Takeisha Brown serves as Principal in Kansas City Public Schools where she carries out the vision and mission of KCPS, in addition to the individual mission and vision of Wendell Phillips. Takeisha works diligently to support staff in all capacities to raise student achievement. She coaches teachers and builds their capacity. She intentionally builds relationships with students and partnerships with civic and business organizations to help meet the needs of students, staff, and families, alike. Takeisha created a mentoring program, Brown Girl Sister Friends, to support struggling 5th and 6th grade girls who had poor attendance, subpar grades, and challenging behavior.Takeisha earned her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta Georgia; Master of Arts in Curriculum Instruction with an emphasis in Multicultural Education from University of MissouriKansas City; Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership & Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri-Columbia and is currently pursuing an Interdisciplinary Doctorate in Psychology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She works diligently at being a culturally responsive practitioner and leader. Takeisha is an active member of the National Association for Multicultural Education & National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. She is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Takeisha enjoys listening to music, reading, writing poetry, visiting museums, photography, and pursuing artistic expression through collaging, painting, and designing jewelry and clothes.
