Declutter & depersonalize: Remove excess furniture, personal photos, and small items to create a clean, spacious feel.
Deep clean everything: Pay special attention to kitchens, bathrooms, baseboards, and windows.
Add light & warmth: Open blinds, turn on all lights, and consider adding cozy touches like throw pillows or a neutral rug.
Your Pre-Photography Checklist

All surfaces cleaned and clutter-free









Lights on and curtains open in every room
Personal items stored away (toothbrushes, cords, pet bowls, toys)
Beds made with clean, neutral bedding
Floors vacuumed and mopped
Exterior swept and lawn trimmed
Trash bins hidden or removed
Countertops cleared (kitchen & bathrooms) - Remove appliances ie. toasters, coffee maker etc.
No vehicles in driveway or front of house
Decor styled simply and neatly (less is more!)

Create a moving file to keep track of everything: estimates, receipts, and an inventory of what you’re moving.
Two Months Before









Compile dental, medical, shot, and prescriptions records
Ask doctors for referrals in your new area.
Arrange to have school and veterinary records transferred.
Contact gyms and organizations to have memberships cancelled or transferred
Decide how you will be moving your valuables (either certified mail or carry with you).
Go through each room and sort what you’d like to keep and what can go. Plan a garage sale if necessary.
Order packing supplies: boxes, tape, bubble wrap, and permanent markers.
Take measurements in your new home.

Choose your mover and confirm your reservation.
Notify subscriptions services of your move

Notify and get refunds from your present utilities: gas, electric, water, cable, and phone. Arrange for services at your new address
Transfer your address with the Canada Postal Service.
Begin using up what you can’t move, like cleaning supplies, food, etc.
Confirm moving company or rental-truck arrangements.
Transfer your bank accounts.
Draw up a floor plan of where your furniture should go.
Purchase moving insurance. Your mover’s liability for lost or damaged goods will not equal their replacement cost.

Two Days Before





Keep moving materials in a separate location from where the packing is happening.
Gather all valuables, jewelry, important papers (birth certificates, deeds, documents) to take with you personally.
Plan on spending the entire day with the movers. Don’t leave until they have gone.
Record all utility meter readings (gas, electric, water, etc )
Make final walk through of the house, including storage areas, attic to make sure everything is empty.
Moving Day

Place carpet, floor, and door frame protectors throughout the home and load items in a predesignated order


Before the movers leave, sign the bill of lading/inventory list and keep a copy
