Must Must (dovere) alla forma affermativa si usa per esprimere: un dovere o un obbligo You must behave well! Devi comportarti bene! We must turn right here! C’è l’obbligo di svolta a destra, qui. I can’t come with you. I must study. Non posso venire con te. Devo studiare. It’s very late. We must go. È tardissimo. Dobbiamo andare. We must call an ambulance. Dobbiamo chiamare un’ambulanza.

You mustn’t run in the corridor. Non si deve correre nel corridoio. You mustn’t tell Beth! It’s a secret! Non devi dirlo a Beth! È un segreto! I mustn’t forget to call mum at five! Non devo dimenticare di chiamare la mamma alle cinque!

! Must e mustn’t si usano soltanto al presente. Per costruire i tempi mancanti si coniuga have to + forma base del verbo principale (vedi Have to pagina 87).
