COFFEE TABLE

Year: This coffee table was made in 1954.

Function: The function of this furniture is to place coffee on it.

Info: This coffee table is also known as Ash Mid-Century Modern American Coffee / Cocktail Table.

Material: Ash wood is used. It is durable, lightweight, aesthetically pleasing, and absorbs wood stains well.

MITERED BUTT

•The butt joint is a joint where two pieces meet end to end. In the miter joint, two pieces meet at a corner after each one has been cut at an angle.

•That angle is often 45 degrees, but it doesn't have to be. The miter joint can be easy to make and is aesthetically pleasing.

•The mitered butt joint is assembled at the legs of the coffee table.

DOWEL JOINT

•The Dowel joint is used to connect the tabletop to the leg of the table.

• By using pieces of longer circular dowel than usual to give height to the coffee table.

•The dowel joint should be dipped in glue and driven at a tight fit into holes made for their reception.

ROCKING CHAIR

Year: This coffee table was made in 1958.

Function: The function of this furniture is for sitting. As for the design function is to make someone calm by the movement that feels relaxed.

Info: The curved design of the chair has a safety purpose, preventing a tooenergetic sitter from falling over backwards, the curve adds to the chair's elegance Material: Walnut plywood is used. It has been popular in the creation of furniture for its strength, coloring and its ability to be shaped into elaborate curves.

DOWEL JOINT

•The Dowel joint is used to connect the rocker to the leg of the chair by The dowel joint is assembled in the same way that you would screw a regular joint together only pieces of dowel are glued and inserted into holes instead of screws.

•By using pieces of circular dowel over screws the joint becomes much stronger and can be turned into an appealing feature.

MALOOF JOINT

•The Maloof Joint is a three-sided (twosided on the back legs of the rocker) housed tongue and groove.

•Maloof used a ¼” tongue and groove. In my case, I used a ½” tongue and groove.

•This modification is to increase glue surface and strengthen the leg joints, thereby eliminating the need for screws.

LOW BACK SETTEE

Year: This coffee table was made in 1987.

Function: The function of this furniture is for sitting.

Info: Every part melts into the next, giving it a flowing organic quality.

The lumber support is not incidental it's planned. Just slide down into it and you can comfortably sit.

Material: Solid Claro Walnut is used. As it is an American exotic tree, native to the upper Sacramento River basin.

RABBETED TENON JOINT

•A typical rabbet joint is one in which a second piece is joined to the first by setting its end grain into the rabbet.

•Rabbeted and tenon joint are used at the leg connected to the seat of the low back settee.

•The tenon portion of the joint works as a peg.

DOWEL JOINT

•The dowel joint is assembled at the armrest to the leg of the low back settee.

•Dowel joints are when 2 woods being joint by using dowel therefore dowel come in different patter some could be straight fluting, helical fluting, wood sticks or even just a simple nonpattern dowel.

•By using pieces of circular dowel over screws the joint becomes much stronger and can be turned into an appealing feature.
