It’s gonna be a great year. I welcome you to the chair of the Exalted Ruler whose mo o is Fidelity. I’ve had a hard me wri ng this month’s ar cle, as I really want to just scream about the nega vity floa ng around our Lodge. I don’t want to harp on this, but it really needs to stop. Yes it has been there forever; but somewhere in the back of my mind I thought Patrick and I could tone it down. Patrick did everything he could to add some life to our mee ngs and events. I’ll never forget the night he did the en re mee ng as Elroy. It was this kind of enthusiasm that I figured I could con nue and make our mee ngs and Lodge a fun place to hang out with friends. But Nooo! Members feel the need to bash each other and the lodge. I just want each and every one of you to take a look at your a tudes, ac ons and the comments you make while at the Lodge; if you are in this category; Stop. I said in my May ar cle, I wanted to hear your sugges ons for ways to make OUR Lodge a be er place. Thank you to those I heard from. I also said that if you come to me with a complaint, also come with a sugges on for a solu on. Unfortunately, this was a new concept for some of you, and you s ll feel the need to complain for the sake of complaining. I am sorry if you thought I was kidding, I do that a lot, but because you didn’t supply the solu on, just the problem; I cut you off. For that, I am sorry if I offended you, but I am a man of my word: No complaining without a solu on! I am not Carnac the Magnificent (A Swami rou ne done by Johnny Carson for you younger members… YouTube him… funny stuff). I don’t have all the answers, and evidently neither do some of you. But I am MORE than willing to work with y’all to solve them, if we can come up with a workable solu on. It’s me to MOVE forward and make our Lodge a des na on for you and your friends to come relax, have a good meal, great drinks and most of all, a fun me!

Sorry, but we need to be adults, although I’m just a big kid, and take responsibility for our ac ons and a tudes. Come to the lodge for an a tude adjustment if you need one… I can help with that. Just see me in my office at the middle of the bar; we’ll work on it together! Guess this could fall into the category of harping on something, sorry. And no ma er what, I s ll love you guys.

Some fun things have happened over the last month. Did you a end our Esteemed Leading Knight’s Gala? No?!?! You missed a good one! It was one of those ‘Oh what a night’ nights. And what an incredible job Teddie did for our Mother’s Day Brunch. We did something different.. In the past we had our Mother’s Day Brunch, and on the following Tuesday, we had an Open Mee ng where we honored the Mother’s. This year we honored them at the Brunch; with a wonderful program, put together by your Lodge Chaplain, Teddie Carr. For weeks a erwards I heard Folks LOVED the program, the food and especially the photo booth. The decision to do one event was a wonderful success. Also, seeing that my ar cle is late this month – sorry Maria ‐ I might as well tell you guys, if you didn’t come to the Flag Day Program, you missed a good one. Mike, your Inner Guard, along with Rose, Assistant Inner Guard, Craig, Assistant Chaplin and several other helpers, put on a wonderful program. Thank you to Teddie, Don Baldwin, Scout Troop 104, we sponsor, and our own Emblem ladies for par cipa ng in the program. A erwards we fed them Mac and Cheese, cake and Corn Dogs… neener neener Allen.

There are lots of fun events coming up this month, a fun 4th of July Family Pa o Party on the 4th. Your Esteemed Lecturing Knight, Vianey, has a really fun day planned. We have a Beach Party on July 21st. Put on your beach clothes and join us for a good me. Cowabunga dude and dude es! I will NOT be wearing a Speedo… NOT a pre y sight.

To end this long ar cle, which is long even in Buck’s world, I invite each and every one of you to come to a mee ng. I invite each and every one of you to come help us with Bingo, a Sunday breakfast, or maybe jam session. Come join in on the rewarding experience in being a volunteer ‐ help keep this lodge running.

Let me close with the same way I opened, it’s gonna be a great year. Please help me with making that come true. Your Exalted Ruler and King of the Long Bar, Buck Kuhns 2

There's no fear when you're having fun.

Dear Elks, We are rolling into July and the heat is here. WOW is all I can say! I sure hope you are enjoying your summer and are spending me with your family. Just a reminder, there are many fun “family‐friendly” events coming up at the Santa Ana Lodge. Mark your calendar for Karaoke, 4th of July Family Pa o Party, Picnic at the Santa Ana Zoo; just to name a few. Call your family members or friend and come on down for some fun. My husband, Allen, and I will have las ng memories of our 2 year old grand‐daughter par cipa ng in Karaoke singing “Twinkle Twinkle Li le Star.” Stay cool and treat yourself to an Ice Cream. The same quotes about having “FUN” are running this month. I’d love to hear from you—(909) 969‐3963.
