General Manager Lance Syrett said that while Ruby’s Inn has had an ice rink on the property for a dozen years, this is only their second year offering the “Ice Ribbon.” Similar to an ice rink but shaped like a donut track, the Ice Ribbon offers fun for all ages.

“It’s got a little more character to it than an ice rink,” he added. “It’s just a lot of fun.”

Located at the Winter Adventure Center inside the same building as Ebenezer’s Barn & Grill, visitors can rent ice skates for only $7. Other rentals include snowshoes and cross-country skiing equipment. All-day ski rental passes provide direct access to trails for endless fun.

“For families like mine, winter sports can literally be thousands of dollars,” Syrett said. “But this is an alternative to that, and it’s a good time.”

If you’re in it for the full national park experience, Social Media Manager Jade Roundy said Ruby’s Inn is the only hotel that offers front-door pickup by the park’s service shuttle. The shuttle takes visitors directly into Bryce Canyon National Park, stopping at every major point in the park. The shuttle runs seven days a week during peak season.

All that adventuring works up an appetite, and Ruby’s Inn offers three restaurants to choose from: the Cowboy’s Buffet & Steak Room, the Canyon Diner and Ebenezer’s Barn & Grill.

Cowboy’s Buffet & Steak Room offers family-style western dining with the area’s finest steak, ribs, chicken and seafood. Order from their full-service menu or enjoy their seasonal buffet.

The Canyon Diner features great Western fast food and freshly baked Piccadilly Pizza for both lunch and dinner. Guests can enjoy burgers, hot dogs and fish sandwiches, along with espresso and soft drinks.

Chow down on a tender steak while watching live music by the Bryce Canyon Wranglers at Ebenezer’s Barn & Grill. The band comprises a mixture of seasoned Nashville performers and up-and-coming talents. From Cowboy Chicken to a kids’ BBQ meal, all ages can enjoy this live country music dinner show.

Tuesday, Oct. 22. That was the day Kari decided she was going to die. She marked a red “X” on her calendar and made preparations to end her own life. After struggling with depression and anxiety for years, she couldn’t take it anymore. Pills, therapy, treatments – nothing worked.

Unexpectedly, she ran into an old coworker that same day. As they visited, he asked her if she was depressed. He told her of his own battle with depression and how he too had been suicidal at one point, but that ketamine infusions had changed everything.

Patients undergo infusions twice a week for two to three weeks. After this “loading phase” of the medicine, patients typically move into the maintenance phase. Most require an infusion only once a month or once every other month to sustain their improved mood.

Infusions typically last about 40-60 minutes, during which time patients enter a relaxed and somewhat dreamlike state. Most patients describe this as extremely enjoyable and look forward to their treatments.

“Ketamine given in doses like this can feel like a bit of a psychedelic experience,” Evans said. “Patients can have profound breakthrough experiences during these treatments.”

Because ketamine metabolizes quickly, the dissociative effects begin to fade as soon as the infusion stops. Patients usually feel back to normal within 15-20 minutes.

Every session is supervised by a physician and conducted in a private space. After the infusion, the staff will have a discussion with each patient about the sensations they experienced and where their thoughts traveled.

“That’s a good time for us to get to know them better and see if there’s other tools we can add to their toolbox,” Evans said.

Desert Sands Ketamine provides patients with resources to improve all aspects of their well-being, including dietary guidance, meditation, massage therapy, relationship counseling and talk therapy. Recognizing that every individual has a unique story and set of issues that they’re dealing with, Evans strives to use a complete approach to each patient.

While ketamine is finally receiving national media attention as a breakthrough treatment in mental health, Evans said the medical world is also discovering how beneficial it can be for chronic pain conditions such as migraines and complex regional pain syndrome. Because it’s administered via IV infusion, pain relief begins almost immediately.

“Ketamine has been nothing short of miraculous for a lot of people in our clinic,” he added. “With ketamine, people can wake up in the morning and joy is a possibility for them again.”

Patients find the clinic in a variety of ways. Some are referred by a psychiatrist, therapist or family practice physician. However, a referral or ongoing relationship with a mental health professional isn’t necessary.

Dr. Chase M. Williams grew up in Cedar City, Utah. His father was a dentist and he knew from a young age that he wanted to follow in his dad’s footsteps. Chase spent countless hours in his dad’s office watching and learning about teeth. After completing his Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology/Zoology from Southern Utah University, he moved his lovely wife, Teresa, to Omaha, Nebraska where he attended Creighton University School of Dentistry. During his second year of dental school, Dr. Williams’ father, Tracey, unexpectedly passed away.

This altered Dr. Williams’ dream of working with his dad. Chase worked extra hard in school from that point on and graduated #1 in his class in May 2007. Dr. Williams and his family moved back to Cedar City, Utah to start his dental practice and to continue the tradition of excellence in dentistry that his father had started. Chase and his wife Teresa have two beautiful daughters, Ashlyn and Alyssa, and twin boys, Brock and Brevin.

Dr. Jeff M. Williams started his dental journey working as a lab technician for his father, Tracey L. Williams DDS, in the late 90’s. After his father passed away in 2004, he pursued a degree from Dixie State University in Dental Hygiene. After receiving an Associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene, Jeff returned to Cedar City to work for his brother Dr. Chase M. Williams DDS. While working as a hygienist, Jeff continued his education and went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene with an emphasis on restorative dentistry where he became board certified in dental restorations. While utilizing his certification by teaching as adjunct faculty at Dixie State University, it furthered Jeff’s passion for dentistry. Having a desire to continue his education, he applied to dental school and was accepted by West Virginia University.

Jeff, his wife Amilyn, and their daughter Lainee moved to West Virginia where they lived for four years while attending dental school. During the first semester of dental school, they welcomed their son Harvey. Jeff graduated from West Virginia University in 2018 as a Doctor of Dental Surgery and returned to the family practice in Cedar City, Utah.
