U.s. Embassy rehabilitation LISBON, PORTUGAL
ABOUT This past semester, I had the opportunity to complete an interdisciplinary historic rehabilitation project in collaboration with the United States State Department in Lisbon, Portugal. Before our class trip to Lisbon, our studio learned the best practices of working with historic properties, as well as the history of U.S. Embassies around the world. While in Lisbon, we were able to meet the Ambassador and his wife, George and Mary Glass, as well as interview employees who worked for the State Department. It was a once in a lifetime trip where I was able to not only bond with my classmates and professors, but also learn more about Portugal’s fascinating history. The property on the embassy grounds that we worked with included a manor house, chapel, and garden. In addition, we were tasked with conceptualizing an addition to the property complete with guest suites, a lobby, event space, and a lecture hall. Programs and techniques used: Revit, Enscape, Photoshop, Hand Drafting

concept Wellness and Productivity Wellness is an essential factor for productivity and success. Creating an environment that allows for the rejuvenation of the mind, body, and spirit will enable employees to reach their full potential. ABOUT Rid The Dystopia (RTD) is a design collective from the year 2040 with one goal: to Rid the Dystopia. It exists in a world where climate change has affected how we look at design as a whole. RTD is a collective in which all disciplines related to design and the environment are able to work together in order to make the world a better place. THE NEXT HUB WASHINGTON, D.C.
ABOUT NEXT University is a school in Washington, D.C. committed to continuing education for anyone ranging from high school graduates to working adults. Due to many of these classes being offered online, the NEXT Hub is a collaborative work environment where students can meet up for projects, lectures, or just to hang out and work. My inspiration for the NEXT Hub was 90’s Nostalgia. Using themes from 1990’s graphic design, I created a fun and modern space that is meant to bring nostalgia and productivity into this learning environment. Programs used: Revit, Enscape, Photoshop

CONCEPT Nostagia and Learning Most college students deal with poor mental health whether it be as a result of classes, social life, or other commitments. With a fun, nostalgic space like the NEXT Hub, the goal is to improve students’ mental health as well as get them excited to go to class and learn. Nostalgia creates shared experiences with others, and brings people closer together as well as more tolerable of strangers. It can help raise one’s mood and help with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and loneliness.

HOME FOR YOUNG ADULTS WITH ASD DES MOINES, IOWA
ABOUT The Cottage is a home for young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), located in the old August Publishing House building. Not only were we creating a home for these young adults, there was also a historical rehabilitation element. Our goal was to create a comfortable, homey environment for the residents while also keeping safety in mind. We used neighborhood imagery throughout the Cottage for wayfinding as well as to make the space residents feel at home. In addition to the main building on the property, there is also a 20th century carriage house. This structure was built in the ‘80’s to mimic the style of a space used to keep horses. In the rehabilitation, we decided to transform this building into event space with guest suites on the upper levels. Programs used: Revit, Enscape, Photoshop

flagship store ROME, ITALY
ABOUT Using the footprint of the iconic Fendi palazzo in Rome, #BeASwan #BeAsOne is a flagship store for a newly graduated fashion designer by the name of Lorenzo Di Giambattista. His avant garde debut line is inspired by the tale of the ugly duckling, and finding one’s inner beauty. We decided to take this concept of self discovery and reflect it in our spaces. As you walk through the store, each room represents a different phase of finding yourself; from an ugly duckling, to a beautiful swan. Lorenzo used water as a metaphor for reflection, so we interpreted that into antique bathroom fixtures. We created a whimsical space reminiscent of a modern fairytale using Baroque elements mixed with contemporary influences. Programs used: Revit, Photoshop

independent projects a variety of work from sketches to art installations
ABOUT My whole life, I have absolutely loved art. I love creating it, looking at it, learning about it, and I could talk about it for hours; it is what inspired me to become a designer. The pages that follow are a few examples of my art, as well as art installations that I have created. They were necessary in my journey in order to get where I am today.
honors research project The series of paper represents how college students deal with mental health on a regular basis. Each color is an answer to a different question. Just as the different colored papers are interlinked, so are the events in our lives and mental health. For my honors project, I decided to explore the many ways that my peers deal with their mental health, as well as what makes them happy. While mental health is an important part of our lives, it seems as though people are still afraid to talk about it. I asked my peers to help me remove that stigma by answering questions about mental health. I did this by first sending out a survey, then creating this installation where I invited my peers to write down an answer to one or more questions on the respective colored slip of paper. The questions were: “what triggers poor mental health for you?”, “how do you combat poor mental health?”, “what is your major?”, “what makes you happy?”, “in what ways has poor mental health affected you in college?”, and “who do you lean on for support?”
