CARRIE ANDERSON, Central Payments

Carrie Anderson is the HR Manager at Central Payments, an industry leading fintech company. As an HR leader she specializes in fostering people-first cultures and equipping managers to engage their teams in ways that make employees feel heard and valued. With eleven years of HR experience and seven years in communications, PR, and marketing, Carrie brings a unique perspective on connecting people, culture, and strategic vision. She is passionate about building inclusive, welcoming environments where individuals can thrive and communities are strengthened. Outside of work, Carrie enjoys life with her husband Marc, their daughters Vera and Truett, and their Goldendoodle, Ted.

CINDY MONNIN, Friessen Construction Co. Cindy Friessen Monnin grew up in the construction industry, spending Sunday afternoons visiting job sites with her father, Warren Friessen. The Sioux Falls native, who grew up on the city’s west side, graduated from Washington High School and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Economics from Augustana College. In the 1980s she returned to Sioux Falls to work in the family construction business, Friessen Construction Co., Inc. Her commitment to improving the construction industry is evident through service and leadership roles for a variety of organizations, including the Infrastructure Review Advisory Board for the City of Sioux Falls, the Associated General Contractors of South Dakota Board of Directors, the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire Board of Directors and the Southeast Technical College Council.

JADEN MILLER , Verily

Jaden is a marketing professional and consultant in the landscaping industry, where she drives growth through strategic marketing and resource allocation. In recent years, she’s supported Weller Brothers Landscape Professionals in two acquisitions and a market expansion. Beyond business results, she’s championed inclusion for Spanish-speaking employees, is an active mentor through LSS, and is involved in several committees throughout the community and industry. Her leadership combines strategy, empathy, and impact, ensuring success is shared across her team and community.

KATE STOCK, Sanford Health

With 18+ years of leadership experience across higher education, health care and wellness, Kate Stock has dedicated her career to helping people grow, connect and exceed their potential. She spent 15 years in student affairs at South Dakota State University before joining Sanford Health, where she leads a communications team and supports executive leadership with a focus on people-first messaging. A 12-year group fitness and yoga instructor, Kate has impacted the well-being of thousands through movement, motivation and meaningful connection. She teaches a course for the leadership program at the University of Sioux Falls and actively gives back through community volunteering – all while embracing her roles as dog mom, aunt and road tripper.

Katie Hughes is a digital strategy leader who manages over $3M in annual ad spend while mentoring emerging professionals and driving measurable growth for her organization. A champion of equity, she has advocated for parental leave accessibility, mentored women into leadership roles, and connected peers with transformative opportunities. Beyond her career, Katie invests deeply in her community by supporting families in crisis, advancing mental health initiatives, and uplifting women through EmBe’s Women’s Leadership Program. Shaped by her own experiences as a mother, advocate, and mentor, she leads with authenticity, empathy, and a commitment to creating opportunities that empower others.

KRISTIN CATLETT, Glow & Go

Kristin Catlett (she/her) is the Fairy Gay Mother™ behind Glow and Go by Kristin, where she sprinkles sparkle on everyday chaos and helps people reclaim balance, joy, and a little extra glam. A memoirist-in-progress and unapologetically queer sunshine-slinger, Kristin has turned custody battles, self-worth struggles, and past traumas into a powerhouse of resilience and light. She writes and works for the ones who feel “too much” or “not enough,” proving that survival can glow into thriving. Rooted in love for her spouse Jordan, their fur babies, and her chosen community, Kristin is here to remind you: stop shrinking, start sparkling.

LINDSEY MEYERS , Avera Health

Lindsey Meyers, a lifelong South Dakotan, has over two decades of experience in public relations and communications. She has worked at Avera for 18 years. Lindsey currently serves as the Vice President of Public Relations, Communications, and Community Engagement for Avera Health. Lindsey oversees all community partnerships, working with nonprofits that help to extend our Avera mission and ministry through a process that encourages collaboration among the regions to do the most good for our communities. Community partnerships focuses on our social determinants of health such as food insecurity, housing and transportation which are important in our rural footprint. She has two boys and is an avid volunteer.

TITZE, Bridges Consulting

Madeleine Titze is an executive coach and leadership development consultant with Sarah Bridges Consulting, a women-owned and operated consulting firm. In her practice at Bridges, Madeleine supports executive leaders and teams across the nation and helps them bring their best selves to work. She has been an active mentor, facilitator, and program participant in EmBe WLP since 2017 and has relished the opportunity to learn from and with outstanding women across Sioux Falls. She is also a board member for the Friends of the Big Sioux River. Outside of work, Madeleine loves spending time with her family and also dances professionally with the LiRa Dance Theatre Company.

MARIAH BRUNZ PARKER, Farm Fresh Content, Business Woman Sioux Falls

Mariah Brunz Parker’s ultimate mission is to elevate women - especially entrepreneurs and business leaders - by helping them rise beyond barriers, defy the status quo, and dismantle glass ceilings. She is the founder of Business Woman Sioux Falls, where she leads a thriving community of nearly 3,000 women built on collaboration and support. Mariah runs Farm Fresh Content, a branding and marketing business where she uses her signature Brand Therapy process to help businesses uncover the heart of their brand identity and present it with clarity and impact. Through these ventures, Mariah coaches women in business and life synergy, leadership, and community connection, guiding them to expand themselves and step fully into their power.

MARY CAMPBELL, The Breaks Coffee Roasting Co. Mary Campbell co-owns and operates The Breaks Coffee Roasting Co. in beautiful downtown Sioux Falls. She earned a BA in Social Sciences from the University of Sioux Falls and an MA in English from the University of South Dakota, did some time in both social work and education-related fields and feels this background created the perfect storm for the inception of The Breaks. The Breaks has afforded Mary the opportunity to further develop her other interests serving on the board of directors for the Sioux Falls Food Co-op and working as an on-call English instructor for Lutheran Social Services’ Center for New Americans, facilitating a CO.STARTERS business accelerator program through Startup Sioux Falls with them as well. Originally hailing from Northern California, then living in a few other locations, Mary usually just says she’s from Sioux Falls because Sioux Falls feels like home.

MEL GUSE , Gist Wine Shop

Sioux Falls native, Mel Guse, discovered her passion for wine while working in PR in San Francisco. She earned the highest level of certification through the International Sommelier Guild (ISG) and co-led wine buying at Bi-Rite Market, where she developed a love for natural and biodynamic wines. In 2014, she and her sister opened GYST Fermentation Bar in Minneapolis, named one of Esquire’s “Best Bars in America” in 2018. Back home since 2021, Mel now runs Gist Wine Shop, focusing on natural wine, education, and community. She’s also a proud mom to her daughter, Sophie and pup, Wally.

TEISHA UPWARD,

JD’s House of Trophies

Teisha Upward is the Production Director at JD’s House of Trophies in Sioux Falls. With 20+ years of experience, she mastered all aspects of production before moving into leadership. She modernized operations, introduced new systems & equipment, and helped grow sales by over 50% in 3 years. In 2024, she completed her industry training, becoming South Dakota’s only Certified Recognition Specialist. Teisha also leads community sponsorships and volunteer efforts for her team. Her greatest pride is her three children, Aidan, Teagan, & Cael. They are her biggest supporters who often worked alongside her in the shop.

TRISHA DOHN, Well365

Trisha Dohn is the Founder & CEO of Well365, a corporate wellness and mental health company helping organizations build healthier, more engaged workplaces. Nearly a decade ago, she recognized a gap in how businesses approached wellbeing and mental health and launched Well365 to deliver customized, holistic solutions ranging from proactive wellness initiatives to mental health counseling and crisis support. Under her leadership, Well365 has expanded across multiple states, impacting thousands of individuals each year. Trisha is passionate about creating cultures where employees feel supported personally and professionally, and her vision continues to drive meaningful change in workplace wellbeing.

WENDY DOOLEY, Sanford Health

Wendy has spent her entire professional career in Sioux Falls. Beginning in advertising sales with the Argus Leader, followed by more than a decade in higher education, and most recently in marketing roles in the nonprofit and healthcare sectors. She is deeply committed to building relationships, connection and fostering community. In her current role of Marketing Business Partner with Sanford Health, she’s found her place working for an organization dedicated to the care, comfort and cure of each patient. Wendy is married to her wonderful husband, Rodger. Together they have 3 children – Ethan, Sawyer and Rylan.

AMY CARTER , Helpline Center

Amy Carter is a dedicated servant leader with 27 years in the social services field. A graduate of South Dakota State University, her career spans early childhood education, national health organizations, domestic violence prevention, and suicide and crisis intervention services. For 15 years, Amy served as the Director of the Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety, where she oversaw significant programmatic growth and a major facility expansion. Since 2024, she has been the Chief Operating Officer of the Helpline Center. Amy is a graduate of Leadership Sioux Falls, a law enforcement trainer with the South Dakota Network Against Family Violence & Sexual Assault, and an appointed member of the Interstate Commission for Juveniles.

ANGELA KENNECKE, Emily’s Hope

Angela Kennecke is a veteran investigative journalist whose mission to end the stigma of addiction became deeply personal after losing her 21-year-old daughter, Emily, to fentanyl poisoning. She founded Emily’s Hope, a nonprofit providing treatment scholarships, free statewide naloxone distribution, and a Post-Overdose Response Team. Angela launched a Youth Prevention Coalition and co-developed a K-12 prevention curriculum, authoring nine children’s books, and has educated tens of thousands of teens on the dangers of fentanyl. She also hosts the national podcast Grieving Out Loud, leads support groups for families, advocates nationally for change, and is a South Dakota Hall of Fame inductee and Emmy award-winning journalist.

CHRISTINE HALLENBECK ASK, Sanford Health

Christy Hallenbeck Ask serves Sanford Health as a Health Equity and Experience Advisor and as a chaplain. She considers both of her roles to be forms of advocacy for the dignity and humanity of all patients—at the bedside as a chaplain and more broadly, population-wide, as an equity advisor. She has previously served as director of mission integration for the Good Samaritan Society; as a parish pastor at a Lutheran church in Sioux Falls; and in various capacities at a refugee resettlement agency and hunger relief organization in the Twin Cities. She is a graduate of Augustana University and Luther Seminary. Christy’s proudest achievements are giving birth twice and walking 500 miles across Spain once.

ERINN WILLIAMS, The Beauty Room

Erinn was raised in Minnesota and relocated to South Dakota over 20 years ago. She co-owns a salon with her best friend and is lucky to love to go to work every day. Erinn began her adventure in community service and politics with a special interest in helping women and families to be safe and secure. She started a neighborhood fundraiser centered around holiday lights to benefit local charities and give families a hand up. She helped start a grassroots movement for advancement of reproductive health and education, and is now planning a run for office in 2026. Erinn lives in Sioux Falls with her husband Caleb and children Lila and Lucas.

KATE FEILMEIER , Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety

Kate Feilmeier is a dedicated leader and fierce advocate for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. As Program Director at the Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety and Bright Start, she leads inclusive, trauma-informed services that empower individuals and families. With over a decade of experience in crisis intervention and community outreach, Kate also chairs the Minnehaha County Family Violence Council and serves on multiple community response teams. Her leadership, courage, and commitment to equity continue to drive meaningful, lasting change.

NICOLE HOFER, Sleep In Heavenly Peace

Nicole Hofer serves as the President of the Sioux Falls chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), a national non-profit organization that fundraises, builds, and delivers beds to children in need. Nicole felt called to re-open the Sioux Falls chapter during the summer of 2024 after learning the local chapter had closed. Under her leadership, SHP and scores of volunteers have built and delivered over 635 beds for children in our community. As a 100% volunteer run and donation funded chapter, Nicole leads with a servant heart and love for others. This passion has galvanized the support of hundreds of donors and volunteers in Sioux Falls and surrounding communities to further the mission of SHP: “No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town!”

RHONDA ERICKSON, Midco

As Senior Community Relations Manager and Executive Director of the Midco Foundation, Rhonda Erickson leads Midco’s community engagement efforts, including events, sponsorships, volunteerism, and grantmaking. Her leadership ensures Midco’s commitment to being a force for good is deeply woven into its culture. Since joining Midco in 1995 as a Marketing Assistant, Rhonda has advanced through several roles, including Marketing Manager. Before Midco, she worked at the Bank of New York Credit Card Bank. Outside of work, she serves as Vice President of the Hartford Chamber of Commerce and enjoys reading, spending time with her family—including three grandchildren—and knitting hats for cancer patients.

TAMERA JERKE-LIESINGER, The Banquet

Tamera is a Sioux Falls native who graduated from USD. In 1995, she started her career at Lifescape. There, she was part of helping people with developmental disabilities achieve their life goals. In 2008, she became the Executive Director of The Banquet. It was the biggest undertaking of her life. Guests come to The Banquet to not only have their bodies fed but also their souls. This food and fellowship are the result of the selfless efforts of hundreds of volunteers. Because of the community support for The Banquet, it has grown from 9 meals a week in 2008, to 16 meals a week. In 2020, The Banquet started serving at a second location in northwest Sioux Falls. Tamera has been honored to be part of The Banquet ministry.

TAMMIE DENNING ,

Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership

For more than 25 years, Tammie Denning, has devoted her career to helping people see the best in themselves and believe in their potential. As Community Services Director at Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership and Executive Director of the South Dakota Community Action Association, she leads with heart, serving low-income families and senior citizens across 14 counties. Beyond her professional life, family is at the heart of everything she does. She and her husband, Ward, are proud to call Lennox home, where they raised their four children— Hannah, Cole, Olivia, and Alexandra—alongside their loyal dog, Murphy. With three children now graduated and one still at home, she treasures both the challenges and the joys of motherhood.

TANA ZWART, Community Advocate

Tana is a self-employed Media Manager with a passion for nonprofits, the arts and the community. She is chair of the Disability Awareness and Accessibility Review Board for the City of Sioux Falls, Lead of the ADA Sioux Falls Committee, Rare by Design board member, active on various other state and local boards and committees, as well as former National Ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. As a woman with a disability, and as an advocate, she strives to see more authentic representation and inclusion in our local communities, as well as equal access to opportunities.

ALYSSA KLAUDT, Lifescape

Alyssa Klaudt is a passionate educator dedicated to transforming the lives of students with significant behavioral and cognitive needs. She holds a double major in Elementary and Special Education and a Master’s in Curriculum & Instruction. As a Teacher at LifeScape, Alyssa leads a self-contained classroom where she creates individualized learning plans, develops trauma-informed behavior systems and practice, and mentors teaching assistants to deliver compassionate, consistent support. She is committed to building strong partnerships with families and shaping inclusive practices that ensure every student has the chance to thrive. Her leadership, innovation, and heart for education continue to inspire both her colleagues and the community.

ANGELA DRAKE, Two Men and a Truck, Two Men and a Junk Truck, Fight Like a Ninja Angela Drake is a Sioux Falls powHERhouse, building people and real change. She runs TWO MEN AND A TRUCK and TWO MEN AND A JUNK TRUCK, growing jobs, coaching leaders, and keeping usable stuff out of the landfill. She founded Fight Like A Ninja in honor of her daughter Brittany, turning heartbreak into HOPE through mental health education, survivor support, Caring Companion programs, and scholarships. In her Wonder Woman Cave she hosts connection parties that spark collaborations and joy. She leads Movers for Moms for Dress for Success, serves on local boards, rallies partners, and hands the mic to new voices. Proud Wonder Woman energy, zero capes.

ANNA FISCHER , S outheast Technical College

Anna Fischer is the Pre-College Program Advisor at Southeast Technical College, where she has served for 20 years. A graduate of SDSU, she holds both a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a master’s degree in school counseling. Passionate about student success, she works with high school students in dual and concurrent enrollment programs, partnering with many programs such as Avera Academy and Sanford Classroom to Careers. By fostering close relationships with school counselors and facilitating career exploration initiatives, she helps students make informed decisions about their futures. Outside of work, she enjoys family time and is a proud mother of two daughters, who are paving the way for future generations of young girls.

ANNA JANKORD, Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce

Anna Jankord is a connector at heart—someone who thrives when she’s building people up, across boundaries, and into their full potential. With nearly 15 years of experience in leadership education and talent development, Anna currently serves as the Vice President of Member Relations at the Great Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce. Anna is an active community leader, currently serving on the Sioux Empire United Way Board and chairing the Volunteer United Program. SHANNON EMRY MD, Midwest Street Medicine

Dr. Shannon Emry is a pediatrician and Clinical Professor at USD Sanford School of Medicine, where she has trained students and residents while practicing with Avera Medical Group for 18 years. She earned her medical degree from the Uniformed Services University in 1997 and served as a pediatrician in the U.S. Air Force before returning to South Dakota. In 2023, she founded Midwest Street Medicine, a volunteer-driven nonprofit dedicated to improving health for people experiencing homelessness. Dr. Emry leads the medical team as the organization works to close gaps in health care and expand access to low-barrier addiction and mental health treatment for our most vulnerable neighbors.

Tracy Salameh was raised in southwest Minnesota and spent her career in the Midwest. She worked as a nurse case manager for the Ryan White Program through the City of Sioux Falls for 13 years. Her work consisted of comprehensive care to underserved populations and HIV advocacy. She provided area HIV education and training to generate awareness, education, and inclusiveness within the community. She has been a nurse practitioner at the Veteran Administration Sioux Falls Health Care System since 2019. It has been an honor for Tracy to care for our veterans. From outreach opportunities in the community to growing the women’s health program, Tracy has enjoyed learning and understanding some of the unique needs of our military veterans. She enjoys spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Danette Dyer graduated from Kansas State University with her degree in elementary education and has taught in Kansas, Texas, and South Dakota. Her priority on community and family, led Danette to create Family Fun Days. Andrea (Ande) Carlson is a wife, mom, musician, teacher, and registered nurse from Sioux Falls. She serves as principal horn in the Sioux City Symphony and fourth horn in the South Dakota Symphony, where she has performed since 1992—making her one of its longest-tenured musicians. Ande teaches horn at Augustana University, Dordt College, and Northwestern College in addition to her thriving private studio. Though she studied nursing at Augustana and worked as an RN at Mayo and Sanford, music refused to stay a hobby. “There are so many life lessons you can teach beyond the horn - self-expression, work ethic, passion, perseverance. These are the values I try to teach - I want to equip my students with skills for music and life.”

Anna Hudelson has dedicated her career to encouraging creativity and expression through art for all ages and abilities. For 12 years, Anna designed and instructed art classes at Mosaic, formerly Museum of Visual Materials, for students as young as two years old up to elderly adults. Anna loves to see her students put their individuality into their projects. She also regularly teaches classes for adults and young adults with disabilities. Every student in Anna’s classroom feels welcomed and many enter with their arms wide for a hug. During her time at Mosaic, she has grown the art program to almost 4,000 students per year. Anna grew up in Harrisburg, SD and has a Fine Arts degree and K-12 teaching certification from the University of South Dakota.

She also cofounded the Rise Up Artist Mentorship Program. Sara also helps build new client relationships, leads agency initiatives like L&S Studio, and shares her expertise at thought leadership events across the state. Beyond the office, she’s deeply committed to the community, volunteering with Junior Achievement, Sioux Empire United Way, and serving on the Augustana Alumni Council. Known as the girl who does it all, Sara is celebrated for her positivity, consistency, and accountability.

SARAH SIEMONSMA, Avera Health

Sarah began her career serving patients as a radiologic technologist and her love for education led her to transition into teaching radiology students. In her current role, she focuses on workforce development and career planning initiatives, guiding employees, future employees, and students to discover their place in healthcare. She also leads the Avera Academy program and assist these Sioux Falls Public School students throughout their senior year of high school, showcasing healthcare careers, removing barriers, and providing mentorship. She is dedicated to helping individuals find meaningful paths by offering resources, support, a smile, and a helping hand. Her joy comes from watching others grow, succeed, and reach their goals.

YOUNG WOMAN OF ACHIEVEMENT

SHELBI BACKHAUS, Backhaus Excavation & Underground, LLC

With a heart for service, Shelbi Backhaus balances her career as a registered nurse and owner of Backhaus Excavation with a deep commitment to her community. She has led Girl Scouts for 4 years, coordinates events for the service unit, and champions women’s equality in construction through NAWIC #237. She serves on the executive leadership team for Go Red for Women, as President of the Tea Area Parent Teacher Organization, and as treasurer of the ACE Booster Club. Shelbi also helped launch multiple Tea traditions such as the Parade of Lights and Saturday in the Park. Honored as the City of Tea’s Outstanding Community Member of the Year and NAWIC #237’s Member of the Year, she continues to make a lasting impact.
