The Child Abuse Prevention Council of San Joaquin County (CAPC) is a place where families can turn in a time of crisis, a place where parents can learn to be better parents, children can heal from the wounds of abuse and neglect, and where families can improve their quality of life

CAPC protects children and strengthens families through awareness and outcome-driven programs delivered with compassion and designed to improve the protection and safety of our children The organization’s rich, evidence-based services include crisis/respite childcare, early childhood education, multi-faceted family intervention support program, a volunteer-based CASA (Court Appointed Volunteer Advocate) program, and school-based mental health services offered at various campuses throughout San Joaquin School districts

CAPC actively collaborates with various community stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, schools, healthcare providers, and law enforcement to build a network of support to effectively prevent child abuse As a critical partner in San Joaquin County, CAPC advocates for policies and strategies that protect vulnerable children, build stronger communities, and promote lasting change in the lives of children and families

Early Childhood Education: Center-based crisis/respite childcare for families at risk of child abuse or neglect

Family Strengthening Services: Multi-faceted program targeting families with children 0-18 at risk for abuse, domestic violence, or in need of extra support:

Mental Health: Therapeutic services for children, teens and families who have full scope Medi-Cal

Awareness and Education: The Lisa Project, CAPC Awareness Campaigns and trainings

Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA): CASA volunteers ensure that foster children are not forgotten, but rather are afforded every opportunity to have a happy and healthy life

TAY Mentoring & Youth Support: Individual support focused on teaching life skills and future planning, weekly meetings at school, home, our office, or virtually

Suicide Prevention: The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week as the emergency response system for youth (ages 12-24) and families

An Immersive Multi-Sensory Exhibit on Child Abuse Experience: A one-of-a-kind exhibit that provides visitors with the opportunity to see, hear, and feel the harsh realities of child abuse With audio narration from a child's perspective, guests are taken through a series of scenarios that depict abuse Each room is carefully designed to fully immerse visitors into the world that these children face daily

Position Overview

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the strategic leader of CAPC, working closely with leadership staff to develop and implement organizational goals, vision, and strategies that effectively prevent child abuse and promote child welfare in San Joaquin County

The CEO takes direct responsibility for the financial health of the organization, actively managing the $22 million budget by monitoring financial performance, securing funding from diverse sources, and ensuring strict compliance with funding requirements and regulations By actively seeking and securing funding, the CEO strengthens the organization's financial stability and sustainability

As the primary ambassador for CAPC, the CEO actively cultivates and nurtures relationships with community partners, government agencies, political leaders, funders, and other stakeholders They proactively engage in community collaborations, representing CAPC in public events, forums, and advocacy efforts

By actively fostering partnerships and championing CAPC's mission, the CEO increases awareness about the importance of child abuse prevention and secures support for the organization's initiatives These strategic relationships are vital to CAPC's success, particularly as the organization depends on continued contract funding from existing partners

In addition, the CEO takes charge of recruiting, developing, and retaining a motivated staff team They actively seek out and select top talent, providing guidance, growth opportunities, and mentorship to foster their professional development By promoting a positive work culture and aligning staff members with CAPC's mission, values, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), the CEO creates an environment where employees can thrive and contribute effectively to CAPC's goals They actively ensure staff alignment and engagement, which enhances the overall effectiveness of the organization

An experienced nonprofit professional, this person should have demonstrated experience as a leader within large organizations and has listening skills, empathy, and the ability to inspire and motivate staff, board members, volunteers, and other stakeholders They should have a strategic mindset and the ability to develop and execute a long-term vision for the organization, setting clear goals and objectives with an approach that creates buy-in from Internal and external community members alike

A skilled communicator, this person has worked as a relator and bridge-builder In previous positions, they are especially gifted at building community relationships and fostering partnerships to support any organization they've been affiliated with , As a spokesperson, they should be able to articulate the organization's mission, goals, and impact to various audiences, including donors, funders, partners, and the general public
