WEEK TWO: WHITWORTH, SAN DIEGO CHRISTIAN AND LA SIERRA CRAZY CONFERENCE The Cascade Collegiate Conference had six teams appear in the NAIA Div. 2 Top 25 rating at sometime last season. That was more than any other conference in the nation. After beginning the season as the preseason favorite, The College of Idaho, was ranked No. 19 in the preseason poll. Concordia took their place in the first rating and was joined by Eastern Oregon in the second ranking, as EOU was No. 24. No team has climbed higher than Concordia’s No. 15 rating. Concordia finished No. 22 in the poll. Corban received 11 votes and Northwest received one vote. BASKETBALL HAS WEEKLY SHOW The Eastern Oregon University basketball programs will have their own radio talk show on Monday’s 12-1 p.m. on KUBQ 98.7 FM. Mountaineer fans can tune into 98.7 FM and listen to EOU basketball analysis, game recaps, game previews, and interviews with coaches and players. The whole hour is devoted to Eastern Oregon women’s and men’s basketball. EOU LANDS TRIO ON CCC LIST Korrie Bourn, Kyle Miller, and Brooke Randall were each tabbed preseason All-Conference performers by the CCC head coaches. EOU was one of two schools to land three players to the preseason list. Miller, a senior, averaged 11.7 points and 4.8 rebounds per game last season. Bourn and Randall were the only newcomers on the list after transferring to Eastern from Spokane Falls Community College. Corban University’s Katie Steigleman was voted the CCC’s Preseason Player of the Year. EASTERN TABBED SECOND IN CCC The Eastern Oregon University women’s basketball team was selected second in the Cascade Collegiate Conference preseason coaches’ poll. With first-place votes from six coaches, Corban University is the preseason choice to win the conference title. Eastern Oregon and Warner Pacific split the remaining four first-place votes, with the Mountaineers and Knights picking up two each. EOU and WPC each tallied 82 points to share second in the preseason ranking. EOU OPENS SEASON IN TOP 25 The Eastern Oregon University women’s basketball team begins the 2011-12 season at No. 23 in NAIA Div. 2. The Mountaineers were ranked 23rd in the country in the preseason poll Monday. EOU last appeared in the national preseason poll in the 2007-08 season, when it received 54 votes. Eastern climbed as high as No. 20 on Dec. 13 last season.
