Durante toda mi vida he tenido la oportunidad de compartir espacios con las mujeres. Desde casa, en la escuela y en mis distintas experiencias laborales he comprobado que el talento, más que una cuestión de género, es una cuestión de mente y corazón. From home, in school, and my different work experiences, I have proven that talent, more than a matter of gender, is a matter of mind and heart.

Por esta y muchas otras razones, considero que debemos ser esa generación de mujeres que se ha tomado de la mano con fuerza y que no está dispuesta a soltarse; esa generación que dé el siguiente paso para que cada mujer siga creciendo personal y profesionalmente en un ambiente sano y libre de violencia. Es momento de ser más enfáticos sobre los beneficios de mejorar las condiciones de trabajo de las mujeres y la apertura de espacios en nuestro sector, ya que esto puede ofrecer ventajas significativas para las mujeres y empresas, lo cual generaría una mayor productividad. Por ello, celebro que la convicción de Mujeres WIM México sea la de impulsar iniciativas que promuevan la equidad de oportunidades y condiciones laborales de las mujeres en la industria minera de México, y que con una visión incluyente esté enfocada en difundir las buenas prácticas y la imagen de la minería como una industria estratégica para el desarrollo económico del país. Expertos de diversas empresas de esta industria analizaron el impacto y rumbo de estas herramientas en el foro “Innovación en tiempos turbulentos: lo que viene para la industria minera”; el cual se llevó a cabo durante la exhibición Automation Fair at Home 2020.

En la perspectiva de Daniel Riquelme, Director de Sistemas de Control en BHP, las estrategias digitales contribuyeron a que las compañías del sector minero se movilizaran para superar los retos surgidos de la pandemia. A su vez, estos cambios han brindado la oportunidad de tener un mejor manejo de la energía y reducir la huella de carbono.

Respecto a este tema John Woods, Director Global en Kalypso, una empresa de Rockwell Automation, señaló que la minería tiene un papel crítico en la protección del medio ambiente. Además, comentó, los cambios en el escenario global han creado una excelente oportunidad para demostrar la fortaleza de las empresas mineras y el manejo responsable que hacen de los recursos naturales. “La pausa que experimentamos en la industria nos obligó a descubrir cómo salir adelante. Eso cambió la manera en que colaboramos, utilizamos la tecnología y avanzamos para mantenernos competitivos”.

Por su parte, Carl Weatherell, Director Ejecutivo y CEO del Centro Canadiense de Innovación Minera (CMIC por sus siglas en inglés), destacó el papel

Experts from various companies in this industry analyzed the impact and direction of these tools in the forum “Innovation in turbulent times: what is next for the mining industry,” held during the Rockwell Automation Fair 2020.

In the perspective of Daniel Riquelme, Director of Control Systems at BHP, the digital strategies contributed to the mobilization of companies in the mining sector to overcome the challenges arising from the pandemic. In turn, these changes have provided the opportunity for better energy management and reduced carbon footprint.

John Woods, global director at Rockwell Automation’s Kalypso, noted that mining plays a critical role in protecting the environment. Besides, he commented that the global scenario changes have created an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the strength of mining companies and the responsible management they make of natural resources. “The pause we experienced in the industry forced us to discover how to move forward. That changed the way we collaborate, use technology, and move forward to stay competitive.”

In addition, Carl Weatherell, Executive Director and CEO of the Canadian Centre for Mining Innovation (CMIC), highlighted the role of collaboration between mining companies and their suppliers to solve problems together. He said that this integrated work allows them to find common goals and work towards them.

One of those goals is the holistic optimization of mining systems, which requires obtaining the necessary data and knowing how to analyze existing information. “The foundations for development and holistic optimization are already in place. However, we must be able to perform business

Finalmente, los especialistas Daniel Riquelme y Carl Weatherell coincidieron en que para incorporar exitosamente las innovaciones tecnológicas es necesario realizar un cambio cultural dentro de las empresas. De igual forma, resulta relevante considerar la experiencia del usuario y hacer que las nuevas herramientas sean fáciles de usar y contribuyan a la toma de decisiones.
