Studio Tour production, The Bilingual Barber of Seville, opera’s most famous barber, Figaro, plays the role of translator as Rossini’s sparkling, witty score takes center stage. Created by stage director Kristine McIntyre, the 45-minute adaptation is performed in Spanish and English and demonstrates the power of love to triumph over adversity of every kind. The Studio Tour was filmed by Felipe Barral, the Opera’s Director of Digital Media, at the Southwest Arts Center in partnership with the City of South Fulton. The virtual Studio Tour has reached over 26,000 students with two months left in the school year. In addition to their work at the Big Tent, The Atlanta Opera Company and Studio Players have also been busy in the virtual classroom! Local high school students have been thrilled to participate in virtual Masterclasses this year with Jasmine Habersham, Mike Mayes, Jamie Barton, Joseph Lattanzi, Reginald Smith, Jr., Daniela Mack, Alek Shrader, Megan Marino, and Talise Trevigne. These experiences have made a huge impact on the students during this challenging year. Dr. Jimmy Cheek from Martha Ellen Stilwell School of the Arts had this to say about the experience: “Thank you for bringing Jasmine Habersham to do a Masterclass with the choral students at Martha Ellen Stilwell School of the Arts. It was an amazing learning experience for the students in our choral program.
