2022 EMBS Chapter Awards 2022 Outstanding Performance EMBS Chapter

IEEE EMBS Peru As of 2021, the IEEE EMBS Peru Chapter has 154 IEEE EMBS members, of which 72.37% are student members, 13.82% are members, 7.24% are graduate student members, 5.26% are senior members and 0.66% are associate members. We commend IEEE EMBS Peru on their ability to retain members, as they have been able to retain a majority of their members for multiple years.

Over the past year, the IEEE EMBS Peru chapter organized in total: 7 Technical talks and workshops, 1 IEEE EMBS News, 2 Representations at international events, 2

In addition, the chapter manages an account on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube to strengthen a community around EMBS in the country.

One of the impressive achievements of the IEEE EMBS Peru Chapter that should not be overlooked is their attention to member recruitment. These included activities such as Two calls for new members, and a monthly EMBS merchandise raffle among EMBS members.

2022 EMBS Chapter Awards Outstanding Performance EMBS Student Chapter/Club

EMBS UNMSM

(Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos)

The Chapter of Engineering in Medicine and Biology of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (EMBS UNMSM) was approved on March 10, 2015. A new board of directors was formed in 2021 by students of the recently created career of Biomedical Engineering, to oversee the EMBS UNMSM Student Chapter. These dedicated students resumed the activities of the chapter from February of that year along with the support of its advisor M.Sc. Teofilo Huablocho Perez and the guidance of the Student Branch IEEE UNMSM.

Biomedicine for high school students and the I International Congress on Biomedical Engineering - BIOCON. The recognition obtained by EMBS UNMSM in the IEEE Peru Section Recognition Night is highlighted as the First Place in Exemplary Student Chapter and Second Place in the Branding Contest in the Streaming and Design Team categories.

EMBS UNMSM went from having an inactive chapter to being a chapter of great relevance EMBS UNMSM managed to have 25 student in the Section and Region that is aimed to members and 43 non-member collaborators by continue working for the dissemination of the end of 2021. More than 80 activities were Bioengineering. All this as a sign that we are held, including the I International Symposium committed to the development of Biomedical on 3D Bioprinting, Tissue Engineering and Engineering through volunteering at the Biomaterials, the Biomentoring Program, Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, a mentoring program and introduction to Peru and the world.

IEEE Biomedical Engineering Award

Rory Cooper Human Engineering Research Laboratories U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs IEEE Fellow Rory A. Cooper is being recognized for extensive contributions to wheelchair technology that have expanded mobility and reduced secondary injuries for millions of people with disabilities.

Dr. Cooper is the FISA-Foundation and Paralyzed Veterans of America Distinguished Professor and director of the Human Engineering Research Laboratories at the University of Pittsburgh and a senior career scientist with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, also in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the United States.

IEEE Medal for Innovations in Healthcare Technology

James G. Fujimoto Research Laboratory of Electronics Massachusetts Institute of Technology The IEEE Medal for Innovations in Healthcare Technology has been awarded to Professor James G. Fujimoto of the Research Laboratory of Electronics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for pioneering the development and commercialization of optical coherence tomography for medical imaging and diagnostics.
