using this superfood called cacao. Cacao is said to be one of the highest plant-based sources of magnesium in the whole world. It's also packed with antioxidants, iron, calcium, and a lot of other minerals. We believe it has the power to help us open our hearts, connect with our true selves, and build a strong, supportive community," he added.
But the magic doesn’t stop at the cup. A full-sensory journey
A typical evening involves a sequence of healing experiences. Participants are first led into a state of calm with meditation and breathwork. Then comes the cacao — rich, slightly bitter, and served in silence. As the warmth spreads, so does the shift in energy. Sound healers use singing bowls and chimes to amplify the grounding effect, while soft movement or free-flowing dance often follows.
“Sound healing is a therapeutic practice that uses sound vibrations to promote physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. In essence, sound healing restores balance in the body and mind, reducing stress, anxiety, and physical discomfort. The fusion of sound healing and cacao ceremony creates a healing, transformative environment for all," shares Kaavya Bhagchandani, a sound healer who has collaborated on such sessions in the city.
Connection over chaos
At a time when wellness is becoming synonymous with personal luxury, cacao ceremonies offer something refreshingly communal. The focus is not on perfection but presence — showing up exactly as you are and letting the ceremony do the rest.
MNC employee Harshitha Dora, who attended a recent gathering, recalls, “We were guided through practices which helped us open the chakras and dive deep into a divine energy. It was hands down a euphoric state and was extremely pure and blissful. There were wonderful souls around... I learnt and unlearned beautiful things about people, community, culture, and music."
Actress Thamizh Selvi adds, "It felt like meditation throughout. Grooving and flowing my body to a slowpaced BPM for around 2 hours got me into a serene state of mind. Dancing after that cacao drink, breathing exercises, and some stretching made my body feel as light as a feather on a breezy day. I also met beautiful people there with so much good energy. Would love to experience this at least once a month!"
And then, of course, there’s the music. DJ sets and tribal beats often close out the evening, encouraging participants to let go, move freely, and carry that sense of calm into the chaos of everyday life.
A trend rooted in intention
As the buzz grows, more Hyderabadis are gravitating toward these mindful meet-ups— not as a one-off escape, but as a monthly ritual. With each gathering, the city’s relationship with wellness is shifting — from gym reps and diet charts to something more soulful, embodied, and community-driven.
Whether you’re a wellness junkie or a curious first-timer, cacao ceremonies offer a chance to unplug, tune in, and maybe, just maybe — find a little magic in a mug.
Art director Kunal Raj Leo summed it up best: “I felt overwhelmed with gratitude as we were guided into meditation, quieting our minds and focusing on our breath. The cacao tasted like bitter chocolate, but brought me a sense of calm.”

Being a father has been the biggest learning curve of my life. It's a symbiotic relationship. I learn from Nirvaan all the time. And hopefully, he's learning a thing or two from me too! He brings awareness to everything that is happening to me and it spurs me to become the best version of my life each day.
2) What is something you child taught you?
Children have this great gift of being in the moment. It's probably the most basic but profound skill one can develop and he's taught me that in plenty.
Another thing that he brings my attention to, is walking the talk. Saying what you mean and meaning what you say. They tend to believe everything you say and that puts the onus on you to not bullshit with your words and actions. And to be playful with life. They remind you every now and then that life needn't be so serious and arduous. Life is better when you can treat everything like a game.
3
I'm in France at the moment, driving and exploring the French Riviera with my familiy. We trekked 6 hours on foot at the Calanques National Park and it wasn't easy by any stretch of the imagination, but my 7 year old pulled it off and it was an insanely special experience!
4
Being a better father is about being a better version of yourself. Every day. You can never be perfect with it. But you can make progress. As long as you take it upon yourself to become a better man, you'll make a better family. Stay committed to building a culture that is unique to yourself and your family.
5 Wrestle, swim, play wordle, listen to music in the car, travel the world.
AMER BEG
1) What is the best thing about being a father?
Sehr keeps me grounded and what’s amazing is that she’s been a moral compass to me. To do the right thing, to be kind and to overall be a good human.
2) What is something your child taught you?
Patience.I think most parents can relate to that. We may get impatient and reckless at work and while we get on with our daily routine, but patience has to be the one thing that she’s taught me tons of She’s also taught me a lot about skin care routines…hahaha
3) An unforgettable memory you have with you child
It was when Sehr was 2 years old. I was unwell with a fever. She saw me laying down and to her, an ice cream was something that she related to “feeling better”. And at that young age she found herself a stool to climb up on and reach the freezer to get me an ice cream It’s just such a beautiful memory I have Needless to say I felt better right away.
4) Something you wish someone had told you before about being a father
I wish someone told me what a wonderful experience it would be to have a daughter. I probably would have had Sehr a lot earlier. She’s such great company and is my best friend.
5) What is your favorite thing to do with your child?
Every moment spent with Sehr is something I cherish. When I’m home in Hyderabad, I randomly walk in to her room to give her a kiss on her forehead or cheek I love being around her What I love is to take her racing and driving but I think she has a different opinion on that.
APURVA M GOKHALE
1) What is the best thing about being a Father?
To watch your child grow
2) What is something your child taught you?
Many ways of being happy in the small things.
3) An unforgettable memory you have with your child
The birth of my daughter, Kiara would definitely be the unforgettable memory I have .
4) What is something you wish someone had told you before about being a father?
Nothing. Once you become a father, life teaches you everything
5) What is your favorite thing to do with your child?
Taking her to the park. I watch her explore. Watching he explore her surroundings, watching her enjoy the jungle gym, watching her overcome her fears and do activities is my favorite thing to do with her.

LET'S CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY WITH MOTHERS AND EXPERTS WHO SWEAR BY ITS BENEFITS
As the world gears up to celebrate International Yoga Day, it's the perfect moment to turn our attention to a deeply transformative practice that supports women during one of the most profound journeys of their lives pregnancy.
Prenatal yoga is more than just gentle movement it’s a nurturing tool that strengthens the body, soothes the mind, and fosters a deeper connection with the growing life within. Whether it's easing physical discomforts or preparing emotionally for childbirth, yoga offers holistic support through every trimester.
By Shweta Watson
A mother’s journey, rooted in intention and ancient wisdom
For Hyderabad-based mother Aishwarya Madapu Akash, yoga wasn’t just a practice it was a conscious choice from the moment she conceived
“I used to practice yoga regularly even before my pregnancy. So I was very sure that I will do it when I conceive as well,” shared Aishwarya, who gave birth to baby boy Arjun in January. In the early months, she focused on stretches, breathing exercises like pranayama, and simple postures like Malasana “Last trimester I did Lamaze breathing exercises, Kegel exercises for pelvic floor strength, and stability ball workouts. I walked at least 3 km every day, which helped manage my gestational diabetes too.”
But Aishwarya's approach didn’t end on the mat She followed Garb Sanskar, a traditional, holistic philosophy of conscious pregnancy. “It starts with knowing why we want the baby. The intention must be to raise a child who brings positive change,” she said.
Garb Sanskar blends yoga, sattvic nutrition, affirmations, Vedic chants, art, and exposure to natural elements like early sunlight and moonlight. “I soaked in moon rays during walks with my husband. According to Garb Sanskar, this leads to a calm and mentally stable child My mantra was: Happy mother = Happy baby, Healthy mother = Healthy baby.”
Yoga as a bridge to physical & emotional wellbeing
For Dr. Prajakta prenatal yoga is non-negotiable. “It’s one of the most important practices a mother should inculcate,” she said. According to her, the second trimester is often ideal to begin. “Breathing exercises and soft stretches help manage stress, improve flexibility, and prepare the body for labour. Meditation brings emotional calm and better coping mechanisms,” she noted. “It also improves sleep, eases physical discomfort, and strengthens the bond with the baby Practicing with your partner can even help you both transition into parenthood together.”
Why prenatal yoga matters in urban life
Yoga expert Susheel Jain, founder of Susheel Yoga Studio, believes that prenatal yoga plays an even more critical role in modern urban living.
“In cities, where stress and isolation are common, prenatal yoga becomes a sanctuary,” he shared. “It eases back pain, builds pelvic strength, and creates space for self-connection It’s not just about poses it’s about tuning in to the body and baby.”
He also advocates for integrating sound healing with prenatal yoga. “The gentle vibrations of singing bowls or chimes calm the nervous system and the baby can feel them too It fosters deep rest and emotional balance.”
Postnatally, yoga serves as a grounding space for new mothers “It helps rebuild strength and offers emotional support during a time of huge transition,” Susheel added.
Renowned yoga and wellness coach Rina Hindocha, who has over a decade of experience, sums it up beautifully:
“Pregnancy is a beautiful journey, but it comes with its share of changes. A well-guided prenatal yoga practice helps mothers stay connected to their breath, body, and baby. The essence isn’t intensity, but it’s connection, calm, and confidence.”
"I wasn’t very regular with yoga before pregnancy, though I had practiced Hatha Yoga in the past. But once I found out I was expecting, I felt the need to return to it - not just for fitness, but for overall well-being. With my doctor’s go-ahead, I restarted yoga around 18 weeks (the 4th month), and now I practice about 5 times a week. It’s been more than just a physical routine - it’s been a way to mentally ground myself during what can be a whirlwind of emotions and changes, especially with a first pregnancy. Yoga has really helped me stay calm, present, and connected to my body and baby.I’ve been lucky to have an amazing instructor, Asisha, who’s not only guided me through the right asanas but also motivated me to push my limits safely. She’s helped me build confidence and find a sense of peace within this journey. Overall, this practice has helped me feel stronger, more grounded, and more in tune with what my body needsand I’m truly grateful for it," Aishwarya Poona shared.

MINDFUL PRACTICE WITH MEDITATION
WE ARE SO BUSY AND WANDERING WITHOUT FULLY GRASPING THE TIMES WE LIVE IN THAT MILLIONS OF THOUGHTS ENTER OUR HEADS EACH DAY. YOU MAINTAIN A MINDFULNESS PRACTICE TO TAKE STEPS TOWARD HEALING, LEARNING ABOUT YOUR EMOTIONS AND THOUGHTS, AND FOCUSING ON YOUR INNER-SELF.
BY BIDISHA BARIK
Meditation is a patience-based technique that involves accepting silence and bringing serenity into one's life. Mediation was first used to better grasp life's holy and mystical powers. People now use this technique to connect with their inner selves and cultivate tranquilly in their lives. Though meditation can not totally heal all mental, physical, and emotional suffering in life, it helps promote stress management, which is the core cause of medical and emotional problems.
As you focus in to watch your breathing rate and body sensations, meditation helps all your jumbled ideas quiet down. The peace you experience throughout the session does not disappear when you leave it, but you will ultimately realize that you are being aware of your thoughts and feelings.
Meditation may be performed in a variety of ways, and each individual may adapt to different kinds of meditation. For example, some people regard reading a book to be mediation, while others consider writing to be mediation. Body movement techniques such as dance and yoga are also considered mediation.
You won't need any equipment to incorporate this healthy mindful practice into your daily routine, and you won't have to worry about finding the "perfect" method to meditate since there isn't one! The objective is to feel at ease and to know what works best for your lifestyle and daily routine. Meditation can be done in a variety of ways, including:
Find a comfortable position:
You must ensure that you are comfortable when seated, and as a novice, you must seek out a setting that is not distracting, such as your room, balcony, or a nearby park. You can either take a backrest, fold your legs, sit in a chair, etc., and let the calm wash over you.
Just breath:
While your mind wanders, grab hold of it and focus on your breathing. Inhale and exhale slowly and carefully, scanning your body for sensations, becoming aware of discomfort and tensions in your body, and releasing them while you exhale.
Chant your mantras:
You can recite phrases from your sacred books or even daily affirmations while paying attention to your feelings. Recognize yourself, your body, and your thoughts.
Be kind with your inner-child:
Don't condemn yourself or be too harsh with your thoughts if you lose focus or your mind stray. Refocus your attention once you've been recognized.
Close with gratitude:
You slowly open your eyes, or gently lift your gaze and look at the things around you, notice how you feel, mindful of your emotions. And, that’s it.
The vibrations of patience and compassion toward oneself are the same vibrations needed in the world!
“How do we learn to pick between right & wrong? How do we differentiate between the emotional & the logical choice? And how do decide to pick one over the other? These are questions that a lot of people would agree to require an elevated maturity to answer & these have been questions that I found answers to from my meditation. I gave been meditating since I was 10, it has been a family activity that we & my parents take part in even today. Twenty minutes of meditation every day in the morning is essential to me. It grounds me in reality & truth and lets me connect with the divine. It is “MY” time of the day, meant for my soul, my mind & my body only. It is the time when I remind myself of the grandeur of our expansive universe, & how petite my problems, which often stress me out, are. Meditation lets me sink my feet into the truth & look at my problem just as they are. It helps me break the chain of mindless overthinking that has often led to anxiety attacks, which often paralyze me from making a decision. Through continuous meditation, I’ve learnt that my being is not worthless, I have value, my voice matters & I am meant to serve this world to the best of my potential. My meditation has led to my inner truth, led me to develop & create myself & my character, & often appears to be my portal to connect with the divinity within. My meditation has taught me to be grateful & to be a source of love & joy.”
Snehasish Chinara Student
“Meditation is the way of practicing patience, calmness, to remove anxiety. Meditation is also known as Sadhana. Sitting in one place with a closed eye and focusing on the breathing pattern is one kind of meditation but not the only way. This is a way for the people who are on their path of detachment and away from the world resided in the Himalayas, Monks do this type of meditation. But unfortunately, the present generations have taken it to a point where they think, they need to take time for meditation which they are not comfortable with the timings or a place to do so.
But meditation can also be done by practicing to focusing on any individuals particular interest. what we are working with or for an art student his passion is painting n he puts all his focus into the painting, similarly, a person following and working in his passion with great interest and focused on his work is also a part of meditation. A focused person is in a state of self-consciousness where he/she exactly knows all the good and the flaws of a work to be done.
Meditation does help in calming anxiety, helps clear all the doubts within, regular practicing with proper breathing techniques can also attain many health benefits.
While a beginner starts to meditate he/she gets different thoughts, let these thoughts move like moving clouds and just watch them without any reaction to the thoughts you see. It helps in getting clarity, patience, you see a different perspective of the same problem when you practice meditation while you are working or while relaxing.”
Sudarshan Barik
Kalaripayattu Trainer at Nitya Chaithainya Kalari
“The journey towards my inner self began almost six months ago when someone I really admire happened to tell me the importance of empowering ourselves through our own company and mindfulness. Ever since I’ve started meditating along with a lot of calmness and peace there came a wave of understanding and forgiveness which helped me see people, situations, and life in a much simpler way. It’s definitely a slow process, but the journey is beautiful. The realisations and selfintrospection that comes with meditation help me understand many aspects of my life. Meditation helps me combat my stress and cope with any negative thoughts and energy around me. For me, the purpose of starting meditation was to find peace and improve my mental health during the stressful pandemic time and I am so glad that now it has given me so much more, the journey of becoming the better version of yourself through gratitude, mindfulness and patience is truly amazing to experience. It’s definitely a journey from limited identity to unlimited happiness and wisdom.”
Devika Nair Artist
“Sometimes we forget that we will not reach our goals in our daily life if we do not have a calm, healthy and fit body. That is when meditation comes to our rescue it reduces the body’s stress response and promote a feeling of calmness in the mind and stops our wandering thoughts. Like all things in fitness even meditation takes a lot of practice and time even for beginners and for more advanced meditators also not every session is going to be a success. But the benefits of practising even when it goes wrong are overwhelming if you are new to meditation or you are frustrated as you are trying to find that centre of gravity. Remember that the more you try to practise, the better you become at finding your inner peace. When I think of meditating I think it’s an exercise for mental health. When I first began I started out doing what one would think of as a traditional meditation sitting with legs crossed and hands in a mudra and trying to calm my mind by focusing on my breath, it was not easy in my initial days but because of my consistent with the practice I have become better and have started to enjoy doing it daily, in fact, it has opened up a world of possibilities and helped me broaden my approach and my will power have boasted up in my bad days with full of positivity and it has made my health much better.”
