EX33 - May 2022

With the warmer weather fast approaching and the influx of visitors to our area, we take this opportunity to remind you when parking your car at rural beauty spots to take care by keeping car windows closed, doors locked, and keeping valuables out of sight. Theft from vehicles in Devon and Cornwall remains low but the opportunity for this type of crime traditionally rises whilst people are out and about enjoying their time off. By taking simple precautions people can help police to reduce crime while preventing the heartache of losing valuables to opportunist thieves. •

Lock your vehicles and close windows.

• Leave nothing on display in your vehicle. Remove items such as SatNav and cradle, tools, mobiles, money and any bag that may tempt someone to smash your car window to see what’s inside. Property mark your possessions and register your valuables using the free service at www.immobilise.com. This enables police to identify the owner of the items if they are stolen.
