Armoo is the project for my master thesis realized in the academic year 2021-2022, under the supervision of Els Du Bois (Product Development UA) .
Armoo consists of smart sensors and technology incorporated in new custom-made wardrobes. The sensors collect data and statistics about the use and wearing pattern of clothes. An application gives the user insight and creates awareness about wearing and combining clothes. This creates a connection between the physical and digital wardrobe. This solution contributes to extending the lifespan of clothing.

Wardrobe doors equipped with RFID technology make it possible to register both the number of times and the day on which the garments go in and out the wardrobe. That registration creates a first insight into the wearing pattern of the user. This way, it becomes clear which garments are worn a lot and which not.

The second insight into the wearing pattern is created by the holders for shelves. The holders are equipped with weight sensors. The sensors measure the difference in weight on the shelves when a garment is added or removed. This makes it clear which shelves are rarely used.

    How to install?
Iron the RFID tag into the garment.
The application contains nine functions of which the input is generated by the technology present in the wardrobe doors and holders. Some important functions are: consulting the inventory, creating outfits, finding outfit inspiration, viewing the wear history, connecting with other users in the community and viewing the statistics in the profile.

Take a picture of the garment.

Now you can start using the wardrobe as you are used to.

At the start of this assignment our group was asked to create a brand extension of a well-known brand. Within this project we chose the brand Dyson with a headphone as an accompanying product.
Together with two other students, we translated Dysons brand values into design characteristics for the design of a new headphone. The focus in this project was on the aesthetic and form aspects of the created design.
Each team member created several designs. You can discover my final design on the previous page. FIRST MASTER

Shape changing displays - Marmo 03
          Interaction Design
          DESIGNED TO LOVE
For this assignment, the goal was to create an interactive product concept for seniors. The interaction needs to be easily understood with no overload of functions. As a result of this assignment our group built an interactive and working record player.
During this assignment we matched three competences. The first competence was an on-screen projection with a beamer and animation created in Adobe After Effects. The second competence was 3D modelling and mechanical design for building our prototype. The last competence was using electronics and Arduino to make sure our prototype worked.
Marmo is a romantic record player that makes your dinner unforgettable. We wanted to create a romantic atmosphere with Marmo and it’s elegant design. Marmo works when one of five marbles is placed on the large white circle. Each marble represents a song that starts playing when the marble starts to dance on the lyrics of the song.

These projects show some examples of more advanced modelling techniques and renderings. All 3D models on the following pages were created in Solidworks and rendered with Solidworks Visualize or Keyshot with some finetuning in Photoshop.

Design tennis skirt - Pure by luce 01

Since Pure by luce mainly sells sports leggings, they were thinking of expanding their product range. This could be done with a tennis skirt. During the design process, the current style of Pure by luce was analysed in detail. It had to be something minimalistic but with a twist. Once the design was finalised, a first prototype was made from leftover fabric on which prints had been tested. Later, for the final prototype a more realistic fabric was chosen to work with.
Finally, various possible colour combinations were determined, the appropriate fabric was chosen and the technical drawings were made.

Design hang tag - Pure by luce 02
The launch of the new Pure by luce collection also includes new hang tags. An interview with the designer was conducted for this new collection. This interview had to be incorporated into the hangtag. By adapting the design to a paper sleeve, it was possible to store the interview in the hang tag like a small newspaper.
The design for the visual representation of the interview certainly had to include the folding lines. No folding line was allowed to make important information less readable. The various designs and mock-ups are presented here.

Graphic design - Pure by luce 03

During my 10 weeks internship at Pure by luce, I completed several graphic design tasks. These were very diverse tasks such as designing a runners guide, posters, postcards linked to the new collection, postcards telling the story of Pure by luce and so on.
The results of some designs can be found here.

            Reusable packaging - HNST 04
          “From RePack to totebag”
One of the assignments I completed for HNST was the design of a reusable packaging. With the new design, the packaging for online orders should not be thrown away once it has arrived.
The result is a tote bag that has two different sides. On one side, velcro strips are attached to close the bag during shipping. On the other side the bag contains the logo of HNST, for marketing purposes.
Furthermore, the dimensions were an important aspect during the design. The packaging had to be suitable for sending two pairs of jeans at the same time. It frequently happens that customers are not sure of their size and therefore order two pairs of jeans.

During this project, a mini capsule collection and matching branding was developed for Suspicious Antwerp together with a brand of your choice. For the brand, Sun Bum was chosen.
Sun Bum is an American brand that sells sun, hair, skin and lip care.
Presented here are the different designed logos. Finally, the logos were applied to possible garments. The full collection consists of T-shirt, longsleeve, sweater, hoodie and a beach towel.
