Recent Event Sabbath School Promotion What joy was in the house of the Lord on Saturday afternoon, June 26! As our children grow physically and mentally, they also grow spiritually and their spiritual needs change. Our Sabbath School lessons are designed to take our children on a life journey that lays a foundation of not only knowledge about God and His Word, but also to help them establish a relationship with Him that is dynamic and vibrant throughout their ever growing and changing lives. With this in mind, we celebrated the moving of some of our children from their current Sabbath School class to the next one.

This quick, one-hour drive-thru was filled with joy as we were able to see our kids and their parents. Our very dedicated Sabbath School teachers and assistants prepared gifts, balloons and even strawberry shortcake for the celebration. Each child being promoted was greeted by their current teacher and then introduced to their new teacher. It was so great to see everyone and come together as families who are growing children for Christ!

Guess Who’s Coming to Lunch Ellicott City Church recently held its first Guess Who s Coming to Lunch event. This event was anticipated for weeks, while members could sign up to be a host/hostess family or sign up as guests. After three weeks, we had six host/hostess families and twenty-one guests. It was great to see so many ECC members willing to open their homes and offer the gift of hospitality! We ve introduced this initiative in Portland, OR, and Atlanta, GA, and this is the first church where we ve had more people willing to share their food with other members and visitors. The idea behind this initiative is to help mix the membership so church members get to know people they may not have met yet. Sitting down to share a family-style meal and conversation helps build friendships and is a fun opportunity to strengthen church family bonds and create new ones.

This time ECC was blessed to have quite a number of visitors! Maybe next time we will have even more host/hostess families and guests sign up!

Neediest Kids Projec Ellicott City Church was one of nine churches chosen to be a clothing giveaway location on June 27, 2021 for The Neediest Kids Project in Howard County, which partners with stores and schools to provide assistance to families affected by poverty on an ongoing basis.

With only seven days notice, we had a quick turnaround of willing volunteers. A volunteer from the Ellicott City St. John s Episcopal Church boxed items. Jim and his nephews picked up the pallets of boxes and unloaded them with the help of other ECC volunteers. Another team set up tables, neatly organized the items, and directed traffic during the event on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. Amanda Bradford led the team of church volunteers for this event and guided the ninety-nine community participants who were served.

The Adventist Community Services team thanks all those who volunteered to make this last-minute event possible. The pandemic has taught us that a village and lots of prayer to accomplish our church community service. We learned a lot from this event and hope that our church will be selected to continue to participate in this project.
