What is Human to Human? Steve Abdow Executive Director, Human to Human

aunched at our Diocesan Convention in November of 2019, Human to Human is a vehicle to tell the story of the humanitarian, non-sectarian work taking place in the diocese and to establish new revenue sources to fund that good work. Human to Human provides oversight and the development work for our two successful, emerging ministries: Walking Together and Building Bridges Veterans Initiative. Also included under the Human to Human umbrella are direct service programs run by our parishes. Affiliated partner programs receive support, coaching, exposure to the larger community, access to networks, and other benefits. If you are interested to learn about affiliating your program, please reach out to me. We invite you to support these ministries with your time, treasure, and talent. Of course, financial contributions are gratefully accepted. Human to Human is a collaboration of good works begun by the Episcopal Diocese of Western Massachusetts, but the safe spaces we create are not limited to our church buildings themselves. They are in the communities where we are located, in spaces where the experience of God’s love is palpable. Human to Human is about compassion. We are about the human side of poverty, isolation, and addiction. Human to Human is founded on a simple premise: everyone deserves to be loved and accepted and welcomed as we are. We meet people where we are in our personal journey of health, recovery, and discovery. We don’t preach. We don’t evangelize. We serve. We do laundry, we provide warm meals, we build community, and we offer safe places where anyone can see and be seen. Human to Human sees everyone as a friend and a neighbor. Our only agenda is love.
