The Hershey Lions Club recently recognized members with awards for their many years of dedicated service to the club and community. Honorees received recognition at a club meeting in June. David Crist received the Lion of the Year award. Crist is the Hershey Lions Club’s secretary. In addition to his outstanding service, loyalty, and devotion to Lionism, he can often be
counted upon for adding humor to his secretary reports. Receiving Melvin Jones Fellowships were Chuck Frank and Cliff Passuello, both of whom have long tenures with the Hershey Lions Club. Frank has also managed the club’s eyeglass collection effort, and Passuello has served as zone chair of Lions District 14T. The Melvin Jones Fellowship award is the backbone of the Lions Clubs International

Foundation (LCIF), the procurement of which is a contribution to humanity and to the legacy of the organization’s founder, Melvin Jones. Nambiar Receives Scholarship Anoushka said that her two favorite endeavors have been volunteering locally at the Hershey Medical Center’s Hershey Pediatric Endocrinology Center and helping internationally at the Pediatric Cardiology wing in the MIOT Hospital in Chennai, India. She plans to attend Lehigh University to major in biology on the pre-med track, with the goal of becoming an ophthalmologist. The Hershey Lions Club intends to resume in-person meetings in the near future. Lions Clubs are groups of men, women and families who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs. The Hershey Lions Club recently presented a $1,000 scholarship for continued education to Hershey High School student Anoushka Nambiar, daughter of Rachita and Ram Nambiar. The club announced Anoushka’s selection for the
scholarship during its May meeting on Zoom. Anoushka has an extensive history of volunteering and academic success, and club president Steve Gallerizzo noted that she sets a good example for her peers.
