Training is one element of a larger, complex system of longterm care.
These programs provide a wide variety of skill building training including infection control, medication safety, and mandated documentation. They cover Alzheimer’s, dementia care, emergency preparedness for disaster response, Autism Spectrum Disorder training, traumatic brain injury education, diabetic care & nutrition management, heart disease training on identifying heart attack symptoms, recovery management, and risk reduction.
With training, certifications, skill building, and career advancement provided, these programs respond to both worker and employer needs, help reduce turnover, retain employees, and address skill deficiencies. They offer continual updates on industry trends, requirements, policies, procedures, and laws, with dedicated CCA engagement staff providing full support through mentorship, reminders, referrals, class completion, recruitment, and counseling.
The Registered Apprenticeship Program includes nurse assistant training (160 hours of theory and clinical instruction) and prepares participants for the state certification exam. As a joint worker-focused initiative with labor and employers, it also offers robust support services and financial incentives to help participants complete all program requirements.
The Chief Program Officer (CPO) at the Center for Caregiver Advancement (CCA) will play a pivotal role in guiding the development and execution of programmatic initiatives that serve California’s paid caregiver workforce. Reporting to the CEO, the CPO will oversee strategic program direction, cultivate partnerships, and manage a talented team to enhance programmatic impact and operational excellence. This role is critical to advancing CCA’s mission through innovative and inclusive strategies that align with organizational goals.

Conduct a listening tour with executive staff, program leaders, Board of Directors, and other stakeholders
Develop a program plan and strategy for the organization
Foster relationships with labor and management and get to know worker needs.
Assess training programs impact and changes required for greater success.
Ensure that all programmatic and funder requirements are met or exceeded, particularly in relation to IHSS and Skilled Nursing Facility programs.
Establish & manage benchmarks for program performance, including recruitment, retention, and instructional outcomes, advising on strategies to address challenges (workforce shortages, evolving training needs).
Lead data-driven strategies to improve program performance and operational efficiency, ensuring that programs are both impactful and sustainable
Cultivate relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and community partners to enhance CCA’s visibility and influence within the industry.
Spearhead thought leadership around training as a component of building quality jobs for paid caregivers.
Work closely with finance and executive teams to develop, monitor, and optimize budgets for program initiatives, ensuring resource allocation aligns with organizational priorities andmaximizes return on investment (ROI).
Recruit, hire, lead, and mentor team senior managers, supporting professional development through targeted training and skill-building initiatives.
Assess and address professional development needs for all program senior managers and staff and propose strategies to cost effectively build skills and competencies (e.g., establish case conferences for learning and improving, etc.).
Partner with the CEO, CFO/COO, External Affairs and other CCA department/units to ensure cohesive execution of strategies that advance CCA’s mission.
Cultivate relationships with key clients, stakeholders, labor, employers, and community partners to enhance CCA’s visibility and influence within the industry. Represent CCA at events, conferences, and other networking opportunities to strengthen the organization’s profile as a leader in caregiver training.
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or related field preferred; Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in program management, with a focus on healthcare, longterm care, nonprofit, or workforce development.
Proven track record in healthcare and continuous improvement, with significant experience in program management for diverse populations.
Skilled in strategic planning, curriculum development, and adult learning methodologies.
Experience working in culturally inclusive environments, with a demonstrated commitment to DEI principles.
Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Blackboard and Genius, and CRM tools like Salesforce.
High-level understanding of statistical reporting preferred.
Knowledge of financial and project management tools, including Sage Intacct, Monday, and Smartsheets Microsoft Excel for managing projects and tracking key metrics
Collaborative, people-oriented leader with a servant-leadership approach, exemplifying empathy and resilience.
Ability to inspire and develop teams, with an intuitive, hands-on management style that fosters growth and accountability.
Strong cultural fit with CCA’s values of inclusivity and community support, actively participating in DEI initiatives and the organization’s Culture Committee Dual language proficiency is preferred, as it supports CCA’s commitment to serving a multilingual community.
The salary range for the Center for Caregiver Advancement Chief Program Officer role is $150,000 - $180,000. This is a full time hybrid position located in Los Angeles. Benefits include: 100% employer-paid medical, dental & vision for team members and eligible dependents, defined benefit pension plan with vesting at 3 years and a 401K plan. CCA also offers a generous time off & holiday schedule, with accrued vacation and sick leave.
