Family run kitchen makeover company celebrates 25 years
Local business Dream Doors turned 25 earlier this year and celebrated being the UK’s most trusted kitchen makeover company over this time.
The company have seen kitchen trends and popular styles change significantly over the past 25 years, but one thing remains a constant, this space is the heart of any home. Dream Doors have evolved alongside these changes, helping to revamp nearly 4000 kitchens in the last year alone.
The company began trading in 1999, with their North Devon showroom in Barnstaple opening in 2022 after finding a gap in the market for affordable kitchen makeovers that caused minimal disruption to the home. By replacing the doors and drawer fronts, Dream Doors allows you to completely revamp your space, for up to 50% less than a fully fitted kitchen. Avoiding the unnecessary removal of the cabinets allows for their fitters to be in and out in as little as 2-3 days, meaning customers can be enjoying their new kitchen in no time!
Dream Doors also have a commitment to sustainability, providing kitchens that benefit both the homeowner, and the planet. By actively encouraging customers to reuse their existing cabinetry, and ensuring all materials removed are disposed of responsibly, Dream Doors North Devon are making every effort to reduce the impact to the environment made by the kitchen industry.
Interested in starting your kitchen makeover journey? Your local Dream Doors showroom can be found at Unit 4 Queens House, Queen Street, Barnstaple, Devon, EX32 8HJ, where you can view a wide range of kitchen door styles and colours, as well a selection of modern appliances, storage solutions, and lighting options – 01271 603060, www.dreamdoors.co.uk

SEXTORTION
If you receive a friend request on social media, contact made via WhatsApp or an email from someone you have never met before, be very cautious. This type of crime has happened locally, so we need to make you aware.
Criminals befriend victims online by using a fake identity and then after a period of time exchanging messages they persuade them to perform sexual or otherwise compromising acts in front of their webcam or in a video message usually after being sent one by the criminal.
The video is recorded by the criminals who then threaten to share the images with the victims’ friends and family, blackmailing the victim to pay them money to prevent this happening.
Be very careful about who you befriend online, especially if you’re considering sharing anything intimate with them. The attractive person in the video chat may have been coerced themselves. A profile photo may be of someone completely different and any videos sent are not of them.
It is best not to share intimate images or sexual acts online even with people you know. Once images are out on the web they are very difficult to get removed.
If it’s happened to you, don’t panic.
Don’t pay up. The criminal may publish the compromising images anyway or they may come back to you for more money.
End all communication with the blackmailers but save the messages or screenshot them to save as evidence.
Contact the Police. you can do that using any of the non-emergency methods here: www.dc.police.uk/contact
If you’re under 18 years old, speak to an adult you trust immediately or get in touch with CEOP (the Police Child Exploitation and Online Protection Command) https:// www.ceop.police.uk/ceop-reporting

s big appeal for a forever home
Buddy the four-year-old Chihuahua is Dogs Trust s Dog of the Month, who is searching for his forever home.
Buddy loves to be cosy and spend time with his s bonded with them. Before living offsite in a foster home as part of our Home from Home Scheme, Buddy could be found in Dogs Trust Ilfracombe’s office often having a snooze and keeping our staff company whilst they worked.
Buddy enjoys playing with his toys, especially soft teddies. He loves tasty treats, which are often used to teach him some tricks during positive reward training. Buddy is a fair-weather pooch who dislikes walking in the rain, as he’d much prefer to be curled up in the warm indoors. He does not mind walking with other dogs who are calm, although he may give a little woof when they are in the distance. He is sociable and made lots of friends at the rehoming centre, particularly with other calm dogs. Since being in a foster home, Buddy has learnt his housetraining and is confident to travel in the car.
Buddy would love to find a loving home with a secure garden for him to explore. He could live with teenage children, but would need a home without cats and small furries. Buddy is looking to be the only dog in the home as he likes to have all the toys and food for himself. Out and about, he would enjoy and benefit from having doggie pals. We have no history of Buddy around livestock. Buddy may appear shy or aloof when he first meets new people but if you adopt Buddy, you will find him to be a lovely little companion.
Elise Watson, Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe says, “Buddy is such a sweet small boy with a lovely personality. Once he’s familiar with new human friends, it doesn’t take long before he’s snoozing next to them comfortably. He’s certainly motivated by food, and will do anything for a piece of hot dog sausage, chicken or cheese. We’re hoping someone comes forward to offer him a home soon.”
If you are interested in adopting Buddy or want to explore other dogs available for rehoming at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe, please visit www.dogstrust.org.uk/ilfracombe for more information.

HIDDEN MESSAGE WORDSEARCH - ROMAN EMPIRE
September’s answers was: A river cuts through rock, not because of it’s power, but because of it’s persistence. Jim Watkins
Tommy looks very dapper in his glossy black and white coat with bright eyes and lovely white whiskers. His past is a bit of a mystery as he was found looking very uncared for. A full vet check found no health problems at all, and in the care of his fosterers the shine has come right back into his coat. While a little wary of people at first, he is now very much a lap cat. He loves to be made a fuss of and given lots of cuddles, rewarding you with lots of purring and pummelling while gazing into your eyes! You'd certainly never know he'd lived some of his young life on the streets.
Still, a youngster, Tommy is estimated between one and two. Perhaps because of his past, he has a very healthy appetite, so he's kept strictly to three meals a day and no grazing! He has adapted well into pen life, and this helps us to be confident that in the right household he would settle right in. We feel he'd best suit a home with no young children or other pets and preferably with an experienced cat owner. He may need a bit of time and understanding to help him gain his confidence with new people, but we're sure that would be well rewarded.
As with all CP cats he's been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, flea’d and wormed, and because of his past blood tested too. All he needs now is a new home!
