SW boasts some of the finest navigable waters, which are enjoyed by more than two million people each year. The Sydney International Boat Show draws thousands of keen boaters to Sydney, and we hope you have time to explore some of our fantastic waterways while you are here. Boating has always been a popular pastime; however, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, we have seen more and more people return to boating or take up a range of watercraft activities as new hobbies. With that in mind, safety on our waterways remains the priority of the NSW Government. Through our education campaigns we continue to equip skippers with information to mitigate any risks they may face on the water and encourage them to always make safe decisions. We also continue to deliver a wide range of infrastructure projects through the Boating Now Program, to provide safe access at boat ramps and upgraded facilities.

SYDNEY INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW

Maritime safety is a shared responsibility and our continued collaboration with other government agencies and industry organisations such as the Boating Industry Association (BIA) is helping us to build a safety culture around boating, ensuring it remains enjoyable for all. I thank the BIA for their efforts and congratulate them for putting on this fantastic event. I encourage you all to visit the Boating Safety Zone and speak to the various organisations who dedicate their time to keeping us all safe on the water.

The Hon. David Andrew Elliott MP Minister for Transport NSW Government
