Global competencies can help young people:
develop cultural awareness and respectful interactions in increasingly diverse societies recognize and challenge cultural biases and stereotypes, and facilitate harmonious living in multicultural societies prepare for the world of work, which increasingly demands individuals who are effective communicators, are open to people from different cultural backgrounds, can build trust in diverse teams and can demonstrate respect for others, especially as technology continues to make it easier to connect on a global scale. capitalize on inherently interconnected digital spaces, question biased media representations, and express their voice responsibly online. care about global issues and engage in tackling social, political, economic, and environmental challenges. The National Standards for Quality Online Teaching provide “a framework to improve online teaching and learning ” The instructional philosophies, approaches, and models for online teaching are practically endless The standards are intended to provide guidance while providing maximum flexibility for the users

10-week course | Starts September 30
Entrepreneurship may be approached as both a methodology and a mindset This foundational course introduces students to the elements of entrepreneurship, including design thinking, the value pyramid, and the Business Canvas Model Students work collaboratively to apply these concepts when they work to solve complex and/or ambiguous problems. As a final project, students participate in the immersive simulation, StartUpWars, a platform in which students are prepared to start a business in the real world.

4-Week Course | Starts October 21
This course is designed to equip students with the skills to analyze and interpret data related to climate change Through hands-on experience with various data platforms such as EnROADS, students explore trends in global temperature, potential sea level rise, greenhouse gas emissions, and more for their own city. The course emphasizes data literacy, empowering students to make informed conclusions about the impact of human activities on climate Students will share and discuss their local results with their peers at other RSHM schools.
4-week course | Starts October 21 03
Based on the self-help guide of the same name by BIll Burnett and Dave Evans, this course focuses on the application of design thinking in your school life, your non-school life, and career By experimenting, iterating, and prototyping, students will create “a life they love ” Learning experiences include keeping a one week “Good Time Journal,” exploring the AEIUO technique, learning abour prototyping conversations, and understanding the differences between an optimized life, an alternative life, and a fascinated life.
Story Xperiential 10-week course | Starts September 30 04
Story Xperiential allows students to follow the process Pixar uses to create and exhibit their own stories Students explore the storytelling process, interact with and learn from Hollywood professionals, and share their work in an end-ofsemester exhibition We will support one license per school for student participation.

Global Entrepreneurship Atherton Award
Students who complete Global Entrepreneurship during the fall semester are eligible to apply for the Atherton Award Sponsored by Amber Atherton, this award aims to recognize and encourage the entrepreneurial spirit in young women.
The winner receives
a. $500 USD as seed money for their project. b Connections to members through the Atherton Award network

Once the course registration period is over, coordinating faculty will receive a registration list for their schools.
All courses are hosted on Canvas, except Story Xperiential Course login information will be sent the Friday before the course start date.
At the end of the course, coordinating faculty will receive a list of students who have completed the course.

All videos will include appropriate subtitles in target languages.
Students will be invited to a pre-semester virtual Open House and information session.
We will re-introduce the mid-semester coordinating faculty meeting as a check-in.

Signs and Symbols Project Fall 2024 01
The Signs and Symbols exhibit at Cooper Hewitt will serve as the basis for this collaborative project. What do traffic signs, street signs, and store signs look like in different countries? What information do these signs convey? Coordinated by Marymount New York’s Art Department, we will explore of the language of signs and symbols is universal

Film Festival Spring 2025 04
Several schools in the Network have film and videography courses. Our students and faculty are very creative!
In spring 2025, we will host our first-ever, virtual Film Festival, where students and faculty in the Network may share their films.
YouthMade Festival Spring 2025 05
The YouthMADE Festival (Youth Making, Activism, Art and Design in Education) is an inclusive celebration where participants showcase youth creators and changemakers in their local communities while engaging with like-minded peers around the globe
We will be hosting our first virtual YouthMade Festival in spring 2025.
