GLOSSARY
RESERVE AUCTION
An auction where the seller/auctioneer sets a confidential minimum price (the "reserve price") that must be met or exceeded for the item to be sold. Pre-auction offers can be made by buyer and presented/negotiated by the auctioneer. If accepted by the seller, the auction is canceled If the highest bid at the end of the auction is below the reserve price, the seller is not obligated to sell
Seller's Options: If the reserve is not met, the seller can choose to have the auctioneer:
-Accept the offer
-Decline the offer
-Negotiate for a win/win solution
ABSOLUTE AUCTION
An auction where there is no reserve requirement and the sale goes to the highest bidder. These are a popular type of auction, especially for those looking to make a cash sale quickly without complications. No pre-auction offers are accepted.
