Learning a language + enjoyment = Terrific idea
by ELENA LUSA (C1)ELENA LUSA HAS BEEN A STUDENT AT EOI IRUN HEO FOR 6 YEARS NOW. SHE'S CURRENTLY AT C1 LEVEL. SHE'S AN ART TEACHER. SHE LOVES TRAVELLING
To begin with, I’d like to bring focus to the fact that, although we’re all supposed to be aware of the positive aspects of learning a second language - both personally and professionally- we aren’t always willing to set out to embark on this rewarding jorney. So, what can encourage a person to do it? Endless answers could be written here, such as that being bilingual can bring you several advantages, like helping you in your career or improving your memory and brain functions, but to be honest, everyone should find their own motivation.

As for my own experience, as a teenager I used to learn languages in private academies. It wasn’t a bad experience with the greatest of respects, but nothing comparable to the EOI Irun.
Firstly, I cannot help but point out that this is an official school, with a well-established method and schedule that provides students a great confidence in the they’re learning, as well as an official level recognized at the end of each course in the event, of course, that you pass your exam. As if this weren’t enough, I have to mention that not only are the school facilities such as the library or the car park more than useful, but there’s also a bus-stop very close by in case you need it.
Furthermore, and after six years enjoying this experience, I wouldn't want to overlook the unseen aspects of coming here twice a week. I’ve probably been lucky, but the teachers, kind and always willing to help, have quenched my thirst for knowledge. Not to mention some of my classmates, who have become good friends and who I still have a fantastic relationship with.
I’m sure that at this point you might very well wonder why you haven’t signed up yet. Were I in your shoes, I don’t even know whether I could wait until the next course or I’d make an attempt to enrol right here and now.

EVA PEREZ IS A B2.2 STUDENT. SHE'S SIGNED UP TO A BLENDED COURSE BECAUSE IT SUITS BETTER HER BUSY LIFESTYLE.
Why is Irun EOI a good place to learn languages? by
EVA PEREZ (B2.2)Did you know that learning a language opens new worlds, lets us engage with a wide range of ideas, peoples and cultures and is even believed to make us appear more attractive? Also, research funded by the British Academy has shown that it increases our ability to acquire new knowledge, to reason, to understand other people’s emotions, to boost our creativity and our memory.
"Teachers are the gardeners who are going to plant seeds, nurture them and try to help when the wind blows strong, when the little plant falls and so on."
The learning environment is as important as the subject to learn but what makes a place be a good one and a journey like this worthy of embarking on? I can tell that teachers, the people you travel with, are the important thing that makes EOI a worthy place Teachers are the gardeners who are going to plant seeds, nurture them and try to help when the wind blows strong, when the little plant falls and so on
Without a doubt, learning new languages will put us face to face with some challenges too. Fortunately, nowadays, teachers at Irun's EOI are using active and modern metodologies and we have flexible opportunities to learn like the blended courses with the support of Moodle platform. It s perfect for modern life! Isn t it? Besides this, a native language assistant comes to talk with us every week. Anyway, for me what makes a great difference is the teacher s open mind to listen, improve and change if it s necessary " we have flexible opportunities to learn like the blended courses, with the support of Moodle platform. It s perfect for modern life! Isn t it?."
Overall, I'd suggest you take the learning process as a challenge to improve and to turn disappointment into opportunity Learning languages broadens the mind and at EOI you will find more than new languages. New people, new cultures and new things about yourself are waiting to be discovered in this amazing journey. So, what s the new language you re going to go for at Irun's EOI?
The winner of the video contest is JESUS OSINAGA, who is doing A1 this year at Irun's EOI HEO. He lives in Hondarribia. In his free time he likes swimming, travelling and meeting people.
