With the second largest elderly population in the country, there is a great need for holistic senior programs in Los Angeles Seniors in our communities increasingly face food insecurity, the threat of homelessness, and are heavily impacted by preventable diseases Through community building and engagement, we assist our seniors in obtaining healthy lifestyles

The Chief Program Officer (CPO) at the YWCA of Greater Los Angeles, reporting directly to the CEO, is a key figure in overseeing the delivery of high-quality programs across Los Angeles Collaborating with the Executive Leadership team, the CPO takes charge of program delivery, develops integrated strategies, and ensures the successful implementation of program deliverables This leadership role is essential to the organization's success, managing a significant budget of $15,000,000, overseeing contract management, and effectively communicating the impact of services to stakeholders

Plan for growth and development of programs by assessing the current composition and making recommendations for improvement

Engage with major community leaders and partners to ensure alignment with the current landscape of services and programs

Strengthen fiscal management and programmatic operations by weeding out unproductive systems and practices

Improve messaging and communications to enhance the organization's visibility and impact within the community

roles & responsibilities

Program Leadership

Plans, develops, and implements program activities aligning with the strategic plan to achieve desired outcomes for the organization.

Conducts assessments for target populations/communities, providing recommendations for ongoing and new programs.

Develops and maintains productive relationships with community groups, social service organizations, and public/private entities interfacing with YWCA GLA programs

Participates in the development and revision of standard operating procedures related to Program Services.

Ensures compliance with all licensing requirements, especially in Child Development, and monitors the Child Development Division.

Implements quality program standards response, including Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and Child Development requirements.

Staff Development & Leadership

Ensures appropriate staffing levels to achieve outcomes and maintain high-quality service delivery.

Provides direction and supervision to Program Managers and Directors, communicating job objectives, and conducting performance planning and appraisals.

Facilitates training and credentialing for staff and interns.

Monitors achievement of performance measures, both quantitatively and qualitatively, recommending corrective actions when necessary

Fosters productive working relationships with all YWCA GLA employees and volunteers, encouraging internal collaboration

Financial Oversight & Grants Management

Collaborates with Fund Development Department and Program Services staff to develop and submit grant proposals to public and private sector funders.

Oversees the development and management of program budgets, ensuring full utilization of financial resources available to each program.

Authorizes and approves budgeted, direct costs, and equipment expenditures for all programs.

Submits quarterly status reports to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors on all programs, including service levels, program performance measures, expenditures/balances, and staffing levels.

Regularly meets and collaborates with the Finance Department to ensure accurate execution and reporting of program expenditures. all grant specifications, ensuring timely reporting and

qualifications

Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Social Work or a related field Emphasis on administration and community organizing is preferred

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) highly desired

Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing multiple programs in a medium to large nonprofit organization, public agency, or related industry

Demonstrated minimum five (5) years of experience working with diverse community groups, partnerships, and staff

Possesses management and program development skills, including demonstrated experience in program evaluation

In-depth knowledge of budgets and allocations is required

Must have experience with government grant processes

compensation & benefits

The salary range is $153,000 - $170,000 The YWCA of Greater Los Angeles offers benefits that include paid holiday, sick time, and vacation, EAP, long-term health care, free parking, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability and a retirement plan

Los Angeles County is a vast and varied geographic entity It includes a group of inland valleys, a coastal plain separated by low mountains that are interspersed with steep passes, an arc of still higher mountains, and a long seacoast Nearly half of the county is taken up by mountain chains most of them running east-west that have a dynamic history of earthquakes, firestorms, and mudslides To the north and northeast are the massive and sprawling San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains Stretching in front of them and more or less in parallel lines from west to east are the Santa Monica Mountains, Puente Hills, Repetto Hills, and San Jose Hills These chains delineate the San Fernando, San Gabriel, and San Bernardino valleys Farther south running roughly between Orange and Riverside counties are the Santa Ana Mountains

Los Angeles, the heart of Southern California, became a world-class city very recently At the start of the 20th century, it was considered merely “a large village ” This ascendancy is all the more remarkable considering that the city originally lacked some of the essential building blocks associated with cityhood, such as a natural harbor Yet it overcame natural deficiencies and established itself as an important center of commerce, agriculture, tourism, and industry For more than a century it has been indelibly associated with a benign climate, extensive leisure, and outdoor recreation, as well as the special aura of celebrity associated with Hollywood The lifestyle of Los Angeles residents (who are called Angelenos) relies on the automobile, idealizes the single-family dwelling, and favors informality With notable exceptions, the skyline is primarily horizontal rather than vertical Los Angeles is a place of extraordinary ethnic and racial diversity, owing largely to immigration
