We have all been on Pinterest blissfully looking at perfect baby posed photos. What we aren't seeing is what is happening behind the scenes. A stressed out Mom? Hungry baby? Energetic Siblings? The purpose of lifestyle newborn photography is to embrace the chaos and remove the pressure off of those perfectly posed shots You want to look back at these photos and remember how relaxing, laid back and filled with love that moment was If the baby is hungry, we wait and let you feed them, I can even snap pictures of that moment if you want to capture that bond.
It is important to remember just to BREATHE!! Let's change the perfectly posed mindset because imperfect pictures ARE PERFECT!
Trust me, there will be a day when everyone poses perfectly for the camera and complains while taking three minutes of photographs! You will get those perfectly posed photos in another chapter of your life, so let's embrace this chaotic, messy and beautiful chapter...shall we?!
Lifestyle newborn photography embraces these candid moments because this is real life!
The days are long but the years are short You are exhausted, you can't remember the last time you washed your hair but you are filled with so much love! Capturing these moments will bring you back to these times where you can laugh and smile. So let's prepare for the big day! I provided you with a checklist so you are fully prepared for our fun adventure capturing these precious moments!
Don’t forget to feed your newborn before the session A snack works wonders with siblings too! We all can get a little cranky when we are hangry! If you have other children attending the session, prepare them for the big day by getting them excited about pictures. Do a practice run and role play for fun Also, have clothes laid out and ready to go so you can see how your outfits look together.
If your session is outdoors, bring more than one outfit. Make sure you always have backup clothes just in case And I suggest that you don’t change your newborn into their session clothing until after you have fed them.
The day prior to the session, pack a bag of everything you will need on picture day –pacifiers, diapers, etc and put it somewhere you can grab it and go Be sure to include extra wipes in case things get messy, and other “ emergency ” items, such as baby lotion and snacks for siblings if they are attending
If your session is at home, have everything set aside and ready to go Make sure all the blinds are open to let as much natural light in as possible. Remove as much clutter as you can so the focus point is on your beautiful family
If siblings are joining the session, prepare them ahead of time You can show them my photograph so I am a familiar face. You can also get them super excited to get photographed!

Pick solid colored items that coordinate with your color palette and go from there. In my opinion, neutrals photograph best! Avoid dressing any family members in patterns as it takes away from the main subject, the baby. Think of adding interest to your outfits using textures instead of patterns. Feel free to text me pictures of your outfits so we can plan your shoot.
remember...
Be comfortable. All clothes should fit the way they are most comfortable to you.

The most important thing? Relax Bringing a new baby into the world is tiring and can be very stressful. We are very experienced handling and posing newborns. Your baby is in safe hands! It can sometimes be best if mom steps away if baby is hard to settle. Their little noses know moms scent and it can be hard for them to relax if they want to be in your arms
I understand that this is much easier said than done, but we want this to be a stress-free experience for you and your baby. The calmer you are, the calmer the baby will be
