ELSA Spain hereby presents its newest project, the ELSA Spain brand, whose aim is to offer the ELSA network the posibilities of having Study Visits or other kind of activities/colaborations with our more than 22 local groups. This brochure is divided in different sections: firstly a brief presentation of ELSA Spain and its network. Secondly, a overview of all the cities of Spain which have a local group. Thirdly, an schema of the most important institutions or activities of every city. Finally we provide a brief introduction to every local group and its contact details.

ELSA SPAIN Who we are

ELSA Spain was founded in 1988 by two law students from Valencia who discovered ELSA during their when they were studying abroad in Germany. Nowadays, ELSA Spain is one of the biggest National Groups with more than 22 local groups located in different law faculties along Spain like Alicante, Barcelona, Bilbao, Castellón, Madrid, San Sebastián, Salamanca, Santiago de Compostela, Valencia and Valladolid.

Spain, is one of the most visited countries in the world after United States. Internationally known by its cultural atractiveness, historical past, monuments, museums, beaches, weather, Mediterranean food and social life, Spain is a country full of spirit which ensures a great experience to every visitant. Furthermore, there are direct and low cost flights that connect the main cities of Spain to almost every city of Europe. Train railways and buses connects every city inside the country . ELSA Spain is one of the National Groups of ELSA with more potential, the number of law faculties rise to 70, which means that there are almost 70 potential local groups in our country. Nowadays we are almost 22 Local Groups, located in several cities of the country, specially in Madrid where are located 9 local groups. ELSA Spain Brand is the project created by ELSA Spain National Board 2017/2018. It is the result of the collaboration of many areas of ELSA specially BEE, Marketing and Seminars&Conferences. To develop the ELSA Spain Brand means also the aim of unity and promotion within the whole spanish netowrk by showing our potential and our recent growth to all the national and local groups of ELSA. We are herein glady presenting the different local groups of ELSA Spain, their history, activity and of contact details in order to reach them.

Local Groups | ELSA Alicante ELSA Alicante is a relatively recent Local Group that is consolidating little by little from its foundation. It is established in a university city called San Vicente del Raspeig where the slender campus of the University of Alicante is located. In addition, the Faculty of Law is one of the most respected and recognized in the Costa Blanca region. The trajectory of the Local Group is highly focused on the future because some projects are being prepared which will offer an improvement in the development of legal English and strengthen ties through the forthcoming planned bilateral Study Visits.

Local Groups | ELSA Barcelona-UB ELSA Barcelona -UB is one of the two local groups of the province of Barcelona. It is established in the Faculty of Law of the Universitat de Barcelona, one of the most important universities of Spain. ELSA Barcelona. UB has known how to take advantage of this context and has cooperated several times with ELSA Barcelona-UB, organizing multiple study visits and events, and facilitating the exchange of legal information among law students. In addition, among its members is the Director for International Relations of ELSA Spain, Karim Kanfash Akkach, fact that allows giving great visibility to our entity at a national level, furthermore, two members of the current national board of ELSA Spain, Maribel Martín Herrero and Patrícia Ferré Bernabé, come from this local group.

Local Groups | ELSA Barcelona-UPF ELSA Barcelona-UPF was born three years ago in the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, located in the city of Barcelona. Although our few years of existence, ELSA Barcelona-UPF has become one of the most actives groups of the network. On a local level, this year we have organised our first moot court competition with Baker Mckenzie, the EBMCC (ELSA Barcelona Moot Court Competition), and a fairy tale moot court on game of thrones is being organised to be celebrated in the following months. Last summer around 15 of our members attended different Summer ELSA Law Schools. Moreover, we have had participants in every ELSA Delegations period. On the other hand, the STEP Program has also been attended by our current president and just a few months ago we created a new STEP in Barcelona with a local firm. Regarding our experience in Institutional Visits, this year we have organized the first one to Brussels.

In Castellón everything is close, and surrounded by the smell of oranges. The city, which is the capital of the region of La Plana Alta, still retains that calm and friendly character from the humble old towns. The weather is usually excellent. The life inside the city centre is completely Mediterranean: charm, friendly and warm. The old town, where you can still see Roman camps ruins, has the most significant monuments of Castellón and, between the old city and the sea, is located the Grao district, the most alive quartier of the city. The urban set of Castellón can only be understood if one considers the modern, internationalist mentality of its citizens.

Local Groups | ELSA Complutense ELSA Complutense was founded in October 2013 and is based on the Faculty of law of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid exactly in the center of the city, a public institution of highest education based on the scholar method of exposition and debate, which offers multiple opportunities to get involved in cultural activities. ELSA Complutense has known how to take advantage of Madrid and all the opportunities that Madrid and its Faculty of Law provides to organize activities and several events. We organize several Instituitonal Visits to all the variety of institutions that are located in Madrid (for instance to the Supreme Court of Spain and our Spanish Parliament Chambers: the Congress of Deputies and the Senate) conferences, Moot Courts and much more. Likewise we organized an Institutional Visit to Strasbourg in March 2016, where we could visit the European Parliament.

Local Groups | ELSA CEU ELSA CEU is one of the local groups in Madrid, founded at the end of 2013, established in the Faculty of Law at University â&#x20AC;&#x153;San Pablo CEUâ&#x20AC;? located in the centre of the city of Madrid. We colaborated on the organization of the Supporting Area Meeting in Madrid 2014 We have organised different Institutional Visits and activities every year. This term we organized first an Institutional Visit to Budapest in 2017 and another to Berlin in 2018, taking into consideration the importance of keeping in touch with other Local Groups not only in Spain but also at an International level. On the other hand, every summer a great number of our members apply for the Summer ELSA Law Schools and of course, throughout the year, we have several applicants to diverse ELSA Delegations. Furthermore, activities such as the STEP programme or the ELSA Spain Law Review are of great interest to our members.

Local Groups | ELSA Madrid-CUNEF ELSA Madrid-CUNEF is one of the youngest local groups in ELSA Spain with only three years of history. Despite we are a young group, we have more than 100 members, being one of the biggest local groups of the network. ELSA Madrid-CUNEF is established in the faculty of Economics and Law of the Colegio Universitario de Estudios Financieros (CUNEF) University, located in the biggest university campus in Madrid. Since our creation, we have organized many institutional visit to different Spanish Institutions (as the Constitutional Court, Spanish Parlament, Supremme Courtâ&#x20AC;Ś) and also visits to the most important Spanish law firms. One of our main goals is to organize international activities like Study Visits and to increase the participation of our members in national and international projects in order to gain experience and visibility.

Local Groups | ELSA Madrid-CUV ELSA Madrid-CUV is a young local group which was founded by students from Centro Universitario Villanueva, established in the Faculty of Law of our university, located in the center of Madrid. Our members have participated in different ELSA Delegations and Summer ELSA Law Schools as well as other Study Visit organized by other universities of Madrid. This year we have organized, with success, our first Study Visit to ELSA-UCP Porto; and this experience has left us wanting for more. Due to our short story as a local group we havenÂ´t organized any National Council Meeting, but thanks to our motivation for participating from the beginning in ELSA activities, we collaborated with ELSA Madrid-ICADE in the organization of the 41st NCM in Madrd. In 2015 ELSA Madrid-CUV hosted the Extraordinary National Council Meeting of ELSA Spain.

Local Groups | ELSA Madrid-ICADE ELSA Madrid-ICADE is one of the oldest local groups in ELSA Spain with more than a decade of trajectory. It is established in the Faculty of Law of the Pontifical University of Comillas-ICADE, located in the middle of the city of Madrid. We host the 41st National Council Meeting of ELSA Spain in March 2016. This Local Group is incredibly active regarding international activities, its members have participated for many years in the EHRMCC obtaining the 3rd position in 2015 and the 8th in 2016. Every summer more than 30 members are selected to attend different Summer ELSA Law Schools. Moreover, we have successfully participants in ELSA Delegations, or the STEP. Regarding our experience in Study Visits, we have organized since our creation different bilateral and multilateral SV, like ELSA DĂźsseldorf 2014, ELSA Bologna in 2015, ELSA Oslo in 2016, ELSA Tbilisi, ELSA Thessaloniki in 2016, ELSA Warsaw and ELSA Poznan in 2017...

Local Groups | ELSA Madrid-UAM ELSA Madrid- UAM was created five years ago, when a student went abroad and discover ELSA in Rennes, France. Our Local Group is established at the Faculty of Law of Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, located in a big campus at the outskirts of the Madrid. This Local Group is highly interested in international activities, and one of the greatest national projects: ELSA Spain Law Review. Among these activities, our greatest success are Summer ELSA Law Schools, for which most of our members apply. For the past years, up to fifteen members of ELSA Madrid- UAM were selected to participate in SELS, where they get a deep knowledge on specific areas such as Corporative Law, Intellectual Property Law or International Relations. In addition to these activities, we had board members actually working and sending several contributions to the ELSA Spain Law Review. Furthermore we worked together with three more local groups of Madrid on organizing a Study Visit with ELSA Düsseldorf in 2014.

Local Groups | ELSA Madrid-URJC ELSA Madrid-URJC was established last January 21 2017, in the â&#x20AC;&#x153;Universidad Rey Juan Carlosâ&#x20AC;? of Madrid. we are probably one of the newest local groups of the network and this is the reason why we are not still not famous as other local groups in the international and national level. However, in just few months, our group experienced a fast growth recruiting lot of members and rising more than one hundred. Our University has five campus which means the number of potential members is astonishing, as we have lot of students. During this year we have organized a large number of projects and activities in order to maintain our members motivated and to help them to improve their legal and professional skills and be in the future, the best law professionals. For example, we organized a local moot court competition, several institutional visits (in January 2018 we organized one Institutional Visit to Brussels), conferences and lectures. We are always looking for new exciting activities to organise and we are known for our motivation and participation in all the national events.

Local Groups | ELSA Salamanca ELSA Salamanca is the ELSA local group of ELSA Spain established in the Faculty of Law of the University of Salamanca, being the only ELSA local group in the city. The members of our local group are very active regarding ELSA activities, since several of them have attended or intend to attend to Summer ELSA Law Schools and they have been granted the opportunity to learn in STEP Traineeships, participate in ELSA Delegations, Institutional Visits and Study Visits as well. Moreover, some of the members of the current National Board and ELSA Spain Team come from our local group. We held the 44th National Council Meeting of ELSA Spain in November 2017. We have been working since the beginning to raise awareness among our students at the University of Salamanca on how important ELSA can be to our future by organizing Conferences with experts on different fields of Law and Institutional Visits, closing agreements with private enterprises, being part of Moot Courts etcetera.

Local Groups | ELSA Santiago de Compostela ELSA Santiago de Compostela is established in the Faculty of Law of the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, a public institution of highest education with a double campus (Santiago de Compostela and Lugo) that facilitates synergies among the youth of the region, located in the middle of the city of Santiago. Likewise, we hosted the 42nd National Council Meeting of ELSA Spain in November 2016. Our local group has known how to take advantage of this context as one of the most important university cities in Spain to create activities, organize events and facilitate the exchange of legal information among law students of the USC. In addition, among its officers is the Director for S&C of ELSA Spain, as well as our Vice President of Academic Activities managed to get Luz Ruibal, renowned professor of the USC, as a member of the Academic Council for the ESLR, facts that allow to give great visibility to our entity at a national level.

Local Groups | ELSA Valencia-UCV ELSA Valencia-UCV is a local group established on the “Universidad Católica de Valencia”. Although we were created almost two years ago, our local group has an incredible support from our partners and University. On the other hand, during our young career, we have organized several activities such as: visits to law firms, notaries, prisons, etc. In addition, we are already famous in the UCV by our Debate Competitions, and Public Speaking courses. We also organized conferences with famous lectures including “Margaritis Schinas”, spokesperson from the EC, as an example of the collaboration between UCV and ELSA Valencia-UCV. As a conclusion, ELSA Valencia-UCV is shown as a young association with young and motivated students with a goal to satisfy and awake interest in law and the mottos of our association: a just world in which there is respect for Human Dignity and Cultural Diversity.

Local Groups | ELSA Valencia-UV ELSA Valencia-UV is the oldest local group of ELSA Spain, and the founder of its beloved National Group in 1987, when a Erasmus student discover this association and deiced to found ELSA SPAIN in Valencia. It is established in the Faculty of Law of Valencia University. It is based on the Faculty of Law of the prestigious Universitat de ValĂ¨ncia-UV, and hosted the 2nd National Council Meeting of ELSA Spain in April 2018. Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s one of the most active local groups in ELSA Spain, as we organize approximately one conference per month and, at least, a study visit per year. Due to that, we are quite experienced organizing Study Visits: During the last years, we went to London and Edinburgh in 2015, to Malta in 2016, we hosted ELSA Konstanz in Valencia in 2017 and we are organizing a bilateral study visit with ELSA Bologna in 2018.

Valladolid is the biggest city on Castilla y León.Located in the center of the Autonomic Comunity, this city has 300.000 habitants. Valladolid is a city with a great historical past and legacy, it was the capital of Spain during the 13th and 14th centuries, and there the first kings of Spain resided, therefore it has many monuments to visti from that period of time.

Local Groups | ELSA Valladolid ELSA Valladolid is one of the oldest groups of ELSA Spain with more than 15 years of trajectory. It is a well-known and established association in the Faculty of Law of the Universidad de Valladolid, where it has its office. ELSA Valladolid hosted the 40th National Council Meeting in 2015 As a local group, ELSA Valladolid focuses mainly on organizing activities for Law students in order to develop their legal skills and pursue their professional career, such as conferences, debate competitionsâ&#x20AC;Ś ELSA Valladolid is also well known in ELSA Spain due to its very own digital newspaper, which has 11 official numbers up to date. Several of its members have also recently participated in the ELSA Spain Moot Court Competition or in the STEP programs.
