Our focus has always been wines of character and distinction, which for us means delicious wines possessing classic balance and structure, usually made by families tending their vineyards for generations, and who are focused on local indigenous varieties. They typically use traditional winemaking techniques although they aren't afraid to try modern processes if that will help make a more delicious wine.

FARMING/WINEMAKING PRACTICES Our producers live on the family farms and vineyards they cultivate, and many of them have young children and pets living with them and playing in the vineyards, so they care about what is happening on their properties. They all work to minimize any inputs and let mother nature do her job. They are farmers first and are out in the vineyards practically every day working with respect for the earth and their local environment. While many have chosen to go down the certification path, some have not but still use organic and sustainable practices such as minimizing the use of water in the winery, using minimal amounts of only naturally derived inputs. Quite a few use natural yeast ferments whenever possible. Sulfites are unavoidable in the production of wine, but care is taken to minimize the use of these as well.

Ca del Sarto wines are all hand-crafted, small-batch wines carefully chosen from four of the best regions in Italy: Friuli, Toscana, Piemonte and Sicilia. These wines are a product of a unique collaboration between local rock star vintners and Enotec Imports since 1998. We saw an opportunity for a multi-regional wine that could overdeliver in their quality and profit-making ability. They are perfect wines for restaurant BTG programs and retails shops. The wines are made with grapes indigenous to their zone that have been grown sustainably(and in some cases organically) and reflect the sensibilities of their producers and their regions. They come into the US at an accessible price point because we are the négociant and there is no middleman. What is it that makes up the character of a wine? To understand the answer to this, first, it is necessary to ask: what is it that makes up the character of a land? With regard to winegrowing, we call that terroir, that is, a complex interweaving of geographic, geological, climatic, and even cultural and social factors. Every little variation counts. Climate, location, soils, and people form an unmistakable totality. And in Alto Adige, the terroir forms the basis for the potential of the great wines that are grown here: unique wines at the point of intersection of Alpine and Mediterranean vegetation and culture. This is the land where Italy meets Austria. Cantina di Caldaro is a famous and historic producer of classiclystyled yet accessibly-priced wines made from grapes grown in the vineyards surrounding Lake Caldaro, which is just outside of Bolzano. When we think of history and tradition we cannot do other than imagining distant and forgotten times. The past is a warm and colorful place compared to the mechanical coldness of the present…although not all the time. In certain things the tradition survives, carried on by the same loving hands of the past. Hands that caress the grapes as they have caressed the hair of their grandchildren, who, then, return them to the grapes. This is what lies behind the historical name of wine production: the Azienda Agricola Fratelli Degani, whose name suggests how their activity is lived. A family management, in the truest sense of the word, where all the activities, from the first manual harvesting of the grapes, their drying for the glory of Amarone and Recioto, the vinification and, finally, bottling, are followed by family members and implemented according to traditional methods. This because Degani family knows the importance of a wine tradition that dates back to early 1900, born to quench the thirst after a long day of work and only after it has been proposed to us, acquired relatives, that we become part of this intimate production from the 1970s. A combined effort to bring a part of their story to our table. And their work was rewarded: in 1996 the wines made their way in prestigious guides such as “Il Gambero Rosso” and not just that: Veronelli, AIS, Luca Maroni and then across the Alps with the Swiss “Merum” and the German “Der Feinschmecher” as well as in newspapers such as La Repubblica and Il Corriere della Sera. The origins of Gianni Gagliardo date back to 1847, when the Colla family first began working vineyards in the Langhe zone of Piedmont. It was Paolo Colla, the fourth generation of the family who, in the 1960s, began bottling his own wine in the township of La Morra. In 1973 his daughter, Marivanna, married Gianni Gagliardo, a young man from Monticello d’Alba in the Roero zone on the west bank of the Tanaro river. Gianni was a passionate young man with a notable entrepreneurial talent. It was in 1973 that the winery, as it exists today, was established. Today, the sixth generation of the family; Gianni’s sons, Stefano, Alberto, and Paolo, are the guardians of the estate. Stefano, the first-born, a careful and competent oenologist, has taken charge of the style of the wines, which are characterized by a tireless search for elegance, balance, and harmony. At his side, his brother Alberto, who has taken on the responsibility for the vineyards, continues to seek optimal balance in the vines and a perfect ripening of the grapes. Paolo, the youngest, after a doctoral thesis in Agricultural Sciences, dedicates his energies to the commercial growth and development of Gianni Gagliardo. TENUTA GARETTO originated in the early 1900s, at a very important moment for Piedmont wine. In fact, the region was slowly rising from phylloxera, which had eradicated much of the vineyards. For some years now, Barbera had shown its particular resistance to this disease. It was also vigorous, with constant production, and gave strong and colorful wines. For these reasons, it was the favorite variety for the reconstruction of the vineyards, especially in the Asti area, where since time immemorial had shown a great affinity with these lands. The Agliano village was in fact part of an area called the "golden triangle", a territory in which Barbera expressed levels of excellence. The Garetto family began to bottle the estate's wines already in the early 1950s, dedicated to a qualified market, when instead most of the wines of the time were still sold in bulk for family consumption or for local Osterie. TENUTA GARETTO winery is the newest addition to the Gagliardo family, acquired in July of 2017. The winery is located in Agliano Terme, a very well-known and recognized spot for Barbera. The winery is in the heart of the new Nizza DOCG appellation of Monferrato, a sweet, sunny and energetic land. The municipality of Agliano Terme in particular has often been described as “the village of Barbera”, characterized by sandy marls that give strong and attractive wines with unusual longevity. The estate can count on old vines planted between 1935 and 1950, as well as more recent vineyards. Since the acquisition, the old clones have been preserved by an accurate massal selection activity. A strict single parcel classification was started. GRIMALDI For four generations, the Grimaldi family have been tending the best vineyards in the Langhe and Roero, bottling the most prestigious appellations of the area: Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo d’Alba, Dolcetto di Diano d’Alba and Dolcetto d’Alba, Barbera d’Alba, Roero Arneis, Gavi, Moscato d’Asti and Langhe Chardonnay. Over more than a century of working in the vineyards, in close contact with the soil and the vines, the Grimaldis have learned to recognise the most suitable areas for each type of vine, knowledge that they have used by planting the best varieties for the soil, altitude, micro-climate and orientation. Today Grimaldi produces a wide range of typical wines, a direct expression of the extraordinary variety of grapes and the unique terroir, recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. The history of the Grimaldis goes back to its country roots in the Langhe, in Valle Talloria, at the beginning of the 19th century, when fields of wheat grew between the rows of vines and every farmhouse had, next to the winery, a barn in which were bred the prestigious Fassona Piemontese cattle. Grandfather Giuseppe cultivated excellent dolcetto grapes, the main variety of the Diano d’Alba area. Cantina Kaltern has a long history. It took more than a century for our winery to become what it is and what it stands for today: professionalism, passion, a shared community, experience and the highest quality standards. Today, Cantina Kaltern is one of the principal wineries of Alto Adige, and Kaltern itself is proud of its reputation as the most popular and best-known wine village in the region. But Kaltern is not only a special corner of the world for wine lovers and connoisseurs from near and far; village life revolves around wine. Wine sets the stage here; it is a source of employment and also of pride for the villagers and wine growers. The history of Cantina Kaltern goes back to the beginning of the 20th century, a century that witnessed long, debilitating years of war and the separation of Alto Adige from Austria – but also the eventful history of Kaltern’s five wineries, including glorious days as official suppliers to the court in Vienna, economic crises and boom years, and also mergers and a consistent orientation on quality in wine-growing. The result today is a winery cooperative with 650 members and 450 hectares of vineyards.

MARCHESINI MARCELLO Our dear Grandfather “nonno Plinio,” was the one who started this truly amazing experience for our family. After the war, he saved all he could to buy a tractor so that he could continue his family’s tradition of working on the land of Count Cavazzocca of Lazise. Just as his family had done for 200 years before him, he put all his time and energy into doing his best. He worked so hard that in little time he managed to purchase not only the Count’s house but also his first vineyard, the one our family still owns and known as “i santi”, where we still cultivate the grapes today for the production of our Bardolino. Grandson Marcello however, continued the family business with extreme importance on quality and so changed the vision of the business. This is how the new wines were introduced, they were all exclusively bottled wines such as Bardolino Chiaretto DOC and San Fermo, a red wine produced in a limited amount with the Corvina and Merlot grapes. The Marchesini family evolved again in the new millennium with another change in generation and also in the way of running the business. Marcello passed the conduction of the family business onto his daughters Erika and Giorgia giving a feminine touch to the company. Giorgia is an enologist, following through the process of vinification together with her father Marcello, working in the wine cellar and in the vines. Erika takes care of the administrative and commercial part and also the wine tasting and sales point. Both sisters agree on following in their father's footsteps, respecting his way of thinking by producing excellent quality wines but are at the same time giving great importance to producing sustainable wines. The Marchesini Family have taken the very important decision in completely eliminating chemical weed killers, pesticides and to reduce to the minimum possible the use of phytomedicine, as to the indications given by “Lotta Integrata Regione Veneto” in order to protect and preserve the territory and the biodiversity present in the land. 88pts Vinous Chiaretto Classico V19

The Merotto family’s agricultural beginnings can be traced back to Agostino Merotto, an ancestor who was already well-known in the area at the beginning of the 1900s for the quality of his Prosecco. After the period of the two great wars, a time during which there were few notable landmarks in wine production, came a renaissance in agriculture and traditional farming focused on dedicating land to the kind of cultivation it was best suited to. Graziano Merotto started his company in 1972 and showed an immediate gift for wine production. He also had a clear vision regarding the world of sparkling wines. With great sacrifice, hard work, and much trial and error, he was able to achieve renowned levels of excellence, leaving a legacy that was destined to become part of the history of the local area. The Merotto Winery is located in the heart of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG production zone, known for its famous quality proseccos. In these Alpine foothills, the vineyards of Giovanni Merotto are located in a ring of hills surrounding Col San Martino, an ancient Lombard city north of Treviso. Merotto owns 12 hectares of vineyards in this area, and rents another six, for a total annual production of about 2.3 tons of grapes. It all started from my parents' stone house, built from brick to brick, a bit like our company with its plots. In the same way, we have also expanded the structure that houses Monviert, cutting out the space it deserves. Today the venue is a joy for the eyes, capable of transmitting in a crystalline way all the emotions that we want to express daily through our wines, because over time the spirit has remained unchanged, only the passion has grown, and continues to grow. Born as Ronchi San Giuseppe, this passion had to be handed down and exported. So the whole family was infected, from me, to my children, up to my grandchildren, far exceeding my childhood dreams. The name Monviert originates from the church, which has watched over our 87 hectares for centuries. In Friulian, the language that speaks our land, means "open mountain": because the "mountain" that hosts it gives an "open" view. From its top it manages to show all the love that my family has sown, and continues to sow, in this land for three generations.

NAONIS The Best Cellar in the heart of Friuli

NAONIS, pronounced “Now-Niece,” is the ancient Roman name for our home city, Pordenone, and speaks of our land’s historic winemaking expertise for the production of excellent white and sparkling wines.Established in 1931 as Cantina Sociale Cooperativa Destra Tagliamento, the Viticoltori Friulani La Delizia is family-owned, and also the largest wine-making facility of the Friuli Region. The company has more than 500 family growers with 2000 hectares of vineyards that extend throughout the Friuli plain, within the renowned "Friuli Grave" and "Prosecco" D.O.C. These are areas historically dedicated to viticulture and to the production of wines with a strong identity and character, exported successfully in the major foreign countries. La Delizia is a leading researcher of viticultural and oenological practices.La Delizia uses an advanced guyot vine training system with a low yield per hectare, careful selection of the best fruit and then a natural fermentation in thermo-conditioned steel tanks. The last step is a long and quiet ageing on the yeasts for 6 months: these are the essential steps so that the wines can ripen and express the identity and the elegance of their origin area.

PALLADINO Hailing from Guarene, Piero Palladino spent his youth in Alba, where he studied winemaking at the Istituto Enologico. He was employed as winemaker for a wine vendor in Biella, having moved there after the war. However, Piero did not cut ties with Alba and the Langhe. In the years following, his characterizing resourcefulness led him to set up businesses in various sectors, before definitively arriving in the textile industry. However, wine remained his passion, one that he emphatically asserted at the first opportunity. In 1974, Piero bought the current Azienda Vinicola Palladino and entrusted its management to his cousin Maurilio, his subsequent business partner. Maurilio Palladino, together with his wife Domenica, managed the company for years, drawing inspiration from the principle of fidelity to tradition and the characteristics of the territory. Today his experience is combined with the enthusiasm of the new generation, who help to manage the cellar and to continuously research new markets. They include Maurilio's granddaughter Veronica and her husband Alessandro and Margherita, Piero's granddaughter and daughter to Mauro Palladino, Maurilio's partner and cousin. Not to forget Luca and Matteo who provide invaluable help in the vineyard and in the wine cellar. Our Philosophy-A wine cellar is its territory: a simple philosophy, focused on the link with tradition, on respect for the terroir and the passion with which we try to communicate these values ​throughout the world. TRADITION lets us relive history through the memory of the past and respect for the vines, tended according to ancient customs of manual processes, thus bringing a healthy product into the wine cellar, which is followed step by step, until its evolution into wine. The TERRITORY finds expression in the purity of production of the historical Piedmontese denominations and in the ability each wine possesses, capable of summarising, with its own aroma and flavour, the specifics of the grapes' terroir of origin. PASSION links all of the elements and is the underlying premise and the indispensable ingredient of each phase, from the careful tending of the vineyard to the processes of winemaking in the cellar and finally the promotional efforts in Italy and abroad.

The Tessari family have Soave in their blood. For three generations they have been extracting delectable wine from the well-cared-for vines of their Monteforte d’Alpone vineyards. With only a little over a hectare of Garganega grapes in the prestigious area of Soave Classico, Antonio Tessari hand-dug his cellar back in 1933, and started the legacy that continues today with his grandchildren: Germano, Antonio, and Cornelia. The young, skillful brothers share the same strong spirit for making Garganega that their father Aldo did. From the vineyard to bottle all the way to your table, these three siblings oversee it all, with unwavering respect for tradition, quality, and passion for the art of winemaking. The highly suited 12 hectares of Garganega vineyards – "Magnavacche","Costalta" and "Castellaro” – have not been altered since their parents held rank. Today the production is far different, with a new, well-equipped winery completed in 2007. The Tessari trio are able to continue down the path that was established for them when Antonio painstakingly shoveled the first rock eight decades ago. Situated in the famous Soave wine zone, the Tessari winery possesses 12 hectares of vineyards in the areas: Magnavacche, Costalta and Castellaro, in the comune of Monteforte d'Alpone. The vines are on average 35 years old, and are found on the hills of Monteforte d'Alponein, the heart of the classic Soave wine zone. Characterized by a volcanic and clayey terrain, the soil is predominantly basalt-based and rich in minerals, which gives the final product its distinctive traits. The vines, exclusively of the native Garganega grape, lie around 250 meters above sea level, facing east/south-east, allowing them a fresh microclimate in a privileged location with respect to other vineyards.

Vantorosso was born from the meeting between a successful driver, Vanni Pasquali and Franco Allegrini, a lifelong friend and great wine producer from Valpolicella. Franco is the Maestro, owner of Allegrini Estates. Vanni is a driver and car tester. A champion of the race. His story is a path of success, made of perseverance and ambition. The same ones that he transferred to this new wine project: Vantorosso. In the vineyard the relationship between man and vineyard is very different from the one a driver has with his own car. I understood that we must respect the times of nature, that the rudder is not only in the hands of man. It takes patience, sensitivity and observation skills. A good dose of humility, application and constancy. I am aware that I am not an expert winemaker, but I have in mind the wine I want to make. " “I thought of the name Vantorosso, because in my life as a driver I have always dreamed of racing for a famous Italian car manufacturer. Certainly not because I pride myself on merit or particular skills. This is not the idea. The concept of pride is linked to the dream and the challenge, to the ambition to do well, to the will that this project continues beyond those who started it. The only merit I would like to possess is that of having given new breath to my father's land. " As Enzo Ferrari used to say ... "If you can dream it, you can do it." The structure of the winery dates back to XVI century. Our vineyards (7 hectares) are located only in the hillside area of Valpolicella Classico; Fumane, Marano(Badin) old vines, San Pietro and Negrar (bio),new vines, from 350 to 450 s.l.m. They’re between 5 and 25 years old. You will find the typical territorial vines, such as Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella. SORI-The Sori are a cultural heritage even before wine. These are particularly steep vineyards, well-exposed to the sun, and so difficult to practice that terraces are often necessary. They have a slope between 45 and 50% which does not allow access to any machinery. 88pts BTI Villa M Sweet Peach

Cantina Fratelli Pardi story begins in 1919 when the three brothers, Alfredo, Francesco and Alberto, establish it. The winery was, back then, located on the ground floor of the San Marco Hospital, as part of San Francesco monastery in Montefalco. The grapes, used in the wines’ production, partly belonged to the family and some were bought from other local landowners. White and red wines were produced and marketed, but it was the Sagrantino, exclusively Passito, to be the foremost. The wines were sold all over Umbria, and eventually out of the region, to eminent costumers such as the Vatican.

In 2002 the founders’ great grand-sons, Francesco, Gianluca Rio, and Alberto Mario, driven by the will of the Pardi family to keep on the tradition, and with the help of their parents Agostino and Alberto, restore the building in Montefalco and revive their great-grandfathers’ winery. Today the brothers Alberto Mario and Gianluca Rio, with their enthusiasm and hard work, are the new era of the Pardi wine’s legacy.

Cantina Tollo was founded in 1960, during an exciting period for winemaking, which brought the Abruzzo region to life, and today it is one of the most important and established businesses in the Italian wine industry. At the time, people were abandoning the Abruzzo countryside and many Italians were leaving the country in search of a better future. However, in many areas they decided to stay among the vineyards and thus Cantina Tollo was born. During these years, the Cantina played an active role in the sector, helping to bring about a radical change in the local wine-growing landscape andmaking Tollo a real “City of Wine”.Cantina Tollo production exclusively focuses on typical and indigenous grape varieties of region, cultivated in the traditional method on pergolas, with a pursuit of experimentation both in the field and in the cellar. The Dei family, owners of the estate, has been winegrower in the area of Montepulciano for several decades, although from a commercial point of view the winemaking activity is recent. The first experimental bottles of Vino Nobile 1985 were released 1988. The success of this vintage was the starting-point for the estate’s expansion and in 1989 a vinification cellar including up-to-date winemaking equipment was completed. The aging premises, were established near the vinification centre, within the Martiena property. Today the estate comprises 60 hectares under vine, divided into five separate holdings in excellent sites: Martiena, Bossona, La Piaggia, Cervognano and La Ciarliana, from which Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Rosso di Montepulciano are produced. Since ‘99, from the Sangiovese grapes harvested in the Bossona vineyard, the estate is producing its Vino Nobile Riserva. Keeping very low yields per hectare has always been the main objective of the estate, whose primary goal is the achievement of a Vino Nobile at its almost quality, enhancing the characteristics of its indigenous grape variety.In these days the winery is carrying out the building of a new under-ground cellar that morphologically calls to mind the shape of a shell, to celebrate the fossil composition of Bossona. The new wine cellar exploits sources of renewable energy, primarily geothermal energy, and it is completely created with the travertine of the family.

The Sant'Agnese Estate has now been run by three generations of the Fanetti family, beginning with Adamo, followed by Giuseppe, and now Elisabetta, who picked up her father's secrets over the years, accompanying him through the vineyards as a young girl. The first renaissance of the Vino Nobile took place in the 1920s, thanks to Adamo Fanetti, Adele Andreucci's husband. Adele was the daughter of a Montepulciano landowner, the proprietor of the Sant'Agnese farm. Adamo set out to improve the wine his father-in-law was already producing, and made the decision to bottle this higher quality wine on the estate. Having put his plan into practice, he brought his wine to the first traditional wine fairs that took place in Siena in the 1930s, and from that moment the wine's fame was assured. Awards came thick and fast, including international recognition, such as the gold medals won at the Grands Prix of Paris, Ljubljana and Milan. The fourth generation. Mine is a history tied to the land, having left Castelnuovo Abbot Bramante where my grandfather was a farmer before he opened a workshop in San Angelo, where he repaired tractors in the thirties, and arrived at Poggiolo, where today I produce a few bottles. The real protagonist of this story is not me, is my father, Roberto, son of Bramante, owner S. Angelo Scalo an agricultural equipment shop known by all, in 1971 he decided to buy a farm, Poggiolo, then uninhabited, without a cellar, without even a row of vines, in practice, no nothing. At the time in Montalcino Brunello producers were just 28, was not the economic and commercial phenomenon that we have come to appreciate over the years. For me, the spark was kindled in 1984, when I attended for the first time at Vinitaly, and already the following year, 1985, I started to put my giving birth to the first cru of Brunello di Montalcino, the Redwing, who followed the logic of the French Cru: a selection on the market at twice the price of the base, when nobody did. Fattoria di Rodáno is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico in the famed region of Castellina in Chianti. The original farm dates to the Middle Ages and sits on the historic “Via Franchigena” used by pilgrims to travel from northern Europe to Rome. It became a wine-producing property in the sixteenth century. The winery has been in the Pozzesi family for three generations, since 1958. TERRA ROSSA is the most modern and innovative line of the winery Il Poggiolo, where art meets wine and making wine is an art. Tenute Bosco is located in the commune of Castiglione di Sicilia on the northern side of Mount Etna. The estate's vineyards extend between the two domains of Piano dei Daini in Solicchiata and Santo Spirito in Passopisciaro. The first written evidence of the estate of Solicchiata is found in an old manuscript dating back to 1669. Abate Coniglio from Castiglione describes the old domain, Piano dei Daini, as an area cultivated with vineyards and palmenti. The Azienda Agricola Bosco De ‘Medici was born in 1996, when the two families Palomba and Monaco decided to share the passion of grandfather Raffaele for land and vineyards of Vesuvius. Ancient crops, composed largely of vines ungrafted old pre-phylloxera, supplemented later by vineyards planted in the eighties. A centuriesold tradition evidenced by the discovery in the vineyard of a “term” boundary stone on which is carved the letter “M” with a crown (then used as the company logo). Studies that followed confirmed that those lands were owned by a branch of the noble Florentine dynasty of the Medici, who moved into the Kingdom of Naples in the midsixteenth century and in the centuries following did its best to modernize and improve the methods of cultivation and quality of Vesuvian wines. An important heritage that the company has collected and carried out with dedication over the years, taking care of the land and producing quality grapes that, from the harvest in 2014, decided to make wine on their own. The result is a line of wines that, in addition to the most famous Vesuvius wine, Lacryma Christi, aims to enhance dell’IGT Pompeiano presenting as a top wine red “Pompeii”, which pays tribute to the famous Roman city destroyed by the eruption of 79AD. POMPEII LINE a variety of wines through which we create our philosophy of production: experimental, dynamic, sustainable, healthy.Pompeii White, is a wine coming from a rare grape, Caprettone, which grows up only on the Vesuvius, in the south part of the volcano. The volcanic soil is perfect for this kind of grapes. The wine comes from the vinification for 70% inside of the steel tanks at controlled temperatures, and for 30% inside of the terracotta amphorae, where the grapes is let to macerate for 20 days. Pompeii red is grown in The Rounded Vineyard, It comes from only Piedirosso grapes, locally called “Per’ e Palummo” (from the red colour of the stem). It is a very elegant wine. Violet, Black Rose, Iris and Gillyflower, these are the aromas of this wine, a charming flower bouquet.

ELENA FUCCI The winery was founded in 2000 in order to save the vineyards that surround our family home from being sold, those which were purchased by my grandfather Generoso in the 60’s. For decades the 6 hectares of vines located 600 meters above the sea at the foot of Mount Vulture (a dormant but not yet extinct Volcano) were cultivated for the sole purpose of selling the grapes on the local market and beyond, to northern Italy. Selling the vineyards seemed the most logical solution as my dreams took me far from my native home, elsewhere in the world to seek my fortune. But my heart sank at the thought of the sacrifices my family made being sold off, so I utterly changed my plans. Concurrent with my studies at the University of Pisa in Oenology and Viticulture a new project was launched, one that would invest in our territory, staking everything on a single wine, TITOLO, class “cru” to best represent the characteristics of Aglianico and the unique terroir and microclimate of our area. SCEG was born from the desire to help some friends of my grandfather Generoso. My grandfather is 94 yrs and has worked his whole life in our vineyards. His friends have grown up together with him and have vineyards nearby. At their age its very difficult for them carry on the vineyards, and their sons are away from our little town. These men have refused to sell the vineyards hoping that someday their children would change their minds and come home and then take over, but there was a high probability these vineyards would soon be gone. The Massimo Lentsch estate, founded at the end of 2018, is situated on the slopes of Mount Etna, in the district (contrada) of Calderara Sottana in the commune of Randazzo, while some of the vineyards are in the commune of Castiglione di Sicilia, in Contrada Feudo di Mezzo. Already the owner of the Tenuta di Castellaro estate on the island of Lipari, Lentsch wanted to begin another adventure on volcanic soil, this time taking on the challenge of Etna, an active volcano. "The decision to create vineyards and a winery on Etna has arrived at a particular moment in my life, in which much has altered at a personal level: a sort of milestone that marks an important change. Producing highquality wines in a very fashionable but also extremely competitive region represents a major challenge for me, and one that I intend to win" explains Massimo Lentsch. The contrasting interplay of lava and of water, represented by Etna and the Alcantara river, which flows close to the estate, creates a natural environment that is unique anywhere in the world. Etna is the highest and most active volcano in Europe: it rises up majestically, like an island within the island. The Sicilians call it “Idda”, and refer to it as “the great mother”. The surreal landscape at the top, barren and inhospitable at the summit, is in complete contrast to that towards the valley, full of verdant woodland and vineyards.

CANTINA MOROS is the smallest of the Quarta house, located in Guagnano, the epicenter of the Salice Salentino DOP, in the heart of Negroamaro. An old social winery from the 1950s, reborn in 2012 to enhance the local cru in a modern "One Garage Wine", where only one wine, the namesake Moros, is produced, in just six thousand bottles a year: the only reality of this type in Puglia, a rarity on the national scene. A stunning example of post-industrial architecture, it is a small treasure chest, where art, history and modernity come together in a unique atmosphere. The name is evocative of the history of these territories, theater of encounters with the Saracen culture and also recalls the dark color of the Negroamaro and the Malvasia Nera, which are exalted here as symbols of the local wine tradition. It also celebrates the god Moros, brother of Hemera, guardian of the ranks of fate. Thanks to the conservative restoration of the old factory, the underground tanks, in the past used for the storage of wine, have returned to new life and today preserve the barrels for the refinement of Salice Salentino Dop Riserva, "Moros". CANTINA SANPAOLO CANTINA SANPAOLO rises in a hilly area, straddling the provinces of Avellino and Benevento, perfectly integrating with the landscape. Here the white berried grapes are grown which give rise to Greco di Tufo DOCG, Fiano di Avellino DOCG and Beneventano Falanghina IGP, together with the fine Irpinia Aglianico DOP from which the homonymous wine and the most prestigious Taurasi DOCG are born. The cellar develops on three levels dug on the slope of a hill: the terracing nearing completion, with planting of vineyards, will allow it to be completely integrated with the surrounding environment, respecting the harmony of the landscape that inspired its restructuring. It is technically equipped for the production of whites and reds and for their refinement in the barrel room, made up of barrels of different carats: barrique, tonneau and oak barrels. The labels currently produced are eight. Claudio Quarta’s CANTINA SANPAOLO vineyard is composed of small plots for a total of about 22 hectares: 10 extend around the cellar, divided between the areas of Tufo - where the precious Greco of Lapio is grown in the heart of the DOCG Fiano d'Avellino for the breeding of Fiano - and Paternopoli, for the cultivation of Aglianico, in the DOP Irpinia Aglianico and DOCG Taurasi. The other 12 hectares, cultivated in Falanghina and Aglianico, constitute a single estate located in Pietrelcina, in the Benevento area.

TENUTE EMÉRA is the largest of Claudio Quarta's four cellars, located in the heart of the DOPs of Manduria and Lizzano in Puglia. The farmhouse-cellar houses the ancient millstones of the early 1900s which, once the recovery in progress is complete, will be used to revive the emotion of the traditional pressing of the grapes with your feet. The name refers to the goddess Hemera, Greek divinity that symbolizes the day: a tribute to the culture of Magna Grecia and a reference to the geographical position of the estates, located in the Salento peninsula, the easternmost edge of Italy that first witnessed the rise of the Sun. A large vineyard close to the sea that extends over a property of about 80 hectares, of which almost 50 are planted in 2007. In addition to the indigenous varieties such as Primitivo, Negroamaro and Fiano, international vines such as Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay have been planted, following a rigorous micro-zoning scheme. Here was planted what probably represents the largest biodiversity vineyard in the world, with about 500 varieties of minor vines, mainly of Caucasian and Mediterranean origin.
