The hot and dry Santa Ana winds often affect the city of Fontana as they blow through the nearby Cajon Pass of the San Gabriel mountains from the Mojave Desert. The city also often experiences scorching temperatures during summer. The temperature can increase to as much as 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
