Behind The Wheel With THE KING (Arthur Prayther)

Dallas, Texas-Just like a kid is a Candy Store with a few dollars in his pocket, we took the All new Ford F-150 XLT to Dallas the other week. Man the first thing I notice was the fact it was roughly 700 pounds lighter than the older models. Thanks a to a new Military Grade Aluminum Alloy Ford has changed everything with the introductions of this fully Aluminum Body truck. Yes it is certainly lighter but that has a very bright side. It has the best in class payload at 3300 pounds and it also tows up to 12,200 again best in class. As it that is not enough the new Ford second generation EcoBoost engine cranks out 325 horse power and still manages a Combine average of 22 miles per gallon with 19 in the city and 26 on the highway. We can safely say our test vehicle lived up to those numbers without a doubt. The 2.7 liter V6engine we referred to is standard equipment on the new All aluminum Body Ford F-150 XLT. An even more powerful 3.5 Liter V6 engine produces 365 horses at 5,000RPM and cranks out 420 pound per foot of torque. That engine delivers 17 miles per gallon in the city and 24 on the highway for a combine 20 miles per gallon. Again we can safely say Ford is taking care of business when it comes to their truck fleet. With several configurations available the F-150 is living up to its name and then

some. During our week long test we had the vehicle up to high rates of speed but notice no wind noises and got a real safe feel. The 6-speed automatic transmission proved to be just right when you punched it the vehicle delivered and when you drove normal you got a tremendous economic value. The new F-150 XLT comes with a 3 year/36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty and a 5year/60,000 mile power train warranty, plus 5-year/60,000 safety restraint system and yes 5-year/Unlimited miles on the aluminum Body and the topped it off with a big 5-year 6000

miles Roadside assistance. With a massive looking 96.8 wide stance and a 243.7 feet long presence the new Ford F150 XLT is holding its place at the top of the pickup truck line. With a 5 feet 5-inch style side bed with 67 inches total as stan-

dard Ford offers all the way up to an 8-foot bed with 97.6 inches and a wheel base of 145.0 inches. A 34.7-inch distance between the tailgate and the ground making loading the truck a breeze. The lockable tailgate with styling cues matches the

one on the rear sides of the cargo box give it a special looking flare. In closing please allow me to add the new Ford F-150 XLT certainly had a quality sound system and we were jamming all the way to Dallas and back!

KIA SOUL FULLY ELECTRIC CAR INTERESTING

By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View In one of the most interesting weeks we’ve had since 1987 when we started test driving vehicles. Taking control of the new Kia Soul Fully Electric automobile was a new road to travel. The vehicle had a life span of less than 100 miles and the regular plug in took a while to fully charge again. One thing about the vehicle it drove just as any other vehicle with a total of 109 horsepower with the 27kwh

Lithium Ion Polymer Battery and the 81.4kW AC Synchronous Electric Motor and a 6.6kW On-Board Charger. The DC Fast Charge Port (480V) is what we did not experience because the Plug-in took a while to charge up as in allnight. This was interesting to say the least, but at any rate we went across town in the new Kia Soul and the fit and feel is just as with the normal vehicle. It took a while to get use to plugging it up at night. Hopefully at some point we will

It comes with a regenerative Braking system and yes it even had alloy wheels. An electronically powered A/C and heat pump provided the same comforts you’ve come expect. When it come to warranties the new Kia Soul Electric comes with a 10-year/100,000 mile limited power train Warranty, a 10year/100,000mile limited Battery Warranty, 5-year/60,000 mile limited basic warranty and a 5year/60,000Mile Roadside

Safety for the new Kia Electric automobile had dual front advanced airbags, dual front seat-mounted airbags and fulllength side curtain airbags. Yes the vehicle has anti-lock braking system and brake assist system along with Electronically stability control along with vehicle stability management and tire pressure monitoring. Once you are behind the wheel you are treated to the same you would expect from any vehicle. Navigation system with 8-inch display and UVO-EV services and sure it has Satellite Sirius XM radio with three free

months. Believe it or not it even had leather trimmed seats and rear camera display. Push bottom start and smart key and heated and ventilated front seats with heated rear outboard seats. One of the most important things is the energy usage monitor. Comes in handy so you know how much further you can go without a re-charge. In closing please allow me to add the new Kia Soul UVO-Ev is 86 per cent Korean with only 1 per cent of its part from the United States and Canada. The final assembly point is in Korea as well as both the engine and transmission are built there as well!

LEXUS ES 300H SEDAN AN ENGINEERING WONDER By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Since January of 1987 when we test drove our first vehicle we have grown in leaps and bounds when it comes to the engineering that goes into the building of today’s automobiles. Well there’s one that stands out in my mind right off the bat. It’s the Lexus ES 300h Sedans and we simply marvel at the engineering of this product. This vehicle simply gets 40 miles per gallon and still manages to have a combine 200 horse power. That’s within itself is an engineering wonder. The 2.5 liter Dual Cam in-line 4-cyldiner engine with High Output Permanent Magnet Electric motor combines for 200 Total system horses. An All Aluminum engine construction and VVT-I and electronically controlled continuously variable

transmission with intelligence. Four-wheel independent Macpherson strut type suspension with gas pressurized shock absorbers. Equipped with front and rear stabilized bars completes the formula for a smooth yet performance enhanced ride. Power hit’s the road on P215/55R17-All Season tires circulating around a set of 17inch Alloy wheels. To top it all off the new Hybrid Lexus has a rear spoiler to really give it a more sporty look. Over the years Lexus has always had a full array of safety features and the new 2015 Lexus ES 300h is no exception. Dual front airbags with knees airbags front and rear seat mounted side airbags and front and rear side curtain airbags. Supplemental restraint system with 3-point safety belts for all seating posi-

tions. Throw in front and rear outboard seatbelt pretension with force limiters. Without a doubt the new Lexus has 4wheel anti-locking brakes with electronic brake force distribution and brake assist and a energy managing crumple zone and side door beams. That’s just about as safe as you could be while behind the wheel. Fact is the NHTSA gave Lexus ES 300h a overall 5-star rating, with 5-star rating for driver and front passengers in frontal crashes and a 4-star rating in single vehicle

roll over crashes. Inside the new Lexus Hybrid you will be please to note it has all the normal layout commonly found in much more expensive Luxury touring sedans. Piano Black Trimmed interior and the driver and front passenger gets a 10-way power seat including lumbar support. A one touch open and close power tilt and slide moon roof is also standard equipment on the new Lexus. A Lexus premium Audio system complete with Automatic Sound levelizer and MP3 Player with

Just think about this for a while a vehicle with 200 horses under the hood but it still manages to get 40 miles per gallon of gasoline and has a five star rating and a quality fit and feel and still cost less than 50 Grand. Long ways from what was offered in 1987.

STUDEWOOD COBRAS ROLL PAST RAVENS By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View In this their 40h season the Studewood Cobras rolled past the North Houston Ravens with three of their four teams posting victories. The Undefeated Freshmen who use to play flag with 5 and 6 years old now playing tackle won 12-0. The Sophomores won 20-19 in a thriller the group who were called freshmen in their previous league under the leadership of the legendary Walter Penrice Senior. The JV Cobras lost in a

nail bitter 13-14 while the varsity won 35-28 as they made their presence felt in the Grid Iron League. Reggie Washington is the head coach of the Varsity and they figure big as the playoffs draws near. Over the past 40 years the Studewood Cobras have played well in many leagues across the city and clearly are one of the top programs in the Country. On October 10th the Cobras will have homecoming at BTW field against the G-Army and we certainly plan to be there!

LINEMAN OF THE WEEK DANIEL VALENZUELA-WHEATLEY By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View With the game on the line and a 2-0 start waiting in the wings, the Wildcats offensive line went to work. The last drive put De’Avian Wright in the end zone and a big 32-26 come from behind win over the Kashmere Rams in the annual Lockwood Classic. “Our offensive line did not give up, Kashmere had us pretty good in the first half but we didn’t give up”. A strong showing in the second half erased a big Kashmere lead and the Wildcats moved the ball up and down the field scoring on the proud Rams defense. “This year our team has been working on being better and try very hard to win the district and get into the state playoffs.

Valenzuela is also a junior and looks like the Wildcats are going to be pretty good for at least another year as well. With only 9 seniors the Wildcats figure to build on this great start!

A RISING STAR-TREVOR MOORE-WHEATLEY By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View The rifled arm junior QB at Wheatley is already part of history. In their season opener the Wildcats whipped Jack Yates 14-6 for their first win over Yates since 1973. “Yes sir I cried tears of joy because we had worked so hard to get off to a good start”. The Wildcats continued in week two as they turned back the Kashmere Rams 32-26 in the annual Lockwood Classic. “We must take this thing one game at a time and put this season in God’s hand

and take it one play at a time”. They are talking state championship at Wheatley for the first time in years. Wheatley football and state championships are two word that haven’t been said in the same sentence in many a year.Moore a 6 feet 4 inch 173 pound junior is ready to make the Wildcats a force in district 11-4A again this year. “We feel with God’s help we can be a pretty good team this year”. After looking at the Wildcats 20 start one thing is for sure the team will have something to say about the district 11-4A race.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK D’AMONTE PIERRE-WHEATLEY By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View With the Wildcats trailing the KRams big in the second half the ball came loose and junior linebacker D’Amonte Pierre bounce on it and scooped it up and raced for a score. When asked what happen on the play the happy backer said he was simply in the right place at the right time. “ Our choices told us if we rush to the ball good things can happen. You can see it put us up by 10 points and we went on to win the game”. The past three years Kashmere had won the Lockwood Classic, but according the Pierre, the Wildcats wanted to make sure they were ready to play this year. “If you come to Wheatley early in the morning you will see us working out, because we believe this can be a great year for us”. The team is running hard and you all are going to see some good things happen at Wheatley this year sir”. The Wildcats beat Yates for the

first time since the fall of 1973 and Pierre calls it a miracle. “Yes Sir miracles can happen

and it just did again as we beat Kashmere and won the Lockwood Classic”.

WHEATLEY WILDCATS WINS LOCKWOOD CLASSIC By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View The Wheatley Wildcats clawed their way back from a big deficit and beat the Kashmere Rams 32-26 to the 10th Annual Lockwood Classic. The game had a pretty good crowd at Delmar Stadium and the fans

really got into the act. The Rams using the multi-talented Josh Linton to jump all over Wheatley and lead at one point 26-12. But coach Cornelius McFarland kept his players focused as the worked to get back in the game. Junior quarterback Trevor Moore got loose on a run of 7 yards and closed

the gap, then it was a defensive player by D’Amonte Pierre that gave them the lead on a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Moore also found Earl Williams on a big 65 yard strike and the

game winner to De’Avain Wright from 67 yards out. Two by air and one by land was the call of the night for Trevor Moore the junior signal caller. Defensive end Darrin Bradley

and defensive back Daryl Edmonson helped to keep the Wildcats in the game when Kashmere was off to such a great start.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK DE’AVIAN WRIGHT - WHEATLEY By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View With the game hanging the wind athlete De’Avian Wright got his hands on the ball, broke one tackle, shook to guys and raced for the game winning score. “Hey man, I’m a senior and no way was I going to let Kashmere beat us again. He was referring to the fact the Rams had beaten

Wheatley for three straight years in the Annual Lockwood Classic. “I told Trevor I was open all night and with Kashmere talking all week long, I just wanted to get a chance to get the ball and take it took the house”. Lined up in the slot on this play Wright used his moves to get open and once he caught the ball he was gone to the

house. “All these defenders try to play me one way or the other, but my footwork is so superb it don’t matter how they line up against me I can get free”. He certainly got free and it turned out to be the game winner as Wheatley rolled on. Beating Jack Yates is a blessing according to Wright. “Hey man, my mother and father went to Wheatley and they kept telling us we got to beat Yates and bring the victory back to the community”. In closing Wright said they made history in winning their first two games. “I love this team our offense and defense and my quarterback, we want to win district and get into the high school football playoffs!

MOSES MALONE HEADS TO PROMISED LAND By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Just a couple of months ago Moses Malone and I walked into the funeral services for the late James “Scully” Austin. It has been a while since we had seen each other. After making sure it was him we shook hands and spoke and walked quietly into the services. After the services Malone, who has always been a big favorite, joked with those he knew best and we enjoyed some of Big Ray’s Barbeque during the re-pass. Time takes charge and no matter who you are we must all go at one time or another. While in Virginia to play in a golf tournament Malone passed

away in his sleep at age 60. Just routinely visiting the web we spotting the update late Sunday night and it was shocking to think a man who toward over people with his rebounding skills and looked so well a couple of months ago is now gone. It goes to show just how precious life really is. For the record Moses Eugene Malone was born on March 23, 1955 in St Petersburg, Virginia and was the only child of Mary and Moses Malone senior. Kind of fitting don’t you think? Being an All-star at St. Petersburg high school Moses jumped straight to the ABA and later became the center piece for the Houston Rockets. Dominating on the boards and scoring on put backs like no one since the days of the late Wilt

Moses Malone a gentle giant in the BA for 20-years

Chamberlain, Malone quickly established himself among the greats. Winning the leagues MVP Three times and an AllStar twelve times in his twenty year career. The title year with the Philadelphia 76eres came in 1983 as Moses took his team the promise land after a couple close calls with the Houston Rockets. Moses married Alfreda Ann Gill and the couple had two sons Moses Jr. and Michael Earl. Later on Malone would be blessed with a third son Micah. Leaving his former wife, three sons and grand-daughter Mia to mourn his passing along with uncles Oscar and Arthur among others. It seems like only yesterday when the Houston Rockets went to airport to pickup this tall skinny kid with a big afro-hair do, but that was in 1976. Little did anyone know this kid would grow into an Hall of Famer and be among the 50 Best players to ever play in the NBA. For all those days I would be

down at the Fonde Recreation Center on Sabine street memories will last forever and big Mo would sit and sweat and read the paper. Then after a while he would go out on the floor and teach Hakeem Olajuwon, Charles Barkley and others how to rebound. In closing please allow me to add that Moses Malone is among the only four players in NBA history to have more than 25,000 points and 15,000 rebounds. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had 38,387 points and 17,400 rebounds in his 22-year pro career. Wilt Chamberlain scored 31,419 points and grabbed 23,924 rebounds in his 14 year career. Then came Moses with 27,409 points and 16,212 boards in his 20-year career. Big E, Elvin Hayes pumped in 27,313 points and hauled down16,279 points in his outstanding career. Establishing himself as the offensive rebounding specialist Malone will always be remembered for his blue collar work

ethic! Sleep on Big Mo, because you did a tough job well for a very long time!

WHAT IS TRUTH? NEW TESTAMENT PRAISE What is Truth? John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy Word is truth. ew Testament praise Dear reader, it is again a privilege and a blessing, to be able to share with you, some scriptural truths. In the religious world today, there are many different ways given to praise the Lord. There are many different ways given in The Old and New Testaments, to praise Him. In the Old Testament, all that was under the old law was given instructions on how to praise Him. These instructions were given by God, through different ones, and if followed circumspectly, these made them right [righteous] with Him. Exod 23:13 And in all things that I have said unto you be (1)CIRCUMSPECT: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.(KJV) Definition:(1)CIRCUMSPECT-8104 shamar (shawmar’); a primitive root; to hedge about (as with thorns), i.e. guard; generally, to protect, attend to, etc.: KJV— beward, be circumspect, take heed (toself), keep (-erself,), mark, look narrowly, observe, preserve, regard, reserve, save (self), sure, (that lay) wait (for), watch (-man). If we are of God we must hear God’s word; “John 8:47 He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.” In Matt. the 17th chapter verses 18, God made it clear, to whom Christians must hear; “Matt 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.” According to God, Christians must hear Christ and him only, note verse 8. Christians must be doers of the word, and not hearers only (James1:21-27). Christ then made it clear in John the 17th chapter, on how Christians are to believe on him and why; “John 17:19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. 20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us:

that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.” According to Jesus Christ, all must believe on him through the Apostles word, so that we ALL may be one. We can only find their word, in N. T. scripture. Remember, Jesus gave them the word (please read Matt.28:20; John 17:14). Then the Apostles verified their authorization by Jesus Christ;

Acts 1:1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, 2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: 3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:(KJV) 1 Cor 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. 2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. 3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.(KJV) Phil 3:17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. 1Thes 4:1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. 2 For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.(KJV) 2 Pet 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: 2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: 3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,(KJV) Dear reader; we thought the following referenced scriptures, concluded our study on NEW TESTAMENT PRAISE, but we were somewhat CONFUSED. We were CONFUSED, in that most religious organizations

play music to “PRAISE the Lord” in their worship services. We know that the Lord is not the author of CONFUSION, please read; “1Cor 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.” We also know by SCRIPTURE, that if ONE religious organization, plays music to “praise the Lord” in their worship, then ALL MUST, in order to be right [righteous] with God (see John 17:20-21). But, after searching N.T. scriptures thoroughly, we have NOT found any EXAMPLE, or COMMAND for the use of INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC: for PRAISE, or WORSHIP. ALL CHRISTIANS MUST speak the same thing, according to the APOSTLES doctrine. Please read; “1 Cor 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” “Phil 3:16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. 17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.” “Eph 5:13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. 14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. 15 See then that ye (1)walk (2)circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.(KJV) Definitions:(1)walk-4043 peripateo (per-ee-pat-eh’-o); from 4012 and 3961; to tread all around, i.e. walk at large (especially as proof of ability); figuratively, to live, deport oneself, follow (as a companion or votary): KJV— go, be occupied with, walk (about).1) to regulate one’s life 2) to conduct oneself 3) to pass one’s life (2)circumspectly-199 akribos (ak-ree-boce’); adverb from the same as 196; exactly: KJV— circumspectly, diligently, accurately, perfect (-ly).

Keeping all these things in mind, please get your bible, and let us

now note the definitions, and scriptural examples of New Testament Praise. These are the examples, instructions, and commands, given by Jesus Christ, through the Apostles, to those of the church that he is building, and is the head of. Just as those under the Old Law, those of the One Faith must follow circumspectly the instructions given in the New Testament blueprint of The Church, to be right [righteous] with God. NEW TESTAMENT PRAISE CONT. Luke 16:8 And the lord (#5)commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light. (KJV) 1 Cor 11:22 What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I (#5)praise you in this? (KJV) Phil 1:11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and (#6)praise of God. (KJV) Phil 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any (#6)praise, think on these things. (KJV) Reference Scriptures to Praise(#7)… Definition: Praise - by singing-5214 humneo (hoom-neh’-o); from 5215; to hymn, i.e. sing a religious ode; by implication, to celebrate (God) in song: KJV— sing a hymn (praise unto).1) to sing the praise of, to sing hymns to 2) to sing a hymn, to sing. (KJV) Eph 5:19 speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, (#7)singing and making melody (*)in your (*)heart to the Lord; Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, (#7)singing with grace (*)in your (*)hearts to the Lord.” Definitions:(#7)singing-103 aido (ad’-o)’ a primary verb;to sing, to the praise of anyone, to sing: KJV— sing…..(*)in-1722 en-in, by, with, etc……(*) your heart-2588 kardia (kar-dee’-

ah); prolonged from a primary kar (Latin, cor, “heart”); the heart, i.e. (figuratively) the thoughts or feelings (mind); also (by analogy) the middle: KJV— (+broken-) heart (-ed).

1 Cor 10:16 The cup of blessing which we (#8)bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?(KJV)

In Eph.5:19, we found SPEAKING, not PLAYING to ourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. We found SINGING, not PLAYING. We found making melody IN (with or by) our HEARTS (minds), not WITH INSTRUMENTS. Lastly we found this was to be done to THE LORD according to the apostle’s doctrine; NOT Singing and Playing, but SINGING and making melody in our hearts to THE LORD. Scriptural food for thought, the statements “in your heart(s); in their heart(s); in he, she, the heart(s)” was used many times in the Old Testament, not ONCE did we find that MELODY was to be made in, by or with THEIR heart(s). According to Old Testament Scriptures, melody was to be made with INSTRUMENTS and this made THEM, the Children of Israel right (righteous) with God. Christians are to let the word of Christ dwell in us richly in all wisdom; thereby teaching and admonishing one another by spiritual singing (see Col.3: 16). Singing is what the Apostles’ doctrine teaches, NOT songs accompanied by music, in groups, to the pleasure of the ear; but to the Lord.

James 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9 Therewith (#8)bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. 11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?(KJV) 1 Pet 3:8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: 9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise (#8)blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.(KJV)

Heb 2:12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I (#7sing praise) unto thee. (KJV) Reference Scriptures to Praise (#8)… Definition: Praise -2127 eulogeo- 1) to praise, to celebrate with praises 2) to invoke blessings 3) to consecrate a thing with solemn prayers a) to ask God’s blessing on a thing; from a compound of 2095 and 3056; to speak well of, i.e. (religiously) to bless (thank or invoke a benediction upon, prosper): KJV— bless, praise. Luke 1:64 And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, and (#8)praised God.(KJV) Luke 6:27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, 28 (#8)Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.(KJV) Luke 24:53 And were continually in the temple, praising and (#8)blessing God. Amen.(KJV) Rom 12:14 (#8)Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.(KJV)

Understanding the preceding scriptures, we continued our search for the TRUTH. In Eph.5:19, we found singing and making melody IN OUR HEARTS [minds] to THE LORD; not singing and making melody WITH INSTRUMENTS to THE LORD. Those of the One Faith, the Church that Christ is building and is the Head of, have been instructed on how to worship; “John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” Remember, Grace and TRUTH comes by CHRIST; “John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.” When we worship God, it MUST be by the spirit of Christ, and the Truth of N.T. scriptures. In searching under GRACE and TRUTH, which is the NEW TESTAMENT, where the APOSTLES’ doctrine and commands are found, we found the word MUSIC, ONLY ONCE, and it had nothing to do with praising the Lord or worship, as a matter of fact, it has NOTHING to do with the Church that Christ is building, and is the Head of (Eph.5:22-33; Col.1:12-20; Col.2:1-23), please read; “Luke 15:25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard (1)MUSICK and dancing. 26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant. 27 And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him

safe and sound.” Definition:(1)MUSICK-4858 sumphonia (soom-fo-nee’-ah); from 4859; unison of sound (“symphony”), i.e. a concert of instruments (harmonious note): KJV— music. Continuing our search under GRACE and TRUTH, we found the word PLAY, ONLY ONCE, and it had nothing to do with musical instruments of praise or worship, but with IDOLATRY, Please read; “1 Cor 10:6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 7 either be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to (1)PLAY.” Definition:(1)PLAY-3815 paizo (paheed’-zo); from 3816; to sport (as a boy), 1) to play like a child 2) to play, to sport, to jest 3) to give way to hilarity, especially by joking, singing, or dancing: KJV— play. In our search of the NEW TESTAMENT, in the apostles’ doctrine, we found the word INSTRUMENTS, ONLY TWICE, and they had nothing to do with MUSIC, nor praise or worship, but about our BODIES being instruments of SIN, rather than instruments of RIGHTEOUSNESS, Please read; Rom 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13 either yield ye your (1)MEMBERS as (2)I STRUME TS of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as (2)I STRUME TS of righteousness unto God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. 15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. 16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.(KJV) Definitions:(1)MEMBERS3196 melos (mel’-os); of uncertain affinity; a limb or part of the body, a member, limb: a member of the human body; used of bodies given up to criminal intercourse, because they are as it were members belonging to the harlot’s body: KJV— member.

NEW TESTAMENT PRAISE CONT. (2)I STRUME TS-3696 hoplon (hop’-lon); probably from a primary hepo (to be busy about); an implement or utensil or tool (literally or figuratively, especially offensive for war): KJV— armour, instrument, weapon. Dear reader, please note this, in our search of the NEW TESTAMENT, the words PLAYED; PLAYING; PLAYER; PLAYERS; INSTRUMENT, were NOT ONCE found. All of these were found many times under the Law of Moses; under the Levitical priest hood; under David the king of Israel (under the OLD TESTAMENT), but not ONCE under GRACE and TRUTH (under the NEW TESTAMENT) under CHRIST and His Apostles’ Words, commands and or Doctrine (John17:17-21; Acts 1:1-3; Acts 2:41-42). In this study there is one more word that was found many times in the OLD TESTAMENT, that was not found ONCE, in the NEW TESTAMENT, and that is “SI GERS”. Note the definitions; 2 Chr 29:27 And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the LORD began also with the trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Israel. 28 And all the congregation worshipped, and the (#1)SI GERS sang, and the trumpeters sounded: and all this continued until the burnt offering was finished.(KJV) Definition #1) SI GERS-7892 shier or feminine shiyrah-a song of Levitical choirs as a feminine noun: 2) a song; a song, an ode Ezr 7:24 Also we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levies, (#2)SI GERS, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them.(KJV) (Definition #2) SI GERS-2171 seamier (Aramaic) (zam-mawr’); from the same as 2170; an instrumental musician: KJV— singer. eh 10:28 And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levies, the porters, the (#3)SI GERS, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;(KJV) (Definition #3) SI GERS-5411 Anthony (naw-theen’); or Nathan (Ezr. 8:17) (naw-thoon’)

(the proper form as passive participle), from 5414; one given, i.e. (in the plural only) the Nethinim, or Temple-servants (as given to that duty): KJV— Nethinims.Temple slaves assigned to the Levies and priests for service in the sanctuary 1 Chr 9:33 And these are the (#4)SI GERS, chief of the fathers of the Levies, who remaining in the chambers were free: for they were employed in that work day and night.(KJV) Ecc. 2:8 I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men (#4)SI GERS and women (#4)SI GERS, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts. 9 So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me. 10 And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labor: and this was my portion of all my labor. 11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labor that I had labored to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.(KJV) (Definition #4) SI GERS-7891 shier or (the original form) shower (1 Sam. 18:6)-1) to sing 2) singer, SO GSTRESS (participle) to sing: sing (-ER, -in man, -in woman). Please remember, there are many examples of CHOIRS and special GROUP SINGERS under the OLD LAW, but NOT ONCE under CHRIST. We are no more CONFUSED, for we are SCRIPTURALLY CLEAR on the topic of New Testament Praise, authorized by GOD through CHRIST and His Apostles. For ANY MAN to implement musical instruments, choirs and or group singing for the Church that Jesus Christ is the head of, is implementing ERROR; simply because JESUS CHRIST through his Apostles didn’t! Once again we are no more CONFUSED, but we are SADDENED, that so many souls are participating in these things that JESUS CHRIST has not put in place; that cannot be found in His APOSTLES’ doctrine, commands and or examples. How dare we put things in place for our FLESHLY LUSTS and VANITIES, and then say we are Praising The Lord, when actually we are praising ourselves? The Apostles’ words are perfect, as they were guided by The

Holy Spirit. Their examples and commands are clear and complete, they MUST NOT and CANNOT be amended by MAN, thereby TRULY PRAISING THE LORD. How do we error? Please Read; “Matt 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, (1)Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.” Definition:(1)Ye do err 4105 planao (plan-ah’-o); from 4106; to (properly, cause to) roam (from safety, truth, or virtue): KJV— go astray, deceive, err, seduce, wander, to cause to stray, to lead astray, to lead aside from the right way, 2) metaphorically: a) to lead away from the truth, to lead into error and sin, c) to be led aside from the path of virtue, to go astray, to sin d) to sever or fall away from the truth; used of heretics. SINGING is what the Apostles’ doctrine teach, NOT SINGERS. The requirements for singing in the Apostles’ doctrine, is different than those of singers. The Apostles’ requirements for singing, as they were guided by the Holy Spirit, are these “Col. 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” These requirements are SPIRITUAL. The requirements for singers [choirs and group singers], in the religious world today, are these: one must be able to sing as required by the group or group leaders. One must be able to sound good to the ear; one must NOT be tone deaf (in other words be able to hit a note), one must be able to perform. Lastly one must be able to “look the part”. If one doesn’t meet these requirements, he or she cannot be apart of this esteemed group, put in place by man; and these requirements are CARNAL. There are those that proclaim to be of the One Faith that participates in these GROUP singings, competing one against the other: voting for best group, and or album. One group not sounding so well to the ear is shown disapproval; by being applauded less and even those getting up and walking out on their performance. It has been said, the other group SATISFYING THE EAR, is shown approval by much applause, and then most sadly, some by money being thrown on the stage. This is ALL CARNAL, FLESHLY, WORLDLY and VAIN which is not of the FATHER, but is of the WORLD (Rom.8:5-9; James 4:4-10; 1John2:15-17)! Those that continue in these things and those that FELLOWSHIP them, are not of the Father, because

these things are NOT OF CHRIST and His Apostles (2Thes.3:6). Please consider this carefully. Those that are not good enough to meet your fleshly, carnal requirements, are they not your brothers and sisters? Don’t you think to be told that “you are not good enough”, might hurt them? Thank God, they are not good enough to participate in ERROR! However they are good enough to sing praises to the Lord, as instructed by the APOSTLES’ DOCTRINE (Matt.28:20; Acts 1:13; 2:41-42), if they have put on Christ in baptism, according to scripture; and have let the word of Christ dwell in them richly in all wisdom. We must not reject the words of the Lord: John 12:48 “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.” Not walking in the order of the Apostles will result in certain circumstances, which MUST be carried out by those of the One Faith. Please read carefully; “II Th 3:6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye (1)withdraw yourselves from every brother that (2)walketh (3)disorderly, and not after the (4)tradition which he received of us. 7 For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;” Definitions:(1)withdraw yourselves-4724 stello (stel’-lo); properly, to set fast (“stall”), i.e. (figuratively) to repress (reflexively, abstain from associating with): KJV— avoid, withdrawself; to remove oneself, to depart; to abstain from familiar intercourse with one. (2)walketh-4043 peripateo-to walk: Hebrew for, to live, to regulate one’s life, to conduct oneself, to pass one’s life (3)disorderly-814 ataktos-disorderly, out of ranks (often so of soldiers) deviating from the prescribed order or rule (4)tradition-3862 paradosis (par-ad’-osis); from 3860; transmission, i.e. (concretely) a precept; KJV— ordinance, tradition. Note here the apostles Paul, John and our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; 2 Cor 13:5 (1)Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be (2)reprobates?(KJV) Definitions:(1)Examine yourselves-3985 peirazo (pi-rad’zo); from 3984; to test (objectively), i.e. endeavor, scrutinize, discipline: KJV— assay, examine, go about, prove, try. (2)reprobates 96 adokimos (ad-

Page 13

ok’-ee-mos); from 1 (as a negative particle) and 1384; unapproved, i.e. rejected; by implication, worthless (literally or morally): KJV— castaway. I Jn 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. Thanks again for your interest in the WORD of TRUTH; GRACE and SALVATION; John 17:1721; Acts 20:29-32; James1:2125. After all it is our MAP to HEAVEN, and away from HELL! Now here is a SCARY thought, let not this be our end because of MAN’S interpretations and traditions; “Matt 7:21 ot every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: Matt 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:” Dear readers remember as always, the purpose of these articles is to seek the TRUTH according to THE WORD, thereby exposing ERROR, for the purpose of saving our souls. We believe this is best done by definitions and the PREPONDERANCE OF SCRIPTURES; which is having superior weight, force, importance, or influence of SCRIPTURE. Again we believe this allows SCRIPTURE to INTERPRET SCRIPTURE, thereby allowing a better understanding on that topic. Again, thank you so much for your interest in the WORD of TRUTH; GRACE and SALVATION; John 17:17-21; Acts 20:29-32; James1:21-25. After all it is our MAP to HEAVEN and away from HELL, and the continuance in it, is the O LY thing that allows the man of God to be perfect, 2Tim.3:12-17! THE LIFE AND TIMES OF ROY JACKSON JR. By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View When Cora Mae and Roy James Jackson welcomed their son on December 18, 1938, they couldn’t have thought what a legend he would become. Attending school in Houston ISD before graduating from George Washington Carver in Aldine ISD, Roy Jackson was a well rounded athlete in his days. But more importantly was somewhat of a guy who could do just about anything from Concrete pouring to carpenter works, paint and body work and auto mechanics. The man basically did well with everything he came in contact with. Known for his horseman and cowboy skills that included trail rides and just everyday horseback riding and the works. His greatest move was to marry the lovely and Talented Sadie Pearl. The couple shared 53 wonderful years together until his call to Heaven on September 17, 2015. For more than 76 years Roy Jackson spread love and joy to everyone he came in contact with. That brings me to the way we met the Jackson family during the fall of 1982. It seems the late Joe Booker who was writing high school sports for the Houston Forward Times at the time had credited a Yates runner who had 200 yards and two scores as the best performing star of the week. Well earlier in the next week FT got a call from

Mrs. Jackson to set the record straight. So the late Varee Shields assigned me to go visit with the Jackson Family at 2110 West Little York. A visit to the Jackson family home changed my life. For the record Roy Jackson Jr. had rushed for over 250 yard and scored four times for Mac Arthur against Eisenhower. When I knocked on the door a tall, well built mild mannered man answered. So when I asked to speak with Mrs. Jackson he opened the door and said come on in she is expecting you. Two hours later we had met most of the family and ending up writing a story called the Jackson family 8. That’s the same number of members in the other family of Jackson known as the Jackson 5. But this Jackson family was much more interesting as the years went by Roy Jr. went on to lead MacArthur to the playoff and become the school’s all-time leading rushers as well as the school’s all-time scorer with 62 touchdowns over his career. Lisa Jackson went on to become the first Black Cheerleader in MacArthur’s history. Yes John Jackson rushed for 2,000 yards in middle school and the list goes on, the accomplishments of this one family on West Little York. Tammy was operating a medical supply business and styling hair while still in college. Lisa went on to run a day care center and Gwendolyn was also very active. Roy and John worked in the family automobile shop in back of the house as

well as holding down jobs.

Mrs. Jackson operated West Little York Bookkeeping and I was thoroughly impressed with the way this family served their community. She also ran the scale at J.L. Proler Scrap Metal yard as Mr. Jackson worked with heavy machine loading and unloading smashed automobiles and other metals works.

Eddie Robinson over in Grambling, just being around two people so in love meant so much too me.

On Saturday September 26th we attended the home going services of Roy Jackson before a packed building at Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church on Dolly Wright.

People came from near and far to praise Mr. Jackson for his positive outlooks on life and the way he shared love throughout his community. We spotted guys with fancy boots and belt buckles with tears in their eyes as well. You know it’s hard to get a cowboy to cry. But it goes to show just how much Mr. Jackson meant to so many people!

My mind goes back to Roy’s House of Motors, where Mr. Jackson sold automobile parts and I actually got a 1973 Lincoln Mark IV from him. It cost me 250 Dollars and I drove it two years and sold it for the same 250 dollars. It was Mrs. Jackson who bought the first ad I sold and we later had radio shows and played the music of Pearl Records on Sundays. We even went on to do some gospel concerns with Mrs. Jackson help. Let me add in Roy Jr. senior year at Southwest Texas State he became the school’s greatest single season rusher. His best game still stands out in my mind because it was against Rice he had 21 carries for 186 yards and four touchdowns. We sat in the stands with Mr. and Mrs. Jackson and it’s still one of the fondest memories of Mr. Roy Jackson. Being there with them as Roy Jr. ran through, around and over Rice defenders I came away with a great feeling because much like Doris and

West Little York Jackson Family. That’s good enough for Me!

Having never met the late Timothy Jackson, we were honored to have attended the weddings of all their other five children. Now into my 33rd year of writing I’m never enjoyed writing about anything as much as I have writing about members of the Jackson Family. The late Michael Jackson and
