Schedule a Visit

Visiting EHS and the Admissions Interview

A required part of the application process, a personal interview is a great opportunity for you to learn more about EHS. To arrange a campus tour and interview, please contact the Admissions Office.

Visits are typically scheduled for Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Families should plan to spend approximately two hours on campus for a student-guided campus tour and an interview with an admissions officer. Virtual interviews are available for students who are not able to travel to campus.

During the interview, students will have the opportunity to share information about their current school, their academic and extracurricular interests, and their desire to attend boarding school. Parents/guardians will have a chance to meet with admissions officers as well. Please let us know of your interests when scheduling your appointment so we may help you get the most out of your visit.

How to Apply

Episcopal welcomes applications from talented students of good character who are entering 9th, 10th, or 11th grades.

Applications are due January 15 and include the formal application; a personal interview with an EHS admissions officer; an academic transcript; recommendations from a current English teacher, mathematics teacher, and school principal or counselor; and standardized test scores as noted below.

The following information outlines the application process in more detail. Please do not hesitate to contact the Admissions Office if you have specific questions or if we may be of any assistance to you as you complete the process.

Standardized Tests

Standardized testing is required for students applying to Episcopal for the fall of 2026. This requirement is one component of a holistic process by which we evaluate prospective members of our incoming class.

Applicants for the 9th and 10th grades should take the Enrollment Management Association’s Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) or the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). To submit scores directly to EHS, please use the code 3022 for the SSAT and 470020 for the ISEE. Applicants for the 10th or 11th grade may choose to submit their PSAT, SAT, or ACT scores.

Applicants for whom English is not their first language are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or the Duolingo English Test in addition to one of the appropriate above-mentioned tests. Episcopal’s school code for the TOEFL is 8144. If the applicant attends an international school or a junior boarding school in the United States, the TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test may be waived.

Please reach out to our office if you have concerns about your ability to complete standardized testing.

Revisit Opportunity

March 29 and 30, 2026

Accepted students have the opportunity to return to campus for our revisit program in the spring. The revisit allows students to attend classes, meet with faculty, and experience EHS again prior to making their enrollment decision. The revisit program also includes sessions for parents/guardians.

Invitations and complete details will be provided on March 10. Families are encouraged to sign up for this event promptly.

A Note for International Applicants

While we welcome applications from students from all over the world, we do not have an English as a Second Language (ESL) program. All students must demonstrate a strong command of the English language verified by our standardized testing requirement (TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo). Episcopal’s school code for the TOEFL is 8144.

While we would prefer to meet all applicants in person, international students or other applicants who are unable to visit campus may request a virtual interview by contacting the Admissions Office.

Affording EHS

Episcopal High School seeks applications from talented and motivated students, regardless of family financial resources. To make the School affordable to more families, Episcopal provides several financial options. The School’s financial aid program helps close the gap between the cost of attending and a family’s ability to pay, as determined by needs methodology used by Clarity Financial Aid Solutions. Awards to qualified students are made in the form of grants and are based upon a demonstration of financial need. In addition to financial aid, two payment schedules are available to accommodate family budgeting and planning needs.

The following provides an overview of expenses to anticipate and funding options available at Episcopal.

Expenses to Anticipate

The Comprehensive Fee for the 2025–26 school year is $74,900. This amount includes tuition, room and board, basic health center expenses, and the cost of most school-sponsored academic, athletic, and recreational activities. The fee for the 2026–27 school year is determined in January of 2026.

Personal Expenses associated with attending Episcopal vary from student to student. The following provides an estimate of the major items:

• Laptop computer

A one-time expense of approximately $1,400–$1,900 depending on model. Students are required to have a laptop computer and may bring a laptop of their choosing.

• Textbooks and academic materials

$700 annually

• Private music instruction

$1,200–$1,600 annually

• Varsity athletic team trips/camps

$500–$2,000 annually

• Monthly allowance About $200+ monthly for laundry, local transportation, clothing, weekend outings, entertainment, etc.

Payment Schedule

An Enrollment Deposit of $7,500 is required when a student enrolls for the year. This amount is credited to the first comprehensive fee installment.

A Contingency Deposit of $600 is required of all new students. This amount is refunded or credited when a student graduates or leaves.

The Comprehensive Fee is payable in either two or six installments. You will be asked to select your preferred payment plan when you return your enrollment contract.

Two-Installment Plan

Due on July 25

$56,175

Due on November 25 $18,725

Six-Installment Plan*

Due on July 25 $22,470

Due by the 25th of each month, August through December $10,486

* Participation in the six-month installment plan incurs an additional one-time fee of $100

The deposit fees and the installments for those students receiving financial assistance are adjusted accordingly.

Financial Assistance

It is becoming increasingly difficult for a large percentage of families to afford independent school tuition. Episcopal urges talented and motivated students to apply for admission, even if there is concern over the ability to pay tuition, and encourages parents or guardians to request application forms and apply for financial assistance.

In 2025–26, approximately 35% of students will receive financial assistance. Approximately $8.3 million in aid is awarded annually, with the average grant equaling about $56,143. The Financial Aid Committee keeps all financial information confidential. Financial aid is available to students of any race, color, gender, creed, sexual orientation, or national or ethnic origin.

Applying for Assistance

Episcopal works with Clarity to assess financial need. Clarity offers a secure and streamlined approach to data and tax collection that is available on a computer or mobile device application.

The Clarity application deadline for new applicants is January 15, 2026. Please visit our website for additional information.

For students whose parents are divorced or separated, both parents are required to submit a Clarity application and supporting tax documentation.

To assist families with budgeting, Episcopal provides information about an independent loan service at the time of enrollment. Families may also wish to participate in the tuition refund plan, which ensures payment of the comprehensive fee should the student need to withdraw from Episcopal for any reason during the year.

Grant Determination and Notification

The Financial Aid Committee is chaired by the Director of Financial Aid and ultimately reports to the Director of Admissions. Other members of the committee include the Chief Financial Officer, an Admissions Officer, and at least one member of the teaching faculty.

Both returning students and admissions candidates are notified of financial aid decisions in March. The financial aid decision is communicated to parents/ guardians along with an invitation for enrollment. Families are required to reply within 30 days.

Annual renewal: Tuition grants are made for one year. Families must complete the Clarity application each year in order to be considered for financial aid. Unless there is a significant change in annual income or available assets, families can normally expect a similar level of assistance to be continued from year to year.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to complete the Clarity Application for Financial Aid?

The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. It is mobile friendly so you can complete it from anywhere. You are also able to save your progress and return to it at any time. The submission fee is $60.

Does the non-custodial parent need to file an application and submit a tax return?

Yes. The non-custodial parent is required to complete the Clarity financial aid application.

Is it possible for a family with over $300,000 in income to qualify for financial assistance?

Yes. This is very likely if the family is also paying tuition for other children attending educational institutions.

How much will I have to contribute?

The primary factors that determine a family’s contribution are household income and expenses, assets and indebtedness, and the number of children attending schools and colleges that charge tuition.

Although individual family financial circumstances differ, the following table illustrates the average family contribution by income level of students receiving financial aid during the 2025–26 school year.

Are other scholarships that are not based on financial need available?

Each year, between 5 and 10 merit scholarships are awarded to new students on the basis of academic and extracurricular merit. They range in value from $5,000 to $10,000 and are renewed annually. There is no separate application process, as all admissions applicants are automatically considered, and awards are determined by the Admissions Committee.

Is financial aid available to international students?

In special situations, it is possible for international students to receive financial assistance. However, priority in the funding process is given to United States citizens.

Are financial aid recipients limited in the activities that are available to Episcopal students?

No. School-sponsored cultural and recreational activities are part of the comprehensive fee, and they are made available to everyone along with the tickets, transportation, and supervision that is provided.

Does applying for financial aid affect my chances for admission?

As the collective need of those students deemed admissible by the Admissions Committee exceeds the financial resources available to new students, applying for financial aid may impact the admissions decision.
