ROUTES TO SUCCESS AT EMANUEL

STEPPING ON LOWER SCHOOL

STEPPING UP MIDDLE SCHOOL

Pupils benefit from an immensely wide range of enrichment opportunities beyond the curriculum, open to all at every stage of school life. We guide them along inspiring and enjoyable academic routes.

Those who take full advantage will be stretched and supported in fulfilling academic aspirations, developing intellectual skills and independence of thought.

The journey starts with seeing, hearing and experiencing as much as possible to allow pupils to discover what their interests are.

We focus on three growth areas:

Subject development – skill development – personal development

• Academic co-curricular clubs and societies offer chances for pupils to extend themselves, organize activities and collaborate with peers. (See reverse for full list)

• Lower School Expo encourages open-minded and cross-curricular thinking.

• Inspired Learners Award celebrates curiosity, creativity and commitment.

“EMANUEL IS FLYING HIGH. A HISTORIC SCHOOL WITH DESIGNS ON THE FUTURE, IT’S A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH ON LONDON’S HIGHLY COMPETITIVE DAY-SCHOOL SCENE.” - TALK EDUCATION

• This is a phase of transition, deepening knowledge and thinking ahead to future study and careers.

• More sixth form activities are open to ambitious Year 10-11 pupils. These include Ancient Greek Club, Athena Society, MFL Film Club and Law Society. Along with the Senior Expo, these involve discussions, debates and subject mastery.

• Year 11 Stretch club pupils choose an A Level subject and start early to develop their knowledge. Selecting a topic, they define a question and conduct research for their mini project, using the Oxford University research website Oxplore.

STEPPING FURTHER SIXTH FORM

“THE EMANUEL OF THE PRESENT IS AN ASTONISHING EVOLUTION OF THE EMANUEL OF THE PAST. RESULTS HAVE IMPROVED

EXPONENTIALLY, WITH CONSEQUENT RISE UP LEAGUE TABLES.”

- THE GOOD SCHOOLS GUIDE

Students are now specialising and developing independence. We offer highly personalised support to further career and higher education ambitions.

The sixth form team is as ambitious for their cohort as the students themselves. They encourage and support applications to the most competitive courses and universities including Oxford, Cambridge, Russell Group, top UK and North American universities. As a creative school our vision encompasses Art Foundation courses, Drama schools and conservatoires.

• Oxbridge Mentoring: an outstanding programme of rigorous weekly preparation, with support from external providers, to prepare candidates for admissions interviews.

• Mathematician-in-residence Art Mountain leads interview practice across MAT (Oxford), PAT (Oxford) and TMUA (Cambridge).

• Subject expert advice: guest speakers, careers conventions and careers mixers.

• Meticulous personal statement supervision each one reviewed by at least three staff.

• Degree Apprenticeships specific advice and application support. Entrepreneur events to build collaborative and business skills.
