1) What is something that causes people to fear failure the most?
2) Read Matthew 14:22-33. How did Jesus address the disciples’ fear?
3) How did the disciples respond to Jesus? Would you have jumped out of the boat?
4) Read Daniel 3:13-18, how did Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego respond to the pressure to worship the idol?
5) What is the one thing you are afraid of failing in? What could happen if God was a part of that story and you said “even if it doesn’t work out, I’m going to trust God”?

Memorize Matthew 14:27.
Pick one thing you have avoided, because of the fear of failure, and do it this week.
“God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.”
Ephesians 1:5 (NLT)
We need to know the truth of Scripture to combat the lies of rejection. God has adopted us into His family, and we can rejoice in the fact that we are chosen by Him.

In Session Two, Pastor Nate talks about the Fear of Rejection.
1) Read Ephesians 1:3-8. What does this passage say Christ has done for us?
2) How can we focus on who God says we are?
3) Think of a moment in your story when you felt rejected. How did it influence the way you related to others?
4) What can we do to overcome the fear of rejection?
5) How can we help others who are facing the fear of rejection?

We don’t need to fear the future because God is with us. Don’t let fear of calamity control your response to what the future may bring. We can rely on the Holy Spirit to guide and protect us during difficult times.
In Session Three, Pastor Nate talks about the Fear of Calamity.
1) Read Psalms 91:1-16. Who finds the Lord as a place of refuge? How does this passage describe the Lord’s protection?
2) How does the world handle crisis? How is fear used as a tool of the enemy?
3) How did you handle the last calamity in your life? How did you make the Lord your place of refuge?
4) Read 2 Timothy 1:7. How can we balance being concerned with calamity without letting anxiety take control?
5) Identify some of the fears of calamity that have crept into your life? How can you handle the onslaught of bad news in a healthy way?

So many of us live with the fear of dying. It can drive us to do crazy things or stops us in our tracks. Jesus provided a way for us to no longer be a slave to the fear of dying. We can put our trust and hope in Him knowing the best is yet to come.
In Session Four, Pastor Nate talks about the Fear of Death.
1) How has the fear of death shaped society and our way of life?
2) How did your family handle this topic growing up? (avoid, obsess)
3) Read Psalms 23:1-6, where is the Lord when we are in the valley of the shadow of death? How can we put our hope in God in a new way?
4) Read Hebrews 2:14-15, according to this passage, what did Jesus accomplish for us?
5) Has the fear of death crept into your life, relationships, or thinking? What can you do this week to overcome that fear?
