Anita Priscela Velástegui Ramos (Ambato, July 26, 1942) is an Ecuadorian soldier. She was one of the first three women in the history of Ecuador to have achieved the title of 'Coronel de Estado Mayor de Servicio' of the Armed Forces of Ecuador. His brother Héctor was a dentist, had his own practice in the city of Quito and enjoyed some success. The following anecdote illustrates her firm conviction: At the age of six Anita answered the question of a relative who wanted to know what aspirations the little girl had for her future. Her innocent response was that she wanted to be a school teacher. Upon hearing this, her father responded annoyed that the right profession for her is dentistry.
