Continuing the groundbreaking journey of the “Prehistoric Planet” natural history series, this five-episode adventure transports viewers far into the past. “Blending cinematic storytelling with photorealistic visual effects,” the streamer explains, “the series brings ancient worlds to life, offering a firsthand look at some of the most extraordinary creatures ever to walk the Earth.”
Narrated by Golden Globe-winner Tom Hiddleston (“The Life of Chuck,” 2024), the third season enters “a dramatic new era of prehistoric life, millions of years after the extinction of the dinosaurs” (per Apple TV). Produced by BBC Studios Natural History Unit — the world-renowned team behind “Planet Earth” — this prehistoric adventure features photorealistic visual effects courtesy of Framestore, and an original score by Hans Zimmer (“Inception,” 2010). ‘When Harry Met Sally ... ,’ a comedy classic was born
Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan reprised an iconic dining scene from “When Harry Met Sally ... “ in a commercial not that long ago, indicating the enduring popularity of the 1989 comedy that Flix shows Wednesday, Nov. 26. Director Rob Reiner and writer Nora Ephron gave the two stars the means for terrific teamwork as two people who initially don’t get along when they share a post-college ride to New York, and their interaction isn’t much better when they reconnect on a flight several years later. However, they’ve mellowed a bit when they cross each other’s paths yet again, and they agree to a friendship that begins to develop into more ... but Harry’s relationship fears may thwart the situation for good. The movie has some legendary dialogue, with arguably the most famous line delivered by Reiner’s mother Estelle as a delicatessen patron. Carrie Fisher and Bruno Kirby also appear in the film, which remains one of the most beloved comedic love stories yet made, underscored by a soundtrack that features many well-known song standards.
“Xena: Warrior Princess” (Comet, weekdays): Lucy Lawless became a major international star by playing the title role in this spinoff of “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys,” on which she first appeared as the Amazonian heroine who puts up quite a fight for those who need defending. Co-star Renee O’Connor also gained popularity as Xena’s ally Gabrielle. What’s particularly impressive about the show is that it earned its success during its original 1995-2001 run in American syndication, when that market was still in its relative infancy in terms of sustaining dramatic series.
